Yep. The Japanese have been using it for about 2 decades. When an earthquake occurs, this alert is broadcast around the prefecture(s) that it occurs(for example, Fukushima/Miyagi which had an earthquake about 15 minutes prior to my comment). I wish they would use it in America. That would be really cool.

Now that’s actually really creative! Good job!

0:58 At first I thought "WTF [shindo] 7?! That's the maximum intensity!!", because I knew the earthquake wasn't that big (the 7.1 one is bigger and stronger), then seconds later I just realised that the 7 is the MMI one, not the shindo one. It was still quite strong, though.

Living in California, I'd actually like to see something like this implemented.

i don’t remember exactly what font i used but I think it was pretty standard. i was able to compress it horizontally in after effects which is why it looks unique

There is no early earthquake warning in California I only hear in japan

Sorry about that :) The EAS sound is also meant to turn on TV receivers automatically so people can be notified of an emergency. That is why I used it. Japan also has a similar tone when tsunami warnings are issued to turn on TVs, but it is still a lot less terrifying.

Yeah, it's just a concept vid. Also, in my opinion, I think they should use the Japanese (NHK) sound in California because it would create a good international standard for earthquake warnings. This way, people all over the world would immediately recognize the sound so they could react within seconds.
