I did miss a couple of trains (as I got distracted looking for Wi-Fi, and in one instance (early on) I was far too close to the line - I forgot how fast these trains go!

Welwyn22 they mostly go about 60-80 mph which is the reason why I stay a few few few more feet away from the yellow line

I used to ride these trains as a kid in the late 60s. There was still an old train yard with a turn table near Brisbane where steam engines were housed. All gone now kind of sad lots of history was there.

1:16 just love seeing 901, very nice

Reminds me of the Metra trains we got here in Chicago, Illinois.

When the entire Caltrain line is all electrification, I'm sure they'll have no problem selling their locomotives and passenger railcars and making a fat buck off of them!!!

There's still a couple of years to go until the electrification is complete. I usually stay in hostels when I travel as it's a lot cheaper than a hotel.

Caltrain owns their own tracks from San Francisco to San Jose (Tamien). The line to Gilroy is owned by Union Pacific.

1:43 it looked like a little train but then it transformed ☠️

When Caltrain becomes electric what are they going to do with 900-919 locomotives and the older cab cars?

Metrolink sold them to Caltrain in 2015. At the time Caltrain was looking for a quick solution to overcrowding - caused by a lack of extra cars.

What camcorder did you use?

I currently use a Canon Powershot ELPH 350HS point-and-shoot. Previously I've used a 190IS, 130IS, 300HS and 780IS. The only 'camcorder' I've ever used is a Canon UC8-Hi8 with 8mm tapes (up to July 2009).

It can do better (1080p) but I record in 720p as it is a decent enough quality with faster processing time and less HDD space. One of my 1080p videos (by mistake) was the Kettle Valley Railway last year.

Today I learned that the horns are actually a Nathan P2 (a New Cast P5 with only bell #2 & #3), and not some tuned K5LA or K3LA or some of the rather

It won't be fully electric until mid-2022 at the earliest. There's still time. Furthermore the San Jose-Gilroy section will still be diesel for quite some time yet.

nah the k5la is just the most overrated thing I ever heard of from railfans because of how safe they are. and I personally think the P2's my favorite horn with the k3l just behind it.
