‘Calm before the storm’: National Rally loss in France is ‘not’ breaking right-wing wave

Webster University Assistant Professor Ralph Schoellhammer says the defeat of the National Rally in France’s election is not the breaking of the right-wing wave but he “calm before the storm”.
Riots have erupted in France following the defeat of the National Rally in the elections.
“This was not the breaking of the right-wing wave that is building in Europe,” Mr Schoellhammer told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio.
“This is more the calm before the storm because the trendlines are still there.”

When you import the 3rd world, you will become the 3rd world. Long gone are the days of France and Paris in particular being a beautiful country and city, full of chic everyday Parisiens who look like the oh so beautiful Catherine Deneuve and the handsome Alain Delon. The city of light has now become the city of shite, which is such a crying shame. The 3rd world has brought it down from the light and into the darkness and made it just like home for them. A total and very sad demise for sure R.I.P Paris and R.I.P France. Thank you for the great reporting. Erin Go Bragh. 🇮🇪 💚🤍🧡 🇮🇪🍀

Whàt wàs interesting about the establishment ganging up on Rallye in the French election was how, for all their differences in economic policy, culturally the establishment is dramatically skewed to the left, and this is what really matters to them.

I think countries like France and the United States ought to take a good look at their very old complicated democratic systems. Then ask themselves if they should not simplify it all. I live in Denmark where we have ONE government house, ONE election, and the number and sizes of parties are simply based on votes. That works a lot better. The winner is the winner, and that's it!

Yes, we really need RID of the Party System. Then all of this would be a moot point. MP's should represent their constituents and that's it. They should be able to be recalled too if they step out of bounds. If we had that type of control in Canada, Trudeau and his clown car would never have got past 2021. Or heck, even the SNC Lavalin thing that he fired his Native Female Justice Minister over. She was asking 'uncomfortable' questions (they were shocked she was actually doing her job and not just being a sweet DEI hire).

Exactly, this cunning move by the opposition swaping seats to prevent the RN victory was not only only a delaying action in front of a continuously rising RN popularity, but also a blessing in disguise for the RN. Right now, the country is ungovernable; whoever would win would end up with an impossible task. By remaining in the opposition, the RN is offering itself a highway to victory in teh presidential elections of 2027.
