This guy describes turkey hunting better than anyone I've ever heard
Helll yeahhh Matt Dale! Didn't hear or see turkeys allday. I was walking out of the woods at night and a Gobbler started going off. Marked him on my map and going his way in the morning.
A friend of mine showed me a good fly down early morning tactic. Use your hat to make it sound like the hen flying down. I always use a boonie and after my trees calls, I will wait a couple minutes and slap that hat against my hand or leg simulating the wings when she hits the ground.
My kids and I are learning a bunch from you man. We appreciate the videos buddy, very helpful.
Thx. I am getting back into turkey hunting after many years and this makes sense.
Excellent point. I’m like you in using soft tree calls, just enough to let him know that you’re there. Then nothing else until he’s on the ground. Made the mistake of calling too much a couple of times, and I’ve seen them sit in the tree until 9:00. He’s waiting for that hen that he can’t see to walk under him.
Yeah man, you got this!!! Thx for all the vids, thank you 🙏
Love your advice thanks for posting.
I know you are a true turkey hunter just by the language you use! There are no absolutes..lol! Keep up the great work! Your videos are awesome and a throwback to the way things used to be in the old days!
Yeah man good tip!! if you can't get him right off the roost and he gos off with hens just hang out for awhile and once them hens leave him he's gonna come most times!! Those late morning hunts can be awesome too!! We got over a month to go til season starts here in PA but I'm geting the fever can't wait.!
Great video
Really have learned alo from your videos and knowledge, thanks alot 😊
Yeah, I like these videos that are filmed out in the Turkey Woods.
raise hell praise dale...outdoors
Yes let's have a good time Also appreciate you taking the time to talk turkey Also I appreciate you taking the time for KZread sorry I don't have Facebook one of these days I'll get up to date
I liked to hear you admit that bc I somewhat roosted my first turkey ever the other day and I knew hi general location I debated whether to go straight back into the woods ,in a valley and over a hill...but I thought maybe he was in that valley. So I decided to go the long way to get up that hill....he was on the trail at the bottom of that hill if Ida took my original plan I would have been where he barely couldn't see me maybe 70 yrds away 80 tops, but when I got directly under his roost tree I hit my cigarette and he flew off and hit the ground in the dark
What calls do you use and where do you get your equipment? I’m new to turkey hunting and your videos very helpful. Thanks
I use a red light before day light. It is amazing how close you can get using this tactic.
I move to an area that's historically been a feeding area if he goes the other way on me. If you know a spot where he's strutted in the past it's even better. That can be a good time to use a decoy.
When you were talking about his view and how if you're real close and he is looking for that hen but cant see her and will think that it isnt right, can you use a decoy?
🦃talk don't get no better 👍
Thank you for all these great videos. I'm new to turkey hunting and I've found your videos to be very helpful. Do you have an Instagram account that we can follow?

Sorry no I don't have Instagram but please feel free to follow me on Facebook if you haven't already
Do you still use decoys in the morning when they are roosted
I’ve killed several gobblers by calling the dominant hen in I make the same calls she does and she can’t stand it most of the time. Like you said Matt nothing is a sure thing when it comes to turkeys.
What is the right choke to use for a,turkey? And ur vids are very helpful. And I subscribed

@@daleoutdoors17 thank u for answering back and thx I will try it I was just using a full, choke or a full extra I forget what I was using.
Dale, I’ve been chasing this gobbler that roosts on a pretty steep hillside. I’ve been hunting him from above on a logging road. Do I need to be on the same level as the roost tree? Should I be below where there is a creek bottom? I haven’t tried that yet and may this weekend.

I've got the exact same situation going right now.
I know a guy who when they’re going away he’ll do a medium Yelp and scratch the leaves a little bit. Does this actually work?

Shoot Man, I have had em run to me just for walking in the leaves. When that Turkey is Ripe in Early Season, he is Coming.
Do turkeys come through thick laurel or is it a blockade because I had one coming on the other side of a laurel thicket and then be stopped

Any thicket can & will act as a blockade to Turkeys.
I bought one of those mouth calls and man does it tickle my mouth. I can’t make a turkey sound to save me ass. I really do think if I try to use this thing in the woods I’ll end up all by myself. Might scare everything away for miles.
