I was actually late to my 1st official day of work 25 minutes because att I didn't know where to park for free of charge without getting a ticket and the HR just gave me a verbal warning and explain to her that my car was having issues also which was true and after that she was my friend

JAV Ehh, then again, do you have any idea how many people work at Walmart. She obviously knows who works there but if there’s a lot of people in each training group I doubt she’ll know all of them right off the bat. Her voice sounds pretentious but in reality you really can’t blame her reaction. That’s how any competent manager would react...

I wasnt looking for someone else. I talked to them said i would need 3 months, because of the training that takes atleast a weekor two. They were desperate true and needed something now. But they were never going to keep their word. People dont realise sometimes training is expensive for small businesses and takes my time away. This was back in 2000s.i offered them a painting assistant job. Which yes was temporary( until the weather permited) Im guessing i was offering 15$ an hour back when minimum wage was under 10$. It was full time work. Actually unlimited hours they wanted 7 days a week. Rent here for me then was 450$ all included for a 1 bedroom in Quebec. I was too nice and bended too much back then. Took me a while to not be too friendly and try to help everyone at the cost of myself. I still know this person. Thet admitted they were taking advantage of me. This was strangely carthargic. No, i feel good. You should try being not so mean. The people you trash are people. Try being a decent person.

I called today to let them know that I won’t be able to come in tomorrow cause of my moms birthday.She said she will tell my manager but it’s not guaranteed.What does that mean? Also I messaged my other manager and she said to contact one of the mangers on duty and that I had to put it in two weeks in advance which I already did.It still got declined and I have been closing for these past 4 weekends and the other two team members that work at my section in the store got it approved like it’s not fair.So I dont know if I should show up tomorrow or not?

Because they might not fire you, idk, depends on where you work. If it were me, and I decided that it was worth standing up for myself and not going in, then I would at least warn them and say that I will not be there because my mom’s birthday is more important. But you said you did that, so honestly I think you did the right thing. Don’t let yourself get pushed around by anybody, especially your job. Idk how much they pay you or what this job is worth to you, but I don’t think any job is worth being disrespected to where they can’t honor your personal life outside work. Generally speaking.
