well I did a recent Powerboat level 2 course which covered very basic navigation but I want to eventually build up my qualifications starting with a navigation course and then my Day Skipper. So while I scrape together some shekels I'm trying to get ahead a little on navigation so as not to be out of my depth on the course. I have a good grasp of how to plot a course so far as bearings and course to steer etc allowing for magnetic variation and tide etc but I just find the intricacies of tide calculations a bit of a skull strainer. Cheers Guy

Seems new channel but very fluent lecture. Wish to get secondary port calculation next. This video was short without any seasonal change.

Thanks for your suggestion. We're working on a secondary port video at the moment - thanks!

How about a video explaining how to calculate bridge clearance at a secondary port as a follow up to this one?

I know you're mentioning everything but it's in a rather glibly skipping over manner and you've already done stuff I need to see done. Can you please do a step by step explanation with no- "I've already calculated the speed of the rising moon and you'll need the height of the meanest water to sbubtract from Greenwich bewitching hour which you''l find under any glass on a sunday, so just add that to the hypotenuse of your bow sprit when the tide is ebbing unless it's a flat calm sea in which case you can just sound off johnny depth" That's pretty much what it sounds like to a beginner with poor maths. I'm exaggerating of course but you're obviously so adept at it you can't understand what landlubbers like me don't understand. Perhaps you can direct me to a video which starts from finding the right port on a chart, spotting the hazards, reading chart info etc looking up in the Alan-mac and so on one thing at a time. Many thanks Guy ;-)

Hi Guy. I try to keep the videos specific to topic and short so that they don't drag on forever covering the same basics in every video. I will take a look at the video and see what has been assumed and then do videos to cover those in 'how to' videos. As the video library increases, I will add bookmarks and suggested videos that are relevant during the video or on the end screen. Cheers.

@@garviere No worries. Glad it's helping. Have you had any formal training? If not, getting to grips with this stuff off a couple of videos is tough. I'll take a look at this asap.
