As a Floridian there are some county's you don't F around in like Santa Rosa , Polk and Marion .

When we lived in Florida, my wife was stopped for speeding. The officer could see that my wife was very upset, and asked her what was wrong. My wife explained that she had just found out that her mother had died.. The officer let her go with a warning, and the advice to watch her speed. If my wife had been obnoxious to the officer, she would probably have gotten a ticket. By being truthful and respectful, my wife avoided a ticket.

As a former LEO (Cop), they have grounds to arrest her which is why they are reading her Maranda. They have discretion to give her a warning instead of arrest. Her cooperation and her honesty will determine if she gets arrested. Police are humans too. You deal with people like this who lie to your face, and despite the officer’s efforts to avoid an arresting her she refused to be civil. Police protocol doesn’t require a lack of empathy, only empathy under control, as he demonstrated. People need to take Citizen Police courses to see what they deal with constantly. Go through the simulations to see how well you do.

Why can't these idiots just be courteous and comply with the cop....In the vast majority of situations, they wouldn't end up in jail.

I have lived in Florida 37 years of my 71 years on the planet. In that time, I've been stopped by Police 3 times. The Officers involved were ALWAYS completely respectful.. I find that returning that respectful attitude reduced 2 possible citations to warnings. The 3rd did end with a citation. I paid the fine because I was guilty of the offense.. Most folks who live in Florida are from out of state. 90% of those folks LOVE Florida and for the same reasons Native residents do. So, don't come to Florida thinking we're a bunch of ignorant people who will echo the talking points from the state you're fleeing from.. KEEP FLORIDA BEAUTIFUL AND DON'T LITTER... Then enjoy our wonderful state😊

Florida is no joke. As long as you are completely sober, no drinking no drugs no speeding and wear your seatbelt. Use your blinkers and follow the driving laws. You’re pretty much OK you fuck up on one of those things you’re getting pulled over in Florida.

First thing I would like to note is that informing the female of the daily cost of the impound is not necessarily "emotional". Often departments have policies that this information must be given so the subject can make an informed decision on the status of their vehicle. Now, when he said, " good luck getting it out of there", that was a bit of a gloat out of frustration. And YES Florida is a constitutional carry state since 2023...

I'm from Australia and drove across America for 3 months, only pulled over a few times and found the police in different states to be polite and professional, obviously your attitude towards the police is part of the equation

I think generally non-urban police want a quit life and if they haven't seen you before will give you a warning (unless they are having a bad day). Their tolerance for this type of bullshit, however, does seem to be very low, and who can blame them. An apology and contrition go a long way.

UK here.. i have heard from people all over America that people from California think the world revolves around them but, to see this first hand is insane. she is acting like a spoilt brat. have no doubt she has been involved with the police back in California. OMG she just said "sovereign citizen" that says it all.. these people are insane, you are born in that country, your a citizen of that country. these people believed Lethal Weapon 2 was a real thing for them lmao.. even if people like me (if i was allowed to visit) commit a crime, we are still being arrested lol.....

As a native Californian I say put this woman in jail for as long as the law allows.

I was born and raised in Florida. In my lifetime (67 years) I have been pulled over by the police for different reasons. No matter the reason, I was always polite with policeman and did what he asked of me. I was never put in handcuffs, never arrested, and never got a ticket. If you treat them with respect, they will treat you with respect.

Had someone from California move into my neighborhood and they immediately found out what it meant to live in Southern Maryland. They began to say they have rights to other peoples property, in specific, they stole someone's bike, another person's Lawnmower, the president of the HOA's grill. That's when the police finally got involved and boy they were spitting all kinds of word salads. They were talking about having rights for all kinds of stuff they simply did not have rights too.

I’ve lived in Florida my whole life and one of the most important things to know is that you don’t act a fool with police. Be polite and respectful or they will screw you every possible way they can and they don’t hesitate to get physical.

It’s amazing she made it all the way from California to Florida without being stopped for an obstructed license plate. Then there’s speeding, the smell of alcohol, an open alcohol container, a rifle in plain view and possibly illegal tint. They win the Darwin Award.

A lot of states are full of "green rules" so I suspect the reason is similar to what is going on in my city. The City Council here requested that all city departments try to be "green" in reducing carbon emissions. That also meant the police cruisers no longer cruised around semi-aimlessly to look for problems as well as advertise their presence in an attempt to deter crime. They generally pick a strategic place to park while waiting for another service call. Because they don't cruise around, there is a high chance someone like this california girl can drive right through without any police car ever being able to scan her plates

FL is a conceal carry state, and recently changed the law that you don't need a permit. Yes, you have to inform the police if you have gun. There is a push to make FL an open carry.

Having a license just ensures agencies that you are a law-abiding citizen. The only privilege it really grants you is not having to wait a week to get your new shiny tool out of the store, because you're in the system, along with your fingerprints. This way, they have less potential unlawful/negligent use to worry about because not that many people are stupid enough to go through that whole process just to be an idiot about their responsibility as a gun owner.

you do not have to inform law enforcement you have a gun unless you are asked if you are carrying. Guns in cars have to be encased.

This is why Florida is doing so well, and California is falling off. It's a shame actually, because California is such a beautiful state.

In the state of Florida you do have the right to decline to take the breathalyzer test however if you do it is an automatic suspension of your license. I believe that is how it works.

I live in florida. Laws are inforced here. I love it. Keeps us safe. And in ALL states you have to inform an officer if you have weapons or drugs if you are arrested.

1st day in Florida. She has the right to remain silent but doesnt have the ability. Her life appears to be an entire list of bad decisions. None of her crazy acts work in California either.

If you're in handcuffs and in the back of a squad car, consider yourself under arrest. Shut up and act accordingly.

Floridian here. We are now a constitutional carry state. Fairly recent. Concealed only, though, unless fishing, hunting, and a few other activities. I still keep my CWP current, so i don't have to wait when buying guns.

If your being detained you can't walk away until after the detention he's reading her rights so he can question her during his investigation and her words can be used against her in court.

I'm in an open carry state (AZ) and here you have to answer when they ask if there are any firearms in the car. I was pulled over a couple yrs ago. I told the cop I had a 9mm under the steering column. He said "ok, don't reach for yours and I won't reach for mine" and that was the end of it. He gave me a warning for speed and I went on my way.

Yeah if you're not acting or looking like a total spaz the police are usually chill about firearms in AZ. Just have your info ready, keep your hands visible, don't do dumb things and you're likely to have a much more positive encounter.

Come to the Panhandle for Spring Break; Leave with probation, two parking tickets, and a suspended license for a year.

The police have a hard job when they encounter foolish ppl like this. And it’s hard not to get emotional w/ppl who are playing games & they’re trying to do their job.

The officer is not getting emotional by telling her that each day the vehicle sits at the impound. You may have missed it but he first asked if she had someone within 15 minutes to pickup her vehicle and she refused to answer.

This woman found out that Florida is NOT Commifornia.
