Can any body tell me how to calculate theta for the resultant force of a object monted on top of one side of a vertical beam if i know the weight and dimensions of the object. I actually want to know the distance the tip of the beam will move when the beam is 2.6 mtrs tall and the highest fixing is 1.2 mtrs from the ground.

I've seen 100s of videos about this, but it's still not clicking. I've seen people use the perpendicular lever arm against the force then solving it for torque. I've also seen people use perpendicular force on the lever arm then solving for torque. Then when it's my turn to do it, my answers still end up incorrect. Why? What's the trick here. What am i missing
