I already know. Cala is first. We'll get a player who can play LW and RW, interchanging with Saka or Martinelli depending on the game management. Striker (hoping for Gyokores but know it will be a young player like Adeyemi or Tel) and a rotation option for Rice. If there's no good DM options to rotate atm, put Timber as Rice's rotation and bring in a left 8. Kimmich for me would be perfect. He's experienced, a leader and can play RB if anything happens to White/Tomiyasu and we always have Ethan to come in for games.

Im suprised so many people are saying Left back is not a priority. For me it was our main weakness especially with the injuries. Teams couldnt get down White and Salibas side so they would attack zinny/kiwior and get joy time and time again. Those cross diagonals did us so many times. Calafiori fixes that major issue at Left back and provides cover if needed at cb.

Everyone is fixated with the names on the shirts rather than the profile player for a position. If the players technical and physical abilities fit a position often times it works. They have to build partnerships on their sides of the pitch. Why are we so obsessed with big money signings?

His injury record is a worry. Happy to accept Arteta knows what he wants but its not just very serious knee injury at 16 he has had multiple muscle injuries.

If Declan rice had the pass jordan wants him to have he is literally the best DM of all time

These lot don't understand how important Raya's cross claiming ability is. We are solid defensively through the middle so teams always go on the outside and cross the ball. Having a keeper that cna just catch everything is a huge advantage.

Nothing wrong with strengthening the back line we where lucky we didn't lose saliba or Gabriel to injury

You e got White, Timber, Kwior, and Tomiyasu that can fill in. Getting another CB now is strengthing a weakness that doesn't exist - a LB, CM, RW and ST are higher priority.

Why is our fanbases first thought is "who will he replace?" Its a squad game. Let's have quality everywhere. Same with when we want another winger, it's called "A back up for Saka" NO, the player should challenge Saka. Otherwise, what's the point of bringing in players. If you want a backup, just use Academy players. Rant over. 😂

I think he is good can get better but got way overestimated by many. He didn't actually turn up in biggest games and teams with him at 6 have problems attacking down the middle. As a box to box his energy and combative spirit can be great but technically well off world class. Happy he is with it but he is not there yet footballing and mentality wise.

If you listen to Artetas quote where he says even at our worst we have to be better than our opponent at their best, it makes sense when he is so set on making sure he has an air tight defense. If you CANNOT concede then you always have a chance of winning a game, but worst case, drawing. Fulham Villa, West Ham 3 games we would’ve liked to win but if we at least got draws in all 3 we were champions. Now he just needs to get a killer up top to ensure that we make the most of any sniff on goal we get

I don't know what it is but I'm hyped about Calafiori. Italian defenders rarely ever leave Italy and he is highly adored by Italian fans. I grew up adoring that Ancelotti Milan team and the epic long hair with the headband look Calafiori has reminds me of Nest and Maldini. I'm super hyped.

I know Jordan is known for having some proper wild off opinions on football. I think he's take on Rice might be up there with the Havertz Kaka comparison. Rice in Emgland last games was 1 of their best performers. Whether you're a stat man or your more the eye test I don't understand how you can say Rice was average, etc. I think by now it's clear that the problem is Southgate if it was just a foden or trent that were playing bad & the rest of the team was balling out then you can put the blame on said players. When you've got Bellingham Foden trent walker Kane all playing bellow par to bad it's got to he the managers that's to blame. You can't have that many players of that quality all playing bad. I am glad the Rice discussion came up. It does my head all the chat about Rice, I agree with Turkish, Pep has had some negative effects on the game. Makelele is rightfully hailed as a goat DM, Keane, etc none are great "on the ball", their job is to break up play, intercept and then move the ball to other players, which Rice does to a T. Don't know how it's the job of a DM, to protect the defense, break play, intercept, switch play, create chances, play true balls, it's laughable.

Sir Alex Ferguson always said you need to strengthen your team when you are strong , we had a problem at left back, so do it. We also need to address centre midfield, we need a striker and a rotation option for right wing.

In the event that the pursuit for Calafiori is successful, my hope would be for the next stage of the team evolution to be a move to a dedicated back 3 defence and 4 man midfield, instead of achieving the exact same affect via inverting from one of the full back positions in order to gain the numerical advantage in midfield in an auxiliary fashion. Football formations, systems and styles are one thing, but the fundamental issue to them all is having the right personnel to fit in the first place. Regardless of the speculation that the Italian must be being brought in to play left back and be first choice option as cover for Magalhaes which might well be the case (I think that was the plan when we went for Martinez last year), it would be dismissive of Arteta's innate ability to think outside the box and be innovative, and for him not to have taken note that Calafiori shares traits with Saliba in having comfortably played both center back and full back, whilst having similar physical attributes, speed, aggression and intelligence on the ball. That then being the case, neither would be uncomfortable located in the half space in-between those 2 traditional positions whilst accommodating Magalhaes in the middle. As an analogy, the equivalent of a rottweiler flanked by by doberman pinchers.

Jordan, Everytime you look at Rice throught the prism of Rodri/Partey, he's going to look less of a player. Same as if you tried to look at the other two through his stregths. Rice's strengths (ball carrying, great recovery) are the strengths of an 8 (Vieira/Yaya Toure), Not a 6 (Gilberto/Rodri/Partey). The lack of "that pass" is what takes him away from being a 6, which is why we need to sign one, but as usual, you'll just go and spout the same observation at your very next attempt to comment on Rice.

Tierney and Tivarez could pay for Calafori. Save money on wages also.

Competition for both CBs and someone who can play LBs. This is an upgrade on a lot of our defenders. Now on to a 6 and a striker.

Bring Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier to Arsenal. Very good reflexes, saving penalties and interceptions. This type of player is like S. Ortega, Kelleher. Chevalier is good as a cover for David Raya if A. Ramsdale leaves Arsenal.

I think the out going are the most important part of this part of the season, getting rid of dead wood like Nelson, Nketiah, Lokonga, Tavares and players who just aren’t at our level now like Smith Rowe, Ramsdale and Tierney because if we sell those 7 we need to make minimum 110-115 million. Then we also free up a space or 2 in the squad for a few youth players to come through and either make there way into the team or bring up there value to sell them and get the pure profit from them.

We were never very threatening attacking wise with Rice as the 6. Football has moved on. Back in the day CBs hoofed it into the stand.
