For those who doesn't know this is a cover of the band Klaatu. Great cover and tune anyway.

Klaatu (a Canadian band thought to be the Beatles incognito) was actually a great band on their own. Their second album - Hope - is considered by me, at least, to be one of the ten best pop albums of all time. This song was on their first album which was also very good.

Carpenters. In the same room with the Beatles, Led Zepplin, Bee Gees, Frankie Valie and other groups that you recognize immediately from the first note. Legends.

Never heard this song for over 30 years - has an undertone of the Beatles and ELO as well as the Carpenters own distinctive style. Very eclectic

I'm pretty sure Aliens heard this broadcast in the depths of space, came to say HELLO, and then found out what we did to Karen Carpenter. Our planet is now probably blacklisted from contact.

That voice. Nothing else like it before or since. Still makes me cry to think of how we lost her at the height of her career.

Fun fact: the band got Peter Knight, the genius behind the orchestral arrangements on The Moody Blues’ album “Days of Future Passed”, to do the orchestral work on this song

As is usually the case, Richard's arrangement is great, melodic and suitable to the absolutely lovely vocals of Karen....they're just so talented.

I was born in 71 and I remember my older sister playing this record in her room, she let me hang out with her listening to all the great music of the day.

Of all Carpenters' repertory this is my favourite song. Although it's a cover of Klaatu's song, the voice of Karen Carpenter make it very special to the point who did it a real JEWEL. Greets from Peru...
