The song is about going to your own funeral. You're being buried. Not that bad to work on Saturday is it? I gotta build a patio but it's better than building a foundation.

I loved this album as a kid because it had a big pig on the cover and it made me laugh. It still does today, but the music is also excellent :)

I have only seen Cake twice. First time was in 2004 at a festival (long after they made it big). Last year I moved to Sacramento, and I found out that Cake is from Sac Town. I was amp’d because they will probably play here when if/when they start another tour. 🤞

My senior year of high school we were always quoting verse of this song! And my fave game series Gex, in the third game Deep Cover Gecko, they even reference this song with a wall which had SHEEP with an arrow pointing up over a line with GOAT with an arrow pointing down under it!

Pretty Sure it references the bible; as does this song. The lyrics are based on a passage in the New Testament of The Bible: Gospel of Matthew chapter 25. In this passage, a shepherd divides his sheep and goats, with the sheep going to heaven and the goats to hell. Because goats have cloven feet, they were considered unclean.

@@garrettgodfrey4679 It was from a parable that Jesus told in the Gospels using sheep as a metaphor for Christians, and goats representing the lost. In the Old Testament, both animals were used for various sacrifices, but sheep were specifically used for temporarily covering one's sins. Jesus was the "Lamb of God," the final sacrifice that would permanently cover the sins of those who repented and accepted the payment on their behalf. Not that I think Cake were necessarily Christian believers. From the lyrics of some of their songs, they seem more like religious sceptics.
