Tom thinking 1993 was 20 years ago was the most relatable feeling.
No joke, would 100% watch Tom run a ant-kingdom-manager RPG for a group of Insectile-Imbicles! *This is a comment, for the Angorythm.*

This mystery is really picking up, and I'm digging it. I love how Lewis will just go balls out and do crazy shit in pretty much every game he's in, and every time he does it makes for awesome storytelling. Trying to pull his gun on them is the most Lewis thing he could have done. I also love seeing Mark and Trott outside of the usual High Rollers D&D style setting. Mark has absolutely killed it in both this and the Mork Borg games and clearly enjoyed playing with different mechanics. Not to mention getting to play instead of being the ever-DM. And especially glad Trott is here to add moments of light-hearted Taylor Swift inspired levity between bouts of madness and spider feasts. Meanwhile Lydia is just completely unphased by everything happening around her, definitely has final girl energy that she'll need to keep her alive.
Thank you editor, Bavarian gangsta rap could have been very different! Edit: Yes, getting ready to eat towards the end of this episode was an excellent idea!
The twist in the intro was PERFECT, I was imagining a completely different scene before it became an anthill

Not only does Michigan have a “Little Bavaria” called Frankenmuth, it’s only 20 minutes from Clio.
This was a wild ending, Mark's acting is always top notch. The way he acted out the spider eating really sent a shiver down my spine, just the face, mannerisms, and the way he spoke really got to me. Truly talented lad.
I love everybody's commitment to the story. With Lewis just wandering off into the house by himself, Mark's pushing the gun roll, and the entire table's enthusiasm with their temporary insanity. It's just so much fun to watch!
Mark: "Like when you say this 'sense of foreboding', like, it's really bad. Like, we feel like this is a dangerous place or is this just, like, we get unsettled, like...?" Tom: "It's... um... you just have this bad, bad feeling in your guts." This is the high-quality wordplay I come here for.
The Bavarian gangster rap part absolutely destroyed me lol
I thought I had a good idea of what had happened leading up to them losing their memories, but everything that happened when they got back to the house has thrown me. When Carter went temporarily insane and Mark was acting out eating the spiders, it gave me the heebie-jeebies. Absolutely disgusting and I love it, can't wait for the next episode.
So I just remembered a scene from the movie "Brothers Grimm", where a spooky guy feeds a horse spiders that spin webs and cacoons in its gullet and multiply. Giving the now pregnat looking horse "super powers" which it uses to tie up a child and eat them whole. And now I am super uncomfortable.

It's actually a published scenario! You can get your friends and give them a chance! A lot of the published scenarios for Cthulhu are actually quite good. Saturnine Chalice which the yogs previously did was one of those! I think The Disintegrator is a published scenario as well!

Oh shit! Man-eating spiders! Turns around and sees mark. Oh shit! Man eating spiders!
Lydia is definitely giving Final Girl vibes for this horror show XD
Trotts "Reds dead, baby?" got a good giggle out of me
I'd imagine if their taxi driver heard the gunshots, that he might've driven off and stranded them there.
Moment of appreciation for 31:00, that was such a perfect little fade in like "yeah how's that for bavarian gangsta rap, fucker?" i mean it's hardly gangsta rap but it's good enough, and it immediately brought the picture to my mind, the terrified scooby gang bundled in this mad car, speeding through glowing street lights and rain, driver casually carrying a conversation hardly looking at the road, cigarette in hand, "oh i love this track, stfu a sec" .......oh man i seriously need some germans to lay down some lyrics to that beat now xDD
That warm, fuzzy feeling of knowing that, without you, we wouldn't see Mark Humes eating mutant spiders. great...
goodness gracious, Tom is absolutely a wordsmith
55:54 just noticed the swallowing SFX oh god This episode is so good cause they actually let the horror in and don't laugh at it More from this group please!!
The spider scene was so beautifully horrific in a way in a way i can't explain. Loved it and felt sick to my stomach at the same time. Really made my dinner great, thanks Tom.
I really want to shout out the audio mixing and editing on this one - stuff like putting effects chains on the player mics when they are talking in character to match the reverb of rooms the characters are in is so so immersive! And the sound effects and music are on point too.
Last week I was really excited at the idea of them all having consumed some parasites, but after hearing that ending, suddenly very grossed out and scared, I love it!
I loved how much I hated that. I feel like the theories I keep coming up with keep being wrong, so excited to see how this plays out.

Getting a food delivery advert in the midst of the spider swallowing, surprisingly not hungry rn!

The spider eating was so very call of cthulhu. So gross but I love how much of a good sport Mark is. Really enjoying this one!!
You get the last one down *lip slap* is the best way to end.
the “footsteps nearing the stairs part” made me giga spooked!! so excited to see where this goes
Honestly would love to see Tom run a Monster of the Week campain
Tom my dad and I watch mystery quest every weekend together, we are loving this series (im also hating it but it a good way, im so creeped out and disturbed). I would love to become a member but im not in a financial position to do that so instead um just gonna pass on our support and tell you how much we both get so exited for the next episode of mystery quest each week.
Everything after them getting to the house is EXACTLY the kind of horror shit I’m looking for. I was genuinely uneasy. Love it. Also, the sound effects and music add so much to the atmosphere. Excellent job to whoever is responsible.
You all friggin nailed it once again. Mad props to everyone involved
This is one of my new favorite yogs channels. Love how the yogs teams have been growing and doing new things. Can't wait for them to start a channel like 40k in 40 minutes or something.
The volume of sanity checks makes this an absolutely brutal story. Lydia's character is the only one not losing their mind right now lol
This episode was so intense I literally and might I say very involuntarily yelled "NO!" when it ended. All the world's a stage and you my friends are very fine actors upon it, looking forward to next Saturday!
I’ve been watching all the old Dread Hunger videos while waiting on this week’s episode. I think it would be a really cool scenario to build a quest around
man i dont know how each campaign is more intense and spooky but wow this one has been great
Sitophobia comes from the Greek word sitos, which literally means that which is beaten or threshed. Where one reaps the crops, beats them off of the stock (threshing), and then winnows them to separate the chaff from the grain. Ancient Greeks used the word sitos to mean wheat, but also grains of any kind, breads, and even just food because the main food for ancient Greeks was bread made from grains. So sitophobia is interpreted as a fear of consuming food as one of the understandings of the word. You needed context to know which one was meant specifically in ancient times, but all are valid.
Between this, Tom's channel and Games night's last vid I think I may have Tom overdose this weekend
I've loved all the episodes from Mystery Quest so far but this series has been my favourite. Great storytelling and role-playing! So suspenseful!
this is absolutely the most horrific one yet, absolutely disgusting
Loving the Call of Cthulhu. I can't get enough! MORE TOM. MORE!
The tone on this has been absolutely incredible
Can we get a budget approved for this man to make a feature film? These round the table sets are better than most of the movies i have watched in the last 5 years.
literally gagging at the descriptions of mark hulmes thanks for that im still gonna watch nexts week now to get all caught up.
i listen to these while i eat. but after this one i dont do it anymore
It adds so much when Tom plays a character on the phone or radio or something and they edit his voice to match Edit: Lydia's character is just unphased no matter what happens, her grip on reality is unshakeable
Lydia is going to be the Final Girl of this one.
This campaign has had the most sanity checks I've ever seen lol.
@A2Ztigers

It's written into the book that way. The Investigators lose some sanity at the start from the memory loss situation, but they don't just have it subtracted immediately. If I lost 14 sanity from that first event, I'd keep having memories and stuff chipping away a few at a time until I'd lost 14, and then it would just be normal rules. That's why Tom does so many checks where they're still losing a couple sanity even if they pass, because their mental state is explicitly fragile.

You should play Coyote and Crow. At first glance it might not seem like the right theme or vibe for Mystery Quest but the setting has a newly discovered shadow dimension full of strange and incomprehensible monsters that occasionally wander into our world.

Absolutely loving the story and hating the spiders! Love your work tom and hope this channel keeps getting stronger. It truly shows the love you put into the work! Have a great one Yogs!
What a crazy scenario. I really like when the characters have their audio processed to sound like in the environment like a bit of reverb and such.
