California's Idiotic Electric Truck Mandate

California is requiring half on all trucks sold by 2035 to be electric. Andrew Boyle, first vice chairman of American Trucking Associations, explains why only an idiot would think such a notion could succeed. libertypen.substack.com

I'm a truck driver, and I'm so glad that people who have zero experience in the industry are setting standards. I can't wait till they set safety standards and miles per kilowatt hour requirements just so I can have more paperwork to do while in the hospital. What a Brave New(some) World.

If you want to live you need to get out of that toxic waste land called CA. Fight them if you can. But if you can't, get out so don't let them feed on your dead body.

@@jamesdavis9036 do you think its just nihilism, wanting to destroy society for the sake of it? Hard to believe. They are part of society as well. More likely is give a fool the power to control a population, and they will control, even in areas they have no understanding.

@@jamesdavis9036You are correct. They are not fools. It's agenda 2030 and mandating every state in the country be like Kalifornia because they're so progressively Communist.

electric trucks are fine as long as each one carries around a 500hp generator to power it. Then if the power did go out 1 truck could power the entire neighborhood.

It won't, but what it will do is cause complete and total chaos. Of course, then the Nat Guard or some other govt agency has to step in an quash the deplorables for wanting their stuff and not obeying the laws. They'll make these people out to be anti-prosperity or anti-sustainable. Then, when CBDC becomes mandatory, they have us by the balls.

I work at an airport for a ground handling company that has almost an entire fleet of electric vehicles. None of these vehicles can make it through an entire working day without requiring recharging. This is despite the fact that driving speeds are heavily restricted, distances are relatively short and that the entire area is virtually flat. Vehicles also rarely are able to be fully recharged before going back into use, due to the nature of this around the clock working environment. This then affects the work itself as you cannot use the vehicles for he duration of your shift, without having to find a replacement while the first one is recharging. For us as workers, it makes our jobs so much more difficult because you can't just fill tank up and continue working. I can only imagine that electric trucks will be an absolute nightmare or those drivers who will someday have to deal with their massive shortcomings. All of these kinds of decisions are made by people who have no freaking idea about what it is like to do the actual work itself. They are just living in fantasy land with all of their ideals that cannot work in actual practise.

The man is simply saying they need more energy for this. This requires at minimum doubling the grid energy "production" before such things can become viable. Also keep shipping by rail it is the more fuel efficient solution and truck for last mile from track to final destination.

Over a century ago the US was served quite well by trains. Big oil destroyed the rail systems and then all the highways were built, creating an automobile bases society. Railroads are much better than trucks for many reasons.

When the items dont get to stores, hospitals, restaurants when there needed it will already too late. Government work for who has the biggest pockets and it not the voters. We the 😅people already been saying the technology isn't here yet and that's just charging the cars and driving across country as we already do for business or vacation.
