California Snowmelt SURGE - Southern Sierra Nevada (June 2023)
June 18th, 2023: The Kern River is going CRAZY thanks to the second snowiest winter on record in the Sierra Nevada. Lake Isabella is at over 200% of normal capacity and the Lower Kern is behaving as if it is the end of the ice age. This raging whitewater is tempered as it enters the San Joaquin Valley, some of which ends up in ancient Tulare Lake.

I have gone Trout Fishing & on guided river tours on the Kern. The Kern River really is fascinating.
