Wine Country, with over 800 wineries, is the region of California, in the northern Bay Area, known worldwide as a premier wine-growing region. The region is famed for its wineries, its cuisine, Michelin star restaurants, boutique hotels, luxury resorts, historic architecture, and culture. Viticulture and wine-making have been practiced in the region since the Spanish missionaries from Mission San Francisco Solano established the first vineyards in 1812.
There are over 800 wineries in the North San Francisco Bay Area, mostly located in the area's valleys, including Napa Valley in Napa County, and the Sonoma Valley, Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Bennett Valley, and Russian River Valley in Sonoma County. Wine grapes are also grown at higher elevations, such as Atlas Peak and Mount Veeder AVAs. Cities and towns associated with the Wine Country include Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, Sonoma, Kenwood, Petaluma, Sebastopol, Guerneville, Windsor, Geyserville, and Cloverdale in Sonoma County; Napa, Yountville, Rutherford, St. Helena and Calistoga in Napa County; and Hopland and Ukiah in Mendocino County. Wine is also becoming an important part of the economy in nearby Lake and Solano Counties: in 2014, Lake County surpassed Mendocino County in price paid per ton of grapes in the North Coast premium market.

@@rcrhinehart66 this is a nice part I agree, but the scenery Ive seen on arroyo seco road near Greenfield,nacimiento Fergusson road, Carmel valley road, route 25 heading south past Hollister,and of course rt 1 in Big Sur is far prettier than here.even rt 46, heading west to the coast from Paso Robles, past the crest of 46, the westward side is amazing ...and I'm not even mentioning the my Shasta area....or Yosemite...not knocking this video at all...it was nicely done.but their is far prettier places in the Golden State.

@@rcrhinehart66 Oh come now. The Bay Area, Los Angeles and San Diego all have dynamic Public Transportation. The Fact YOu never ride does not make it less so. I wish they built faster but that is for another discussion. I ride daily in Los Angeles to work and truly do not know what I would do without it.

These videos are the best. What? More than an hour? Really? Yeah really. Now the real fun begins.
I drove from San Diego to Bakersfield, King's Canyon (Redwoods), Fresno and back southwards along the coast (passing Santa Barbara and LA). Never been to America before, it was amazing.
Santa Rosa Native here.. I moved to LA for college then came back. Nothing is more beautiful than Sonoma County
It's crazy because I grew up here so I used to take it for granted, but it really is something spectacular to witness!

Finally! I love how this video about California is not just same Los Angeles and San Diego. This video includes Nor Cal; so many people forget about us up here. We got fine wine and cheese. Lol

Thanks so much for the great drive! I am retired now to Palm Springs but miss San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma and Napa so much. Use to go wine tasting and picnicking there along your route back in the day when tasting was mostly free. Great memories now more special than ever in the current shelter-in-place world. I lived in bay area from 2003 to 2019 .16 years straight .I moved back to india last year but lot lot of memories from San Francisco ,Oakland ,marin ,santa rosa .,sanjose ,Fremont ,Berkeley .I will be back some day 🙏

@@jasoncamacho4855 I worked in Windsor for one year in liquor store and in next town heldsburg .I lived in Santa Rosa for couple of years but don't like it as much I like Windsor and heldsburg .These town are only ten minutes apart but it's a culture shock .I mean lot of crimes and weird people up in Santa Rosa but Windsor is charming town and peaceful .😊

It's a very big country and most of it doesn't look like that at all. Unless you make $200,000+ per year you wouldn't be able to afford living anywhere near that area.

Mr. Chiweeni I live about 45 mins north of San Francisco and although it is pricey to live here it not impossible . It’s a very beautiful place tho. There’s views literally everywhere and the country side is just amazing

I've ridden my motorcycle past all these vineyards and I will say it's surreal. .it's beautiful. .and every gas station has a wine room [like a converted auto station]. You get this feel of traditions going back to the old country [European countries] are in the Napa wine valley.

I take my local scenery and weather for granted. The heat can get insufferable at times, but damn is the rest of the year's perfect weather worth it; love the rain season.

I followed the video completely, and I felt that myself was leaving my body, which was a yearning and love to live in such a region, and a feeling of comfort and reassurance. I do not want more than 4 years. I cannot return to my country due to the wars in my country, Yemen. I have not been able to meet my family for more than 4 years. I wish to live just like you. Do we have the right to live like you? I hope that and I hope whoever has the ability to help me live aside and I will be a brother to him and a friend for life and I will fulfill my promise because my life has become completely dark. My sister and brother-in-law lived in Sonoma for while a few years ago and they really liked it. Seeing it here, I can understand why. It's a beautiful area. By the way, when you're driving through San Francisco, how do you resist the temptation to hit the gas and jump those hills? lol
It was a very good drive. Clean city, lake (is it the sea?), bridge, tunnel, small mountains...
