@rieekan then why sync? and plus, I've used Sync from Android and Windows Mobile to Gmail. I'm pretty sure there's an option where you can disable contact sync when you're setting it up... If there's none, then it wasn't google's fault, you're phone (blackberry) should've provided you with it. Thing is you're only syncing in, you're phone is the CLIENT. you know, client server interaction, client usually does the work. so what i'm saying is blackberry should've given you an option.

I just discovered a neat trick: I activated Google voicemail on my regular cell phone. If I want to answer a regular call from the comfort of my computer, I reject/miss the incoming call, and then see my Gmail saying "incoming call" to pick up the phone call from the inbox. I'm guessing it's because the voicemail number is your regular Google Voice number -- so a rejected or missed called gets "forwarded" to your Gmail phone when you have your inbox open. Neat trick for low signal areas!

@rieekan yes, i use two google accounts on my android phone. and yes there is an option to not sync the contacts before you hit add account. in android. When i was using my winmo, i sync via outlook and yes, there is an option to not sync the contacts before you add the google exchange account. I don't know about blackberry, but it seems like its blackberry's fault for not putting up an option.

@beauhefley I meant free assuming someone has internet access. I use Google Voice and make most calls through that service on my Android phone. I pay a data plan to the wireless co, true, but I don't need to waste my wireless plan's minutes to make calls.

New Google would be a good experience for me to practice up on my gmail. Can't wait to get started.Love to keep my information safe and be able to go back on websites without any problems. can't seem to keep signing in with my verification codes for each website. I get blocked and there are no more numbers to contact Google or certain websites like Twitter. Do I need a software or app on my cell phone to catch my code for website?

@671lattestone Google voice uses your own personal number., not one that is designated to you. Skype does not. If somebody is calling my home phone, or my cell phone or my office phone or however many phones I have set up on Google Voice it will ring all phones so that you can be reached by any phone including through Gmail. Also when people leave messages on your voice mail you can screen the calls live and get an automatic text transcription in you Gmail

@carstorm85 I just meant that those within the US can already make internet calls to US numbers for free via Gmail. There's no need for someone to go through all the stuff @fayaz469 describes if they live in the US and want to call within the US. Rates to call outside the US are very reasonable.

They are not hiding the fact that it's a fee based service. It's out in the open. Google Checkout was free for a while too, and we all knew/were told that eventually they would start charging.
