Do Not Destroy or Throw away the AirTag. If found, twist and remove the battery. Take it to Police. They can track the Serial Numbers. If you destroy or throw it away, they won’t find who done it and won’t be able to prosecute.

According to Apple, it is more likely a unit discarded by a thief than one placed by a potential assaulter as the serial number would be evidence in court of the assaulter's identity.

There's a fix for air tags. To prevent the speaker from being removed, simply have a sensor program built in. If the program detects any changes to the tag, it ceases to work permanently regardless of whether or not it has been repaired.

Something I still do, after hearing about it from a Big-Time, Tech-Industry Guy over a decade ago, is put tape over my web-enabled devices' cameras when not using them. It makes me feel a little safer while using my devices. And, If you're being tracked or feel you are, while driving, and can't call the police, drive to a police station or fire department, because they're Safe Spaces. If you need to, explain to them that you may be being tracked by an Unknown ASSailant. Be Safe Out There!

It's because these potential victims had IPhones that they even knew they were being tracked. I think Apple should share this app technology to those of us who prefer Android so we can also be warned if some scumbag plants one of these things on us! You're smart! I cover my cameras too. I went through a nasty divorce 8 years ago, and my ex was "nice" enough to give me a free laptop he refurbished. Yeah with plenty of spyware! First thing I did was cover the camera, and never put any of my bank or Paypal info on it. He hacked into my Facebook and put a bunch of lies on a local neighborhood page, but they knew me and my situation and blocked him. It quit working after a few months so I gave that junk back to him as I don't want it in my house and it wasn't worth fixing. I should have donated it to charity, but then he might have used it to spy on some unsuspecting person.

I would just like to add the following: Yes you can buy a faraday pouch for your keys, but you may also want to consider buying a bowl or other similar object that similarly blocks the signal when you put your keys inside of it. Not everyone wants to use an actual pouch, but many people drop their keys into a container near the door (don't keep your keys near the door for this reason... or near the outside walls of your house if you can avoid it), and if the container blocks signals as well, it can be both safe and convenient without requiring too much extra effort. Just change the container you drop your keys into from a dish or whatever else, to a signal blocking container like a small chest or some such, and you won't have to change your habits too much.

Something similar has happened to me before. Once, me and my family rented a big car and went on a road trip during the weekend. Halfway there, all of us kept detecting an AirDrop signal on our phones. We searched everywhere the car, but we didn't find it. We called the company that we rented the car from, and they said they had no idea where it is from and they would contact the person who rented this car before us. Almost all of my family was freaking out and I was trying to stay calm. We made it to the relatives house we would be staying at, and we kept detecting the AirDrop signal from the car. To our relief, we didn't see anyone and we returned the rented car when we got back home. We still do not know whos it was.

For the Faraday pouch for your key fob, another great tip is to simply point your remote at your door from the opening of the faraday pouch (keeping the remote inside the pouch still) so nearby people can't read the code sent by your fob. Also, don't buy a car with push button start and doors that unlock when your keyfob is close - and simply use the inside buttons to lock your car before you leave it, so no code is sent from the fob -

Apple's intended use for the airtags is great, it is just the fact that their will be people who will use it for anything but that intended use.

If I was trapped with a apple AirTag too expensive I have that on my phone just to keep myself safe and be notified in real time about being tracked by AirTag so much for a commercial stay in the future‘s family or that song what a wonderful world yeah, right.

Depending on the Android phone you have you can actually automate the process of scaning for tags, having new bluetooth signals trigger the apps to scan and notify you on linggering bluetooth signals. Its actually really easy to setup processes to help keep you safe and knowing what is around you and for how long its been around you, the problem is the average Joe/Jane either wont know/think to set such process triggers or they wont even know its something they could even do to protect themselfs, as You so nonchalantly demenstrated with this video.

Wow more reasons for young girl's to fear stalkers even more. Glad I know this now then never. I just hope no one has to ever go through this. It's scary enough to hear other people going through it, but it's never fun when it's you.

It's amazing how many people find out they being track but still go home or friends house with the device still on the car, pockets, purse. Etc... to bad people are more scared of police then a stranger.. thats the place you drive to.. most people don't even know where their local police station is 🙄.

15:35 the 'being able to use security devices reminds me of the show Bones. In an episode of the 8th season the bad guy, Pelant (a very creepy but intelligent man who is obsessed [he stalks her and makes her puzzles with his victims that he knows only she would be able to decipher] with the female main character, Bones) uses security cameras to basically track the Jefersonian's team (the group of main characters). He mainly focuses on Bones and has a wall of security footage images of her.

Another option with disposing the air tag: drive to the nearest police station and drop it off at the front desk. Could you imagine the look on the "stalker's" face when the see the police station?

Oh god. So one day my friend and I were walking around the exit of our school when he found a air tag. He thought it was a hacking device that you can stick to a phone and see info. So he kept it with him even after I told him it was an air tag. So we played with it a bit he left to his house and it’s still there today!

1 creepy thing that happened to me was, i was in my bed trying to sleep with my bluetooth speaker on playing music from the SD card, and all of a sudden- the chime that lets you know a device has been paired and connected sounded. I hear a voice and it is of a man with a raspy voice saying i am watching and i WILL come for you! I told my mom this but she did not entirely believe me she did say that was weird though. I was pretty scared and you best believe i stayed up that entire night. I watched Netflix all night as to not fall asleep. This goes to anyone reading this- Be careful with what you say and do because you never know if someone is watching and or listening and who that may be. Stay safe everyone.
