California's Chumash tribe push to conserve their ancestral coastline
The Chumash tribe have been fighting industrialization along the California coast, working to conserve the marine ecosystem that has been cared for for generations. In partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Chumash tribe is now months away from potentially being the first Indigenous group have its own marine sanctuary. Congratulations to the Natives. We were there a year or so ago and whenever I’m sad I go back there in my mind to find solace. It is by far one of, if not, the most beautiful places on earth. I told my family when I pass away to spread my ashes here so I can be happy and at peace. I wish we could move to there. Thank you for this story. Protect marine life.

The Indigenous Peoples were the 1st to conserve the lands and waters. They never over hunted, never over fished anywhere. They beleive that we must protect Mother Earth . And they are so right.
I wonder how long that partnership had been overlooking them

Awesome! Great to hear. Would also be great to have an added area for wind energy farming. Oregon is currently voting on theirs. Wind farms and protected marine areas can co exist. We can’t continue to frack elsewhere for energy here. And the locals need these high paying jobs of the future. We are way behind in off shore wind. The common understanding is that the petroleum funded ad campaigns claiming that wind energy kills birds is truth. This is not truth. ❤
