Quand le ciel manque de lumière, quand la vie résonne un peu triste, quand je me suis pris des vents et des portes claquées au nez, j’écoute Calexico, en live de préférence, et je suis sûr d’y trouver du soleil, du cœur, des idées de lumière et je regarde autrement l’horizon. Ce groupe fait partie des dons du ciel, de l’air, de la vie : à consommer sans modération ! Merci à l'Ancienne Belgique pour ce superbe concert chez mes cousins belges, que je salue affectueusement ! Bien tendrement.

splendide - je sais ce que tu sens avec eux , une source de jouvence aux qualités illimitées ....je les ai vu 18 fois depuis 1999 et j'ai toujours adoré l'ambiance qui règne et cette élégance naturelle qu'ils ont d'être heureux inspire .

All these current self-congratulatory music award ceremonies, reflecting sales figures, hype and nothing else, that are foisted on us - forget quality - leave me cold. Calexico are one of many bands/artists that bring us the joy of music. Excellent live. Me gusta mucho.

Guys trust me, if you get the chance to see them live, just do it! Every cent is worth it. The best thing (besides the musical quality) is they're not mainstream at all and in the end of the concert you can even have a talk to them.

people are also so uplifted after 2 hours ( like here , and i was in the crowd ) , they just can't get enough of it - thats impressive , wonderful , authentic .

+Patrick Sans check their new 2016 Tour dates - they are back to Belgium too - we are seriously blessed by Calexico - they will be playing 15 kms from where i live on the 28 th april . One more joy - especially with Gabi Moreno , that girl has the heart and talent .

+Jean-michel Cornil thank you, i just went to the Lille concert last saturday. The aeronef in Lille is a very good space for live concerts and everething was great. Joey played with Gaby in the first song and the musicians entered one by one to be finally Calexico and Gaby Moreno!!! Joey and all the musicians are great and simple. Very nice atmosphere of joy and peace. Thank you Calexico. Hope to see you soon.

***** Happy to hear u enjoyed them - they are one special band . I have followed them since 1999 ( and unfortunately missed the Aeronef Concert in 1998 ). This will be my 19th time and they only got better with each album Tour . They love Europe and Europe loves them .

Dear Jean Michel, if you saw them 19 times , you are an absolute fan !!! I just discovered them last year and hope to see them again. Joey and the gang are so simple and nice . Beautiful attitude and music. I also appreciated the very reasonable price of the show, which demonstrate they really play for music and probably not for money...love them too.

***** totally agree Patrick - those guys are humble , creative , know well how the feedback loops work that motivate them to go on Being and sharing their best . I will go to the show tonight with the same joy i had in 1999. On top of that , they come again in Belgium this summer ( Cactus festival ) - i saw them twice over there already and its one of the nicest summer fest . They seem to have managed to make their living through the years which is even greater . They sure love Belgium - as the last years show was retransmitted Live from the Ancienne Belgique . Wishing u well

Thank you Neko Case! I would not have "discovered" Calexico had I not found the video of Tapping on the Line with Neko singing (she appears on their new recording). Aside from her phenomenal solo career she seems to have a predilection for interesting song writing and large scale almost orchestral bands--(see the incredibly talented New Pornographers). Love the latest record from Calexico. They remind me a lot of another Southwest band "Cock Robin" (worth checking out if you like Calexico).

u got to watch them live at least once ....they are on tour again in Europe this month : Spain , France , Germany , Italy , UK . In Brussels , it's always a bit more special .

Just bought the tickets for the concert in Leuven next April. And now 1,5 month joy with a lot of "voorpret". It is a pitty they won't perform more in my neighborhood. But they are worth to travel and besides: Its the best excuse to travel to Belgium once more. @ Jean-michel Cornil: Thanks for the tip, else I missed it again, last year in Groningen en Utrecht (NL) they were fully sold out and I fished behind the net.

they have come a few days ago in Portugal ( Porto )on the 12th October . They are starting their French dates with Montpellier on the 17th & i will attend their 20th October one in Le Havre , in Normandy .

I love how Jacob Valenzuela takes the reins on "Esperanza" and carries the song entirely, with the whole ensemble playing humble backup. Wonderful to see how Jacob has grown as a singer over the years, and has been encouraged to contribute by this amazing collective that is Calexico!
