Absolutely this. It's nice to see the numbers of new tech vs. older tech. Too often it feels like a marketing gimmick. Rick gives us the data golfers need to value!

see what I love about Rick is he is so consistent and true to his reviews about clubs. I obviously can’t get the clubs because of the price but all of his reviews are so true and amazing

Look into slightly used. I just got the Max LS for 350$ from Callaway with no sign of wear.

Thanks for another great review Rick! Your findings have shown a trend, I love your comparisons of clubs by manufacturer for a decade of releases, distances gain claims are marketing smoke. The forgiveness and finding fairways are likely more to the point but that doesn't sell product as much as distance. Hoping you and your loved ones are well and safe during the new lock down!

Marvelous, I wish you compared all the most forgiving driver from each brand released this year. Callaway, Ping, Titleist, Cobra and see how they stand against each other.

Personally, to get 4 more yards consistently on a new driver is pretty impressive. Technology has greatly improved the equipment over the past 10-12 years, so to get that much more yardage is quite a feat. More importantly, as you mentioned, being more forgiving over the whole face is more important. Great review, Rick!!

That original Epic to me is still the best combo of sound/feel i have ever played.

I used to be a callaway fan Rick until last year when I tried the mavrik. I took the plunge last year and bagged the titleist tsi3 and I'm glad I did. In my view this is the best driver I have ever gamed and my first ever Titleist club. This will be staying in my bag for years to come I love it

Thank you for finally addressing the forgiveness aspect. It really annoys me when people say the max distance not changing means new drivers aren't really new. They are pretty maxed out on how fast the can make drivers. Now, they are focusing on increasing your average drive distance, not max distance

Just bought the Epic Max LS today, upgraded from the 2017 Epic ironically. Tested the Ping 425 and new Sim low spin options. This driver got my RPM down from 3950rpm (not a misprint) to 2200 rpm. Now carrying 30 yards further. Pay the money and get fitted and love the videos as always Rick Shiels

If a driver is slightly longer and more forgiving, that seems to be a credible difference. I have the epic flash sub zero, and interested in the LS.

When Rick hits one he doesn't like he pushes the club to the left after the hit.... I just throw it in the water hazard.

Lol thats funny because that's about what's happened over the last 100 years. Bombers in 1920 hit 250 yards, now they hit 350

Hi Rick, thanks again for the great review. Thank you for highlighting the fact that the drivers are more forgiving in all the new brand models being launched in 2021. Us mortals need to remember that there are still limitations on how far a driver can go. It would be nice to see you hit the same drivers with a different ball ie new Triple Track and see then what your numbers are. We sometimes forget it’s operator, head, shaft and ball which will give you best results. Can’t wait for your next video 👊🏻

Most people don’t realize that drivers aren’t getting better year to year because they can’t get better. With the current rules of golf a driver can only have a smash factor of 1.50 (ball speed divided by club head speed) which all the current drivers have. So the only way to get more distance is by gaining club head speed which is why in the past few years manufacturers have been claiming their new drivers are more aerodynamic. But they can’t get much more aerodynamic and stay rules conforming and not lose performance in other areas.

The quality of these videos at the moment are crazy! I love the use of the cameraman and the almost interview type clips.

Great analysis Rick. I think that the consistency and small drop off on none centered hits is a huge advantage for any golfer. This is especially true when we reach back and try to pump our driver out there on par 5's and long par 4's.

I love ur brutally honest reviews. Especially the last part of the video about not showing enough improvement to make it while to spend $400-$600 for a driver. Keep up the good work Rick!! 😁👍

Driver season is awesome, both Driver videos have been great, interesting and in no way boring! Keep it up team

Went to a locally owned golf store (great staff and knowledgeable) with the hope of finding a driver and fairway wood. Tried all three of these and walked away with the Max. It felt solid when I middled it and also felt good on off-center hits. My confidence is through the roof after trying that club over two days. Can’t wait to get it on the course!

Best part about Rick reviews doesn’t matter if it’s irons, drivers or golf balls always going to be unbiased and truthful. Another great review for Shielsy!

Rick, I'm a Cobra Driver man but that is pretty bloody cool. Also and following your recent Twitter post, I just want to say I love your videos and couldn't care less what some knobs say. You seem a genuine good bloke and are always positive which is a rare quality these days. Keep up the good work boss and I'd love to see you play some Aussie courses and run a pub session with the local subscribers.

My weakness has always been drawing a driver on command and by how much. Put the Epic Max in my bag and played first round with it today. It's EPIC! It's the most controllable driver I've ever owned by far. I shot one over par today and I credit it to getting the ball in the fairways 90% of the time. Draw, fade, frozen rope! If I missed the fairway, it wasn't by much. When you drive it well, it builds confidence. I swing about 114 and it would carry 285+/- and roll out to 300 in most cases with draw swing, a little less on the fade. (70 comp ball) Can adjust from 11* to 14* loft. Played it in default 12*. Came to find how to change all the shaft adjustments to fine tune to my swing. Great video as usual.

Rick I have to say that you continually give the most fair and honest reviews in the market.. Keep up the great work.

That review was awesome. I use a Rouge Sub-Zero and was interesting to see how this time around they renamed the lower spin model to a more literal label. Something to think about if I were to actually switch my driver and woods from Rouge Sub-Zero to Epic LS models...

Great review. Its always great to hear about new drivers when they are released. When golf professionals hit them them they can let us know what s good and bad about the product. I have a Taylor made rocket balls 2 driver. I love the driver, but am always looking for something new if it helps me improve my golf game.

I have a rule. I never buy a club, ball, GPS equipment, glove, or any other item until I see Rick Shiels take on it ...If you reviewed towels I'd buy the ones you like :-) .........seriously Your unbiased opinions are my litmus test. I also appreciate your decision to part ways with Nike. I am sure that was a $$ hit for you and your family but it reinforces my trust in your reviews and opinions. Thanks Rick, been waiting on your review of these drivers before I go and buy. Just shot my best score around the Carrick on Loch Lomond using some of your tutorials. Thanks a bunch, I also beat my brother.

That's one massive difference I've noticed between my old TM R1 driver and my current Callaway Mavrik. Distance has definitely improved, but the most noticeable difference was the forgiveness and distance with bad strikes and swings. I'd say with a slice the Mavrik goes about 10-15m farther than the R1.

Been anticipating this! Cool review as always. On topic.

Yet another great review. I am starting to learn that the shaft you choose is every bit important as the driver. My swing speed has been a bit slower speed (I am 58).

Buying new 2021 Epic Driver tomorrow at PGATSS. appreciate your detailed review. Looks like Epic Max LS will be for me. Will find out tomorrow when I get fitted. ⛳️🏌🏿‍♂️
