Suprisingly mw3 campaign is optimized pretty good. Mw2 warzone performance on other hand has gone down the drain

Mw3 was not too optimized in the mp beta but they fixed most issues by the time they released the campaign. Fps went from 50-55 to 70-80

I think the biggest reasons why you see games are becoming 80-100 if not 200GB large lately is because devs are just using raw, uncompressed assets (textures, audio, effects), often aiming for 4K resolution and high bitrate audio and thinking: "This is the best possible raw experience we intended" and not really putting much thought into those who dont have 4K TVs/monitors or good headphones and speakers. The age of ubiquitous internet and not being limited to disc size also encourages lack of file compression. And with constant new content being added, the devs rarely ever go back to make the original assets more file efficient or cutting content out. The only game i can think of that reduced its overall file size from its original size was Total Warhammer 3. 125GB originally, down to 105GB, now. Not much and 105GB is still insane, but it does suck how devs are doing little to mitigate file sizes. I guess Baldurs Gate 3 made compromises to reduce their file size. Like the audio definitely feels compressed, and even then, the game is 120GB large. Honestly, i feel like Japanese devs (excluding Tekken) tend to do file size optimization better. Resident Evil games are 20-30GBs, Dark Souls 1-3 are 10-30GB, Elden Ring and Street Fighter 6 are 60GB,

most of it is the campaign, because normal modern warfare II was around 35 gb and the campaign was 28gb

They should just compress their games since the masses are going to eat up whatever it is the COD devs dish out

Exactly dude, they act as if most of their players stopped to admire the walls in the gulag.

They said after MW19 that file compression would be utilized to save space, obviously that never happened 🤣. I remember Cold War was fuckingg MASSIVE mainly because I played MP and zombies quite a bit and they took up the most space. Imma sit this one out and just watch and see where it goes

@@Saintwolvinn thats true but i believe it has pre downloads of the rest of the game. Wish they just make a single launcher for all their games instead of accessing Warzone then selecting the game xD

If you think about it it makes sense for WZ cod bc cod is the only game that lets you go into EVERY building thats as dense as it is. Idk tho, obviously its not optimized and if it was it would be less

yeah sucks for console people who need certain spec'd m.2 SSDs but for PC you can find Gen3 2TB for under $100 now days. Next consoles need to do better in that regard. Storage should no longer be a huge marketing thing. It hasn't been for PCs forever.

Agreed 100%. It almost seems intentional. If you have a PS5 you need to get the SSD from a partner or them, if you have an Xbox you have to buy the expansion card. An opportunity to milk the eternal gamer cow unfortunately. Thanks for watching and sharing James, appreciate it :)

the only thing that im somewhat excited about is that they are bringing back round based zombies but even the its gonna be ruined by some new dumbass feature they are gonna add plus i dont think that zombies was a good idea to implament in to the campaign just fucks up everything

Yes, If you're one of those aliens who plan on having MW2 Campaign, MW2 MP, MW2 Co-Op, Warzone, MW3 Campaign, MW3 Multiplayer, MW3 Zombies all installed at the same time, then yes. 235GB. Realistically you'll only install MW3 MP, Zombies and Warzone. File size on its own will be much smaller than it has ever been for years as they've stated on their twitter.

It doesn't take away from the fact that you need to download too much just to erase it. PS5 as well as Activision should offer the option. ESPECIALLY considering how lackluster PS5 storage is tbh. Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion :)
