People should also know what this game has an AMAZING audio. I have a surround sound system. Hearing the enemies running and pipes rumbling behind you keeps you on edge. One of the best use of surround sound in a game i’ve heard in a while! I believe the graphics are great also. Seeing snow get pushed by a gate opening really highlights the effort the devs put into the small details. I bought this game after most of the bugs/performance issues are fixed and at a discounted price. The story, while simplistic, gets the job done. Definitely worth a try now.

Linear replayable games are the best.

Callisto did have its issues “didn’t effect me personally” but this game is dark gritty and beautiful story line!!!

I personally enjoyed the shit out of this game (first time playing was about 2 weeks ago) But there was soooooo much wasted potential. They had a whole lot of super interesting things going on in this game that should have been fleshed out more, this game easily had the potential to be far deeper and longer and I’m super interested to see what this team makes next if they learn from their mistakes/short comings. All that said though, I couldn’t even begin to label this as a bad game.

Im almost done with this game and as a massive dead space fan i give it a solid 8/10, possibly 8.5. Its a solid good game, had the potential to be amazing if they tweaked and added certain things but overall you should definitely play it if you like dead space esque like games.

I absolutely loved this game immediately from the first minutes, gorgeous looking world, enemies looked so great, and when you bashed their heads with the "electric baguette" as I called it and you saw the cracked skull etc, the story was good, and yes I know many people were saying how generic it was etc etc but what else you want from a space horror game, I am sooooooo waiting for the DLC map and how the story is developing Yes I had some issues with the gun changing animation,but it only happened with the boss flights because I was an huge idiot 🤣🤣 As I said I'm looking forward how the story is going on but at the same time I'm sad because we will not hear the bruv man anymore 🤣🤣

I see that people who complained about the combat system never use the combat system to its full extend. It's similiar to Dead Space but it's not Dead Space so stop treating it like it's one same exact game. Use gun+melee combo back and forth, use your GRP to yeet your enemy and when surrounded by multiple enemies, positition your enemy between object and yourself then use heavy attack to one hit kill your enemy. Yes it can be repetitive some time because how many hit an enemy can take but it's not really that bad, people just unwilling to learn and adapt

This game is really good. I enjoyed it a lot and this game is what made me play Dead Space Remake. The game is really worth buying now and worth every minute of your time.

I hope this game gets a sequel. With the poor sales at the beginning I'm ify. But I feel a sequel is where the series will shine and clean up the originals mistakes

I liked this game a lot. Just beat it. The whole time, I was trying to piece together what was going on with all the personnel data logs I found. Didn't find them all, but found most. The dodging was easy. Only time it was annoying was when two different enemies attacked slightly apart from each other, so I would be dodging the first attack, but would immediately get hit by the other one. My main gripes were: 1. Lack of boss fights. This was most surprising to me. The original Visceral Studios crafted some amazing boss fights in the original Dead Space trilogy. But there wasn't a boss fight until the game was nearly over and that boss became a new enemy after that first encounter. Then there's the 'main' boss. You fight this boss once, get interrupted, have to do some story stuff, then finish up the game against the same boss in a fight that has two different stages. These fights were still pretty easy with the dodge mechanic even on maximum difficulty. I'm sure there's a bit more of a challenge in the newer modes, but for a first playthrough, what few bosses there were and the fights against them were underwhelming. 2. What was actually going on had very few hints for the majority of the game. We knew the new warden was conducting some kind of experiment. We didn't really know where the head doctor stood until near the end, and the writing for the warden, as well as the actor's delivery of those lines, were not all that good. The warden at the end came off as a run of the mill 'eViL' guy part of something bigger than we knew. Comparing Warden Cole to Dead Space's antagonist for the majority of the game, Charles Mercer, makes it hard to believe many of the same people from OG Dead Space had a hand in this writing for this particular character. For me, the most poorly written parts of the game were all around the cutscenes at the end with Warden Cole before and after the final fight. There is definitely potential there for something like what Mercer was building to. But the execution was pretty poor on the mastermind villains of the game. The Biophage threat and creatures though... phenomenal, interesting, good variety, lots of potential with the way this virus works and a potential sequel. 3. The ending... the cliffhanger ending. I know there's story dlc coming, but I highly doubt it'll add more than 2, 3 hours tops. My gut tells me to expect 1.5-2 hours at most. The way the main game ended, it just feels like it could have went a little bit longer while also laying the ground for the sequel. And that's it really. I really liked the rest of the game and would love if they managed to get a sequel greenlit, which they're going to have to work hard to get. Hopefully the game has a good turnaround and they're given another shot. It was absolutely gorgeous. The lighting was great, atmosphere great, majority of characters were good except the Warden at the end. He was a much more interesting character before they finally explained his motivation. Just wasn't as convincing as Mercer in Dead Space. But it is also something that could be easily fixed with a few tweaks and probably another antagonist behind Cole. Also, the game takes place in 2320, yet towards the end, there's a file on a person that was born in 2520. And that file is the only thing that mentions that. My mind was thinking of a few different angles as to where this game was going before the Warden explained his plan. Does anybody know why that file is about a person from the future?

WOW I loved the dogging in the game and the graphics has got to be the best in a game I've seen. I am currently playing it with my wife and we have 3 chapters left.

I'm now playing with the normal difficulties setting, the dodging is not very difficult once you get used to it. I'm anxious to try playing on the new dismemberment mode after I finish. Btw I'm playing on the original PS4 console. It plays well but the uploading after the player dies takes a little time but the game still does kicks tail.

Just finished it. I was aware if the launch issues but wow i loved it. Beautiful graphics, tense voice work. Only about 10-11 hours. Got it for lkke half price too

The division in this game was pretty wild at release. As a diehard fan of the dead space series and absolutely loved the game, and still do. I can understand the complaints though. Hoping the devs focus on them in the Sequel/DLC. My favorite part was probably the combat. Weaving between attacks and getting a Melee combo going then finishing with a fully upgraded shotgun blast to the weakpoint was genuinely enought to keep me pushing through the whole game.

I'd like the updates to be on disc though... Does it make sense to wait, or they're probably not releasing another physical copy anytime soon?

Is the season pass worth £20? Any extra levels? Is riot mode included?

I just started the game in normal mode. My understanding was the dismemberment mode was some sort of one-hit/easy mode just for some added gore. Am I wrong? Should I restart?

Overall plays better on PS5 due to PlayStation working with the studio before launch to ensure optimization of the game on their platform.

I enjoyed the game alot just the fact that I can go left, right, left, right, and dodge constantly made me less worried to die and not have constant pressure when fighting a threat and trying to survive

i like sutch game but haven't bought this yet. Is desmemberment realy a sepaerate gamemode ? Would be better is this features is always in in every mode

My biggest draw back is lack of ammo and it took forever to get a weapon.

Do the updates apply to the ps4 cd versions found in stores?

@@starshottai2519 hey man, if you already bought it, I’d say get the updates, try the new filters, and see if you enjoy it. I returned my copy, cuz on the Xbox one S it was horrible and almost unplayable. So I’ll try it on the ps4 next time it goes on sale. I’ve been amazed by the amount of attack styles. You can dodge (which is so satisfying after you get the hang of it) hit and do quick shots with the pistol in between hits omg it’s amazing, you can stealth around, which is more anxiety provoking, or you can use the spiked walls and machinery to eviscerate your enemies. Plus they have the new dismemberment mode which is way more like dead space and easier to kill enemies, plus the new filter is really creepy. It’s a great game that had a terrible launch. Although, the way you play it, significantly determines how scary it is. I hope you give it another chance, especially as you already bought it, and I hope you like it the second time around.

I'm pretty sure the game got heat because it was marketed and advertised as a Survival Horror game and we ended with a janky, endless hallway Punch Out clone. CP is essentially a Beat em' Up, and not a good one. No one can deny Callisto Protocol has amazing graphics but that doesn't do it for many seeing as they expected a spiritual successor to Dead Space; it just didn't stack up and customers feel robbed. Add that it released near Signalis, a game that is a Survival Horror, is amazing, and for one fifth the price-tag.

As a long time Dead Space fan, when I heard that this game was coming out I preordered it ASAP. After playing the first chapter I shelved the game because Dead Space (2023) was launching and I hadn’t played it when it first came out and really wanted to complete my Dead Space trilogy experience before tackling its spiritual successor. All in all, I have to give the team behind The Callisto Protocol props for making a great game. I’m almost done with my first playthrough and I’m enjoying it immensely. I can’t wait to play it again on NG+

@@anarcho262 When the first Dead Space game released I was unemployed and didn’t have the money to buy the ps3 and Dead Space. I originally purchased DS2 on PC and was playing that before I got a PS3. Once Dead Space 3 was announced for preorder I was like “Shut up and take my money.” Needless to say I was hooked. I had high hopes that Visceral Games would release a sequel to Dead Space 3 but then the studio was shut down. The ending left so many questions unanswered and clearly left it open for a fourth installment. Maybe this time around EA games won’t leave fans of the series hanging

You had to buy the ending in a DLC package. I never bought or watched it. I'm stuck on that cliffhanger for years on purpose now. That was the biggest bs move i ever saw.

@@anarcho262 I loved Dead Space 3. It was my go to game for the longest time. Once I had unlocked the ability to craft the Devil’s Horns weapon, I would intentionally ramp the difficulty up just to make it fair to the necromorphs. Not that it really gave them a fighting chance. The hunter was the only one that gave me a run for my money.

I bought this game 20 bucks, last gen. And yet, even with the 30fps cap, it's so good. Would've got it for my PS5, but didn't want to have to spend the extra 10 bucks for the ps5 ver for a game I was skeptical about. Great video, and thanks for convincing me to buy this game and try the amazing experience of the Callisto Protocol.

What happened to TCP is that everyone heard that some devs on the team worked on Dead Space, and they immediately thought it was gonna be Dead Space 4. I knew it wasn't going to be the same, but still waited for it because I was playing other stuff. Finally getting to it now, and I think it's a damn fine game.

Update -10/23 This game is fire, and the Dodge mechanic is like bobbing and weaving. Like a boxer or boxing 🥊-, if you love dead space you will love this. And it looks so good all the glitches are no more. And the dlc in my opinion is interesting. I love the concept and it was perfect. Actually for the entire game put the best thing about this game. It keeps you thinking. And those with PSN as of October 3, you can download it for FREE! That is a must do!!

I love this game, I love the dodging feature. The mechanics were simple, but still fun to me. I have played through it four times and now I am playing it in dismemberment mode.

The dodging ruins the combat with how easy it is

Days Gone had a similar experience. When it came out, it was very buggy and glitchy but it got so many patches that the game is a masterpiece. Long but a masterpiece. I want to try Callisto out. Not quiet a fan of Dead Space so I’ll try this out

@@Bustedaway the bike and hordes were SO badass. Enemy variety and AI was awesome. But the game would’ve been like 10x better if you could customize Deacon and ur guns like far cry. And maybe have music on the bike radio. The camps looked so generic and “video gamey” compared to similar open world games. Also the lowest map section was a drag and the story got really goofy around there. But yeah I had a ton of fun with it

I liked it enough to finish it even before they added the shader compilation patch it plays great now compared to back then

I just got it for $26. I really hope it’s good. I had so much hope for it at launch but the reviews were brutal.

It can be worth a try for that price though. It’s missing a lot, gameplay-wise. Just accept that going in.

Dismemberment mode is a cool idea, but its like playing it on super easy difficult as fighting the mutant boss you can literally kill it in a few shots, everything just dies in seconds, be nice to have a heavy challange too, wish they had more enemy varients, still a good game would like to see more

Liked the game from the get go. All the changes were great but again I had less complaints than some and hope the DLC comes out soon. When is the DLC coming out?

Totally recommendable in 2024! Just got the deluxe edition for 20eu and having a total blast wirh it. They fixed all issues by now and its just an amazing game! After 5 hours in ive already liked it more than dead space even. It also got more replay value than deadspace wirh all the new game modes and dlcs by now. No stuttering issues even with RT on a 3070+5700x. Skipable cutscenes and QTEs, new dodge system, more gore even if you like😊. Easily a 80-85% game in 2024

Can you beat the game in 8 hours on the first run? It's like the Resident Evil games. You can beat them in a few hours once you've figured out where everything is but the first run usually takes around 20-30 hours

I picked up this game after holding off for 5 months, yep it's really good. Love the setting, world, lore, atmosphere and oh my God that combat. That combat is so crisp. Love how Callisto Protocol forges its own path and is not just a carbon copy of Dead Space. Hopefully there's a sequel for this because this franchise has a lot of potential 🎉

you have given me hope LOL. i really love the dead space trilogy. we need a new trilogy similar to that.

I still really like this game but I see gripes with it. This is def one of those games that’s far better on New game Plus. I have not tried the the new horde mode yet.

Playing ng+ having a blast...again. Loved it at launch and loving it now. It had it's flaws but feel it was blown way out of proportion.

Just started this week. It's kind of awesome but has a lot of issues. For one, its clunky melee combat doesn't exactly gel with how slow you move. It wants to be like dead space original but with dodging fighting, which is awesome when it works. I just hope it leads to other games which improve in this system. Why ever block when dodging us just as easy and doesn't cause any damage?

Because block allows for a leg blow and leads to more combo potential on biophage ennemies. It's just up to you to think if you wanna block to use that hit and shorten the combat, or preserve health and dodge. The more you go up higher difficulties the more you have to think about which interactions you might want to save your block for, because of the increased blocked damage.

Comparing an RPG to a survival horror game is a pretty bad example especially when it comes to playtime. Combine re4 remake with the Dead space remake and this game and you still won't have as much playtime as u would on Tears of The Kingdom

@@dillongaddis1436 I played re4 remake about 7 times plus have been playing mercenaries pretty consistently, I’ve put in about 50 hours in re4 so different genres but I still expect that kind of replay ability plus dlc for 70 dollars

I hope dead island 2 gets a new game plus mode soon

this game is one of my favorites. The DLC pack is killer. Final Transmission is short but has the best boss fights. Riot Mode is like a cross between zombies and Doom Eternal except way better. It is the most fast moving game I have ever played.

Alot of games that get negative reviews ive actually like ie., Days gone , cyberpunk etc. Waited for deep sale and now calisto is only 29 bucks on amazon so grabbed it right away.

Just finished it after paying £15 (or about $20) for it and it was... okay. I think the combat needs alot of work - would have been better with combat closer to Dark Souls or something, with a more active dodge and block ability instead of just holding the movement to the side to auto dodge. It takes all the tension out of combat when you are swarmed by 6+ enemies if you can magically dodge everything with ease. Also the story and characters are fairly dull - reminded me of The Suffering kinda.

Just bought the game after it went on sale, so this is good news!

i can never understand arguing or discussing against people wanting the price of the product to match its quality. There are a lot of games that are definitely not worth full price regardless of them fixing it later like every other game.

I was saying from start...its a solid game fo new IP. It just happened it got harsh reviews. Rough on edges but definitely not a bad game. If they ever make part 2 i think it would be much better

Just started it on Xbox and I'm loving it! This is what a fan game is all about. This one is for the Dead Space fans; because this was in development long before the remake of the first game, and that series was dead in the water. But everyone was so hyped about the Dead Space remake that TCP just didn't have a chance. Update: Game "completed" well kinda. You would think the minds behind Dead Space would not repeat the mistakes of Dead Space 3. Too much DLC and micro transactions; game's true ending hiding behind DLC etc. Those were the things that killed the franchise....and they went and did it again. The Callisto Protocol gets 3 stars out of 5 from me.

ehh, just bought a new physical copy for 20 bucks, day one edition too haha. Couldn't have sold that well! Will be interesting to try it.

It's for 25 bucks now, I might take it finally.

Finally picked this up, looking forward to playing the polished up game. Its a shame the early adopters pay the most and get the least.

I really liked this game. However i'd felt dumb if I preordered it on PC with all its problems. But with this content and the fixes, it was a worthy experience if you play on Maximum security normal mode it works pretty well as an horror experience.
