"I'm glad this demon is on our team." Perfectly describes the Major. Lewis was so fun to watch this series, but in particular this episode.

Normally I really can't be bothered with recursive in-jokes in campaigns, but this is actually entirely justifiable & effective for a Cthulhu campaign context. I love the idea of a '20s film reel of a mythos tome becoming a mythos artifact itself.

I think Lewis quite often have the best characters, and he always goes in full rp mode. Already in the old sessions John Steel/Nick Griswald was just great or Ameebo in star wars

Lewis always gives 110% into the character and it kills every time
The whole elephant gun usage, from having just the exact amount of luck to make the second shot land to then have that shot only deal the minimum possible damage, was absolutely insane!
This was honestly one of the best call of Cthulhu playthroughs. Everything from Lewis insane roles and his heroic sacrifice, everyone using their characters and their skills to the best of their ability, from Lewis’ traps, Ravs mechanical work, Toms filmmaking, Barrys celebrity status. The actual role playing, the dice roles and the inside jokes of the major taking care of EVERYONE when they were a baby were brilliant.
Boy shorts, lard, elephant gun... yep, its demon-hunting time
10:20 Tom always looks a bit like a wizard, but here specifically is the single most wizardly he's ever looked, this is "I have seriously underestimated the lengths at which mortals will go to defeat me" wizard face
. Bertrand will feel guilt for the rest of his life for getting the man who bounced him on his knee killed
I feel like the British Empire's entire modus oparandi in the late 19th century was just hurling the major at various small inoffensive countries in Africa and Asia and then waiting for the dust to settle. He's firing an elephant gun at anything that makes a noise in heaven now.

With Lewis’ constant references to the Siege of Khartoum, I feel like the Major is basically just Charles George Gordon. And yeah, that was basically his modus operandi.

“The natives here are right uppity. Send in the major to sort em out.”
51:57 "I'm so glad we have this demon on our team. He's so much better than their demon". Best line of the whole thing.
I think this is the best final confrontation since the Haunting of Ypsilon 14. I like how Lewis's Cthulu characters keep getting badass deaths.
Good fortune that in his travels the Major had learnt the patented Crevello Kick.
"This is like Dad's Army Banishes A Spirit!" Incredible. Absolutely would watch that spin-off.
I hope Archie and his myriad of mythos artifacts continue to show up in future campaigns.
The Major really brings me back the John Steele days

These Call of Cthulhu campaigns just keep getting better and better, not only in narrative, but also production value. The sound effects and subtle noises that were edited in were so so good. You've got me as a member now Tom 💛
Absolutely loved the utter chaos between the Major’s elephant gun and the cursed film. Always love me some CoC, it’s such an enrapturing story every time. The noises the djin genuinely scared me sometimes, amazing work by the editor.

I love Lewis. We had Mister Popcorn and Farmer Old MacDonald, and now we have The Major. His characters and voices have been the best for years.
Edge of Madness is such a classic! Probably my favourite of the early Cthulhu beginner adventures, I must've run it five or six times over the decades, and it's fascinating how the Mystery Quest crew is handling it!
RIP the Major, a true hero in the entire history of Call of Cthulhu
Ravss perfectly timed table thump, Tom's kaboom and the editing.. Chefs kiss

This little campaign easily ranks in my top 5 on this channel. Fantastic work, Tom and party!! I always look forward to these!
I love the Miggins. Great show Tom. Poor Archie and rest in peace major. Bring back Jingly John!
In the end ,The Major literally bought the farm!
Tom, i say this for nearly every vid, but these intros genuinely are so fun and help set the tone so well, they make me happy
The M in Major stands for MVP
I love the "Where the fuck is this story going?" moments followed by "I use jungle survival". lmao
A GLORIOUS END! COVERED IN GREASE ON A DOORMAT!
Mystery Quest has been such a treat. From the killer DMing to the players' ingenuity and humor... I can't wait to see what comes next!
Love all the characters, but the major was especially iconic this series. Looking forward to what you guys get up to next!
every time i hear the screaming from the yogs as foley is perfection
Lewis really likes to play by his own rules...not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but at least it's funny to see

He looked surprised or disappointed when his character died. You play like that, and you’re not playing Pulp, and your character is gonna die. It’s that simple 😂
10:23 - I think this is genuinely the expression on anyone's face near Lewis lol. Great series, as always MQ does not disappoint. Oh boy I'd love to have some questions about this one. Namely, how much hair did you lose while DMing it Tom, and how is Oscar doing after editing this one.
Can't wait to get off work and see how the crew fecks up this ritual! Good or bad, I hope its entertaining! *This is a comment, for the Angorythm.*

The Major/LewLew was an absolute stud
Lewis barking orders at people as the major was so perfect
Once again so good! Lucky that major ended in the woods and not in some personal hell so good endings all around! I wish we see more Call of Cthulhu soon!
mr and mrs miggins has to be connection for all the future cthulu games! I love them so much! (PS tom! i think with that ordeal and mrs miggins blacking out, I think its time for a random spell for her next adventure? no? ^^)
This was such a perfect little series, I love these characters and I'm excited to see what Lewis comes up with next! I hope he brings back the leather midlife crisis jacket and plays some sort of greaser or something, I can see that being fun. I love the sort of shared mythos all of these sessions are building, and tbh I'd like to see even more of that- it would be so cool to see a full multi-adventure campaign- one end goal, but formatted in such a way that every 3 to 4 video adventure is still it's own standalone series
Going from having enough luck to have any item at will all the way down to zero is truly poetic.
The major is the best character I've seen in any tabletop RPG setting. This is Lewis's magnum opus
Gotta appreciate Ravs’ “King in Yellow” dice/dice bag.
Not taking away from anyone else as everyone was brilliant but Lewis as the major was a real badass
Beautiful series, so glad the Major went out as a hero. A true John/Nick Steel/Grizwald end.
This might just be my favourite campaign so far, everyone was great but the Major was definitely my favourite!
The audio work is both simultaneously terrifying and amazing
The openers to these episodes are just extraordinary
The Major is such a great character. Basic but perfect
call of cthulhu adventures are always my favourite and this one was fantastic everyone played their roles so well
The Major will never be forgotten
the second best part of MQ is that somehow Zero Degrees had completely slipped under my radar and I only found out about it thanks to the shout outs at the end
Best of Lewis Compilation #4
Lewis was absolutely amazing in this. How does he always come up with the best characters? The major is on par with Ameebo
Edge of Darkness is one of my favorite Call of Cthulhu adventures. I'd run it as a sequel to the Haunting.
I love that Mrs. Marple solved the mystery 🕵️♀️
Well done! Fantastic action-packed conclusion. Never seen an action conclusion done so well - keeping the threat hidden but ever-present and active while providing action stakes and minions to fight... very well done and so cinematic. R.I.P. the Major, he was a true hero. And like any hero in the Mythos, destined not to live long. It was also great to have Sonny back, easily one of my favourite call of cthulhu recurring PCs.
I know this is a bit on the nose but genuinely this whole campaign could be a movie and I'd happily take on a curse to watch it. I've watched every video since Mystery Quest started and they've all had charm in their own way but I was completely absorbed in this one. 11/10 crit success.
Another great episode! The ending was spectacular! It was great watching all 1.5hrs of this and commenting right after!! I didn't go straight to the comments as it just uploaded! Who'd do that!
The Major was scarier than the demon! Another great video!
Edge Of Darkness, had me on the Edge of my seat. Just edging all around. Seriously though, these are all a lot of beloved characters, I was holding my breath worried that something fatal would happen to one of them. What a painful wild ride this one was
Lewis always has such great characters in these role plays
I SALAZAR LOMBARDO AM ACTUALLY THE GREATEST TRAP DISARMER IN THE 8 KINGDOMS I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW!!
Absolutely brilliant finale, so well run and each player played such crucial and large characters and roles. This was perhaps the best campaigns yet. Can't wait for the next series!
I really hope that couple stories down the line we'll get an investigation, maybe with new set of characters, that turns out to be centred around the two cursed movies created on this day.
Tom’s Call of Cthulhu games are always just so much fun to watch
The Major was the best part of this adventure. Amazing!
This was amazing. Truly a wonderful treat of tabletop gaming that we so rarely get to find on the internet, all of the mystery quest series are fav's of mine, thank you for playing and putting these together for us they really are *chefs kiss*
I’ve been waiting all week for this I need my weekly fix of ravs and Harry talking about feet
I love the call of cthullhu campaigns so damn much I hope these characters reappear in the future 🤣
omg. it's like the dice just lost their own insanity rolls. that shit was nuts... well, except for when the major tried to kick the unmentionable horror in ITS nuts... it would have been even crazier had that been a crit lol... that whole part reminded me of "wolfmans got nards...!"
Man that was great!! The Major is my favorite character in all of the mystery quest videos
A great episode and a great game! Everybody was so clever and on the same page tone-wise, it was just deeply enjoyable. Looking forward to hearing about the future perils with the accursed tapes and Mrs. Miggins literary adventures.
This channel has become a staple within my weekly watchlist. I really do look forward to it and it's lined up at a moment I really needed it, thank y'all
I always love Lewis's weird characters. They are so fun and quirky. And Louis himself is just an amazing role player.
Amazingly thrilling conclusion. The ritual was such a wild ride
If this wasn't the Yogscast, I would've suspected they had dice weighted towards high rolls
These are always fucking top tier. Lewis is such a gem for roleplaying so well lol. What about ending! Can't wait for the next one.
I knew this was posted because I saw the Post-Game Chat video hit my email.
My god i love all of these characters they re fantastic!! Lewis character really made me laugh
Mystery quest never disappoints, the major was an incredible character
This was an extremely entertaining little campaign! Everyone did their characters so well!!!
This was an absolute blast to watch! Thank you, tom (clark) & friends!
This has been my favorite series yet, keep up the awesome work
Found you lot tonight and absoloutly in love with the characters you created and there interactions
Lewis was amazing just have to Say The Major was Amazing very Amiibo in his Way 😂 the Elefant Gun 😂😂😂
The dice rolls this episode were crazy 😂
Amazing! Loved it! RIP Major
Simply commenting because this channel needs more attention
I'm sure this will go perfectly.
Man tom you smashed this, its so cool watching a pro handle the atmosphere. This was the only scenario i DMd and i also chose rupert as the illusion in the end haha
Yet again amazing series oh man!! The cast is absolutely amazing
Yay! Friday evening and time for a Mystery Quest ❤
Honestly, the elephant gun probably could kill the monster if they shot it while it was visible, as that also renders it vulnerable to normal damage. When I ran this for my friends they actually managed to kill the thing. As it turns out, 1 round of not being able to ignore damage is enough for a full mag from a Tommygun at point blank to kill just about anything. The book does not tell you what happens if the investigators kill the monster.
I think Lewis could have actually killed the lurker with that second shot judging from the face Tom made.

If he had hit it with the silver dust and then shot it twice lewis would have Solo’d the monster
Just to clarify: When dodging the defender wins ties, it is only in a fight back roll where the attacker would win. Moot point cause the demon rolled a 2. But yes, for your games, dodging is categorically safer than fighting back.
I freaking love this channel. What a great series
Super hyped for the conclusion to this one! I hope for more spooky ones
