Those purple flowers around the 37 minute mark were Ice Plant. Also, while in the area, San Simion and Hearst Castle are worth a visit.
This is my hometown big brother. Grew up in San Luis Obispo and graduated from Arroyo Grande high school. Thank you so much for the memories brother.
HEY,HEY, RVerTV Russ, Thanks for getting us out again. 👍
Since you're this close, you should go on up to Hearst Castle. Since you would be in that area, go to San Simeon and check out the elephant seals on the beach. It's amazing how large the beach masters can get.
Route 58 looks like a real upper body workout.😊

I drive empty 26’ box trucks on that hellish road. Can ya say heave?
Thanks Russ for showing me home I miss the ocean, always will. Funny how our perception of temperature changes as we age. When I was younger the ocean never seemed to be cold but now at 75 there is No more running and diving in. Thanks again.
They’re called ice plants! Used to spend a couple weeks at Moro Bay,golfed in San Louis Obispo. Stayed at the elks lodge several times, even stayed for New Years Eve party! So much fun! What memories!
Hi Russ that brings memories back to me I was raised there we use to pick cotton and now it's all orcherds and yes the flower 🌼 are beautiful 😍 safe travels..
Just the other day my husband said he'd like to go back to Morro Bay. We both grew up in the San Juaquin Valley but have lived in Hawaii for the past 26 years. We spent many weekends at Morro Bay in our 5th wheel. Lots of good memories. Much Aloha. ❤
I hear tell after all the heavy snow and runoff there just might be gold to be found 😊
I love it there! I lived in SLO and Pismo, Grover and Oceano beaches. And lived in Morrow for a bit with my 5th wheel. Morrow Bay is one of my faves to be now. There is a camp ground up the road that takes you into Paso Robles that I love! It's really cool. It's a little bit inland. But not enough to not get the ocean breezes. If you can't get on the beach camp ground and people do not want to be far from the beach it is really nice. Huge camp sites that are each pretty private. Great for families or a group. It's nice to go check it out. I have to remember which road. I believe it's the 41.
Happy Trails , U.S.A. , Russ , RVerTV Fans. We LOVE RVerTV - BEST TV ON KZread. Thank you Russ.😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Wow Beautiful flowers 💐!! THANKS for Sharing!
Glad to see you in Morro Bay. My home away from home in the Central Valley. We stay right there at the RV Park at the Dunes several times a year. I love it there. That creek raged an overflow about a month ago from all our rain and flooded a lot of that area. A lot of debris from the flood is still there and it changed the topography somewhat right in that sand dune area.
Hey Russ, great video. With you videos it makes me feels like I am riding in the seat next to you. Thanks for your videos. Some of these valley scenes reminds me of the show "The Big Valley" westerns of the 60's
Howdy Russ, thanks for the ride! I'm headed down that way in a couple of days--yay! You kind of missed out on the Carizzo Plain and Soda Lake when you drove through that big valley after the wildflowers--there's really no place like it in California. (If you plan in advance, a tour of Painted Rock is highly recommended). Morro Rock sightseeing tip: take the walkway on the southern side all the way to the far end of the rock and you'll see hundreds of stacked rock cairns, sort of a DIY sculpture garden. Enjoy your time in California, Russ...happy trails!
Santa Barbarian here. Great video…btw- just got out of the ocean for a dip. Yes it’s cold 🥶 but you’ll feel like a millions bucks!
Lovely, lovely, lovely!🌹 Thank you for another drive. Some of these palm trees are amazing-so tall and skinny and yet growing up straight. Take care.
Very cool Mr. Russ, enjoyed the ride along great scenery👍✌
I am so glad you went through that winding road! That valley on Hwy 58 was so beautiful, I can see why the pioneers found California to be the promise land! Than you for looking for the super bloom💕🌺
I grew up here. My grandparents owned the only theater for a bit. My older sister and I lived above with our Dad. We had a perfect view of the Rock. The HS is next to the beach. We used to run on the beach instead of the track. My family first came to the area in 1769.
Thanks for the ride…”you don’t know me but you don’t like me, say you care less how I feel, how many of you who sit and judge me ever walked the streets of Bakersfield.” 😊
Such a memorable trip! I just love that drive! Lots of trucks!
All these orchards is where all your water is going.
Great video Russ, really enjoyed this one. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
🙋♀Hello Russ! I liked seeing the Orange Orchard. Beautiful aerial view of the superbloom. I loved getting to the ocean. seeing the rock, the purple flowers, the fog. I've been enjoying some sweet strawberries here in Va. just picked from N.C. I really enjoyed this!👍
Beautiful California, thanks for the great views!
This 2 parter has been great!
Wow Russ the California Super Bloom was SUPER! Thank you for filming it for us! I’ll watch this one over and over! Morris Bay is gorgeous too! ❤️😀🇺🇸🚙🌳
The yellow wildflowers on top of the mountains are just Gorgeous!! Ty for taking us along.
From the Super bloom to the sea - Fabulous drive! 👍
Absolutely Beautiful! That drone footage is awesome!

@The American Dreamed that "eye sore" is part of Morro Bay. The town nickname is Three Stacks and a Rock. Sorry you don't like it but the people who have lived there for more than a couple of minutes, love the 3 stack .I sure I could find something "disgusting" where you live.
California here i come, right back where i started from. Enjoy your trip, I'll be watching. Safe Travels
Thanks for taking me along on that wonderful ride.
Health and Blessings to you, with love from Maryland 🌻
Don't forget your fishing gear and hiking boots... Love your Videos!!
Taken family a few time over the years to Morro bay. Love the place! Thanks for taking me back again!😊
Orange Grove RV Park is always our one night pit stop on the way to Death Valley or Arizona. We like to wake up fresh before we hit Tehachapi. Our whole neighborhood always orders oranges when we go there on the way home because they are so sweet. I harvest an entire bucket when I am there LOL
Edmonton 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🤓👋
Oil wells, woohoo! When I was a kid we would drive from Tulsa to Sacramento.. Going through Bakersfield was fun to see all the fruit trees..
Oh and also a beautiful rv park that's just outside of the town. You turn where it takes you to Los Osos. It's really reasonable. It's not fancy but quiet and has all you need. It's got pretty views into a bright green little meadow woodland spot. Full of wildlife. And it's right below the 3 sister cluster of ancient volcanos. You feel like it's Ireland or something with all the green and big rocks. It's right off Hwy 1. Coming in from San Luis Obispo.
Having lived in the desert for most of my life I really love the ocean. One of your best videos ever. Hearst Castle would be something to see as well, assuming they will let you film there.
nice channel russ its like im riding in passenger seat thanks for the driving videos god bless you on your retirement travels
Beautiful and stunning views of the ride, enjoy watching from Ohio, thank you!! 🙂
7 mile road goes to carrizo plain national monument. 3 weeks ago it was loaded with flowers.
Figures, we finally get to Quartzite, and you are off goofing off on the coast. 😆
The hills and rock formation at the beach were awesome to see!
Oh what a wonderful video . The sounds if the ocean, the flowers , the sand, the sun......you make it so real 🎉
Glad you could make it out to the California Central Coast, my home region! The wildflowers were awesome this year, you should have seen them last month🌼 on CA 58! Enjoy your time here along the Pacific!
I live in Arkansas. I've been watching your channel for awhile now. I lived in Tulare, CA for a year, loved it! My favorite place to go is Pismo Beach. I stayed several times at the Sea Gypsy Motel, you can walk right out the back door onto the beach. The rooms have balconies. A very romantic place to stay! This video is a great reminder, makes me want to go back now. I was in California a few years ago on vacation during the last super bloom. Loved seeing the poppies. Thanks for the ride along!
Fun road trip. Great drone shots safe travels
You need to check out San Diego's fiesta island or a super Bloom. You won't believe and it's an easy drive around the island close to every place in San Diego.
The Penny Bar and Cafe in McKitrick is a great place to stop for lunch!
Beautiful drive Russ!! Too cool 😎 4 School
While in Morro Bay, you may want to visit Morro Bay State Park (there's a nice boardwalk that goes along the harbor and the wetlands). There's also Montaña de Oro State Park - parking is free and the trails are very easy and scenic. Just be aware that the road through the park is a bit narrow and has a few tight turns.
On the first Cailfornia video, the Orange Grove RV park, I would like to visit there twice a year if I lived closer. When it blooms and when they have the harvest. This video has an amazing drive through the hills to see the superbloom especially your drone footage. The cherry on top was to see the Pacific ocean. TY Russ safe travels.
I immensely enjoyed this ride to Morro Bay! Pretty flowers too! Thanks, Russ☺️
I Can't believe you drove right by Carrizo Plain it's full of wild flowers..Beautiful Place.
I’m from SLO county. We have a Walmart right off the 101 in Arroyo Grande and Paso Robles. There’s a Costco right off the highway in SLO. For next time. 😁 You did us proud with this episode. Beautiful 😍.
Great great video good job thank you I have seen all your videos you do good love them
Perfect Sunday drive. Thought I heard theme song from Hawaii 5 -O ! Enjoy!
Hey Russ, thanks for taking us along. I spent most of my adult life in Paso Robles. Beautiful drive.
Awesome! Haven’t watched yet, but I bet you captured the super bloom! 🎉
Morro Bay was my first ever trip to the ocean. It's so beautiful. Thanks for the ride along. Be well.
Lovely. Will pickup last 15 mins tonight. Thanks for taking us along, Russ. UPDATE: Wow you sure scored a great site. What a view!
Hi there. I'm really enjoying your trip to Morro Bay, and I'm following allowing along using my 2023 Rand McNally Road Atlas. It's a lot of fun. The last time I was at MB was in 1982 or 83. I wish though I can go in person, but I'm a caregiver to a family member who is bedridden. It's basically a 24/7 job. So, in a sense, this is my getaway. Thank you and God bless. Michelle of Los Angeles. It's a lot of fun.
LOOKS like the way to Hollywood
Beautiful place Russ.
Up here in Northern California, just North if the Napa Valley, we normally see our wildflowers bloom in February....and don’t blink or you’ll miss it! BUT ...this year, the bloom is just starting, and to the rain keeps coming thru! Last week we had a single day 90 degree high that followed a series of storms and the previous dail high had only reached mid 60s! Whiplash weather is toying with humans and nature’s own mass confusion! On a single day last week the 90 degree temp prompted the RV air conditioning to get turned on ....yet that night, it dipped into the upper 30s and the heater needed a run! I was hoping for some spring like weather in the upper 60s to low 70s.....never managed those since we jumped from the 50s to the 90s in 2 days! The deer are heavily pregnant, ready for those little spotted fawns to meet the world, but they are so confused with this weather, even the older does are staring at the clouds floating by, and hearing distant thunder moving closer....as the earth keeps quaking under us all!😮😊
The problem with coming to Morro Bay is that you won't want to leave...lol!
The spring bloom here on the central coast has been happening in a kind of slow motion this year. The blue/violet colored miniature lupine are now happening in huge quantities. Before that, various coastal chaparral blooming more than I've ever seen it. Color everywhere. Out hiking in them everyday with the dog and it's been interesting to see it play out over such a slow moving event. Also, something called "vernal ponds". They went dry for years during the drought and finally saw them come back this year complete with ducks swimming in them. And with all the water, lots and lots of ticks. Our poor Labrador knows the word, "tick" and hates it. You can't even spell it. She knows! That's because plucking them off hurts sometimes when you miss and get a bit of fur too. Go walking in the wild flowers then check your pants for creepy crawlers, lol. Anyway great vid. Never been up 58 so it was nice to see this video. Sure is pretty over there. PS; get "PICTURE THIS" app to identify wildlife. Cheers. 👍
Great video looks so peaceful tks for letting us tag along.😅😅😅😅
Awesome video Russ!
You're about 2 weeks late for the peak bloom. It lasted from the beginning of April until about the 20th. If you ever get the chance to visit during after another wet winter, visit again in early April and set your GPS to take you to Soda Lake. There's a boardwalk and in wet years like this one the lake is full, isolated, and incredibly beautiful. And there's a chance you'll see antelope, roadrunners, and elk. The big flat area where Soda Lake is, is called the Carrizo Plain. There's also a llama farm and a buffalo farm along Hwy 58 in that isolated area between the Carrizo Plain and the coast.

감사합니다(Thank you). 대한민국 서울에서도 잘 구경하고 있습니다.(I am enjoying your tour even in Seoul, South Korea)
I saw the 3 stacks of PGE Diablo Cyn.. I worked there when it was just getting it up n running. Back n the day 😃.
Fabulous trip, haven’t seen the Pacific Ocean in ten years, Bakersfield, used to dance at Buck Owen’s Chrystal Palace, lol. Thank for the memories, and lovely flower views. 😊❤️
Thanks for taking us with you! Has been some time since I drove and been in those areas. The flowers were beautiful. and of course seeing the rock and the waves. Seeing the birds enjoying that fresh water was also cool. I could sit and watch waves all day and the surfers too. I appreciate that you also show a shot of the map once in a while so we can orient ourselves. Just like traveling there with you !
YAY!!!!
You always give such a good narration and description of what you see. Thanks for all the good trips.
Love the ocean
powell wyoming
LOVE IT THAnks a lot
The first motel was built in San Luis Obispo.
Thanks for all the memories. Great video.
Nice beach not froggy
I Googled Bakersfield to the ocean , I had no idea we were only a138 miles away. I knew we were close, I want overs. Lol
We love your interesting travel videos, usually watch your youtube channel on our Roku TV device.
I just loooooove the landscape in California! I know the politics are destroying this beautiful state and making it next to nearly impossible to live there but man...I travel there whenever I can afford too...which isn't often these days...I went in 2014 and then at the beginning of this year...really great trips...I realized in 2014 how much I love the ocean/being near water...I really hope one day, someday to be living closer to the ocean. (I live in Phoenix, the EXACT opposite!)

Kevin McCarthy represents a city (Bakersfield ) with one of the highest homicide rates in the country.
It's always interesting seeing and hearing anothers thoughts on the place I was raised and live! That drive takes you through where I grew up, live and work now lol That was great, thank you!
If you're still in the area I would suggest you go check out just south of the city of Morro Bay the Montana De Oro State Park, it is magnificent!
Enjoyed your Live on May 21! This was a great ride, thank you! You're so cool!
If you're still in California, try going to Fountain of Youth RV park.
We used to live in that area. MB is one of our favorite spots. Best time to visit is in the fall because it's usually clear sky and no fog. Carrisa Plains on Hwy 58 is known for its wildflower blooms in spring. There's a real pretty drive out of Cayucos called Old Creek Road. It takes you to Hwy 46 which takes you either to Paso Robles or back to Highway 1. If you go back to Hwy 1, you get some great views of the ocean from up high on the hills. Also, that's where Hearst's Castle is--but it's pricey. The town of Cambria on Highway 1 is also interesting.
The ranch on hwy 58 just before Santa Margarita is the Camatta Ranch. It's over 50K acres and has bison, exotic deer, pigs and other wild life. They do boar hunts, lots of outdoor activities including cowboy action shooting ( home of PRVC ) and cabin rentals.

Use to lease grazing rights near Camatta Ranch years ago. CA was home for 36 yrs back in the day. Loved it. Left in 1998 / after working all that area in this video.
Seeing all of these Dunes makes me want to take my Sand Toys out.
You need to stop in Salvang. A beautiful dutch style town.

Russ, You gotta head up to Cambria for some of the BEST BBQ at the "Main Street Grill!" Just a few miles north of Cambria, to check out the, Hearst Castle, the lighthouse, and of course.... the elephant seals. They dive to deaths of 2000' for grub. Thanks for the drive on 58 with the spectacular bloomage!! I've traveled every other road east to west in Central CA, but my first time on 58, thanks to you and wonderful camera work and cameras (and Mr. Drone)😊. Thanks a lot Russ! Lompoc Mikel
Hey Russ, you were my hometown at orange grove rv, sure would of been cool to meet ya!👋🏽👋🏽 Enjoy the coast, we’ll be there in a couple weeks. 👍🏽(Morro Bay)
