California battered by heavy rain and historic snow

From rocks giving way along a central California highway to erosion from heavy rains causing an RV to plunge into a river, the massive winter storm has left California in rough shape. A new storm has since moved into the Northwest, bringing blizzard-like conditions to the Sierra Nevada with an additional two to six feet of snow by Tuesday.

Yes, diesel trucks are still being used now because they're just there but eventually they'll go electric, just like our cars, buses, bikes, scooters, and public transport. I use to live in southern California and I can say that any kind of downpour is devastating because of the none stop droughts and fires every year including the pollution from the 100 cars a mile as in there are one hundred vesicles per mile so when you add that into the mix plus the hundreds of fires each and every year and add in the fact that southern California has acid rain you have to ask yourself this question why are people living in a area that is getting hotter and hotter every year and people are dieing of heat strokes by the thousands each and every year!!! That's why I and my mother left for Anchorage Alaska in December the 5 1996.

California may not be perfect, but I would not want to live anywhere else. Not sure where you come up with all of the wild claims. You make it sound like people are dying all over due to apocalyptic conditions, like it is some version of a Mad Max movie. Nothing like that whatsoever. Again, not perfect, but happy to be in California. We definitely needed the rain and snow, just unfortunate for the individuals who were adversely impacted.

I live in the center of Los Angeles county & at the bottom of the Hollywood hills/Hollywood sign. The rain here was mild mainly just sprinkle on and off a few days & only the first half of Friday we had what I would call actual rain but still not really pouring, I was driving in it & it was nothing but I grew up in WI with weather. I was outside on and off the first half of that day when there was rain. There was bad wind gusts that night. People are thinking there was snow in Hollywood & there definitely wasn’t snow all over the ground here. And lows hadn’t fallen below 40’s so that also tells you. It’s been 40’s lows & 50’s highs. And these temps happen every winter here usually for a few weeks. The closest place with snow I believe was the Angeles National forest San Gabriel Mountian range which is huge & gets snow every year. It stretches almost 2hr drive east of me & believe it or not it’s all part of Los Angeles county.

The woman cannot even answer the question about potential injuries with the RV dropping below! What is the point of being a reporter when you cannot answer a basic question about the incident.

Not clear what the major big deal is. We in the Alaska, mid West & NW regions of the US deal with this on a continued rolling basis each winter under much worse conditions than these [black ice, white outs, pipes freezing, snow tires, chains, food/ water/medicine storage/wood pile, etc] & are prepared accordingly to survive; otherwise you dont.
