Best interview I've seen yet. Nothing like your run-of-the-mill, blanket questions from people who seem like they don't even watch the show (and definitely don't read the books). THANK YOU for addressing the sex and intimacy with an emphasis on the *intimacy*. I imagine Caitriona and Sam appreciate it when people understand that the point of the sex is not "steamy" gratuity; it's to show a particular part of Claire's and Jamie's journey and how they grow with one another. Well done.

What I love so much about the sex scenes between Jamie and Claire is the intimacy. It's like you are witnessing private moments in their relationship and you can feel their connection with each other, which makes the acting feel all the more real. Sam and Caitriona captured Jamie and Claire perfectly, according to the books!

Similar comments here as those I gave you on the Sam interview. Outstanding interview. I really respect your composure and questions. You could have gone the route of asking a bunch of easy or even provoking questions, but you managed to ask questions that not only only were revealing , but did so in a respectful way. Cait seems to relax in your presence. As a result you got a real down to earth interview. As a former TV new reporter, I admire your work!

Jamie's parents eloped for love (uncommon in that day), and his mother was a strong willful woman like Claire and like his sister. I think those women in his life have made sure that Jamie didn't get away with macho bullshit even as a lad, but was given a glimpse of what women's life was like and taught to love and respect women, and to listen to them, and his father expected that of him, too. I think that is where the emotional intelligence he had came from, that allowed him to accept Claire for all that she doesn't fit in to that century.

You are absolutely right and your describing it so well does explain Jamie's acceptance of Claire and how different she is to most of the women around him who are subservient and submissive, his mother and Jenny were definitely the exception to that rule, making Jamie a relatively forward thinking man.

I agree with tou 100%. I just want to add to this. Claire being a strong & powerful woman, she held what was dear to him once he raised his hand at her (the spanking). She didn't give him any love/sex. So that made him to think DEEP. Deep into his roots. What really matters to him & how his happiness with her is. She knew her power over him & what he enjoys with her. I might be wrong!

This has been one of, if not my favorite interview with Caitriona Balfe about Outlander. I obviously don't know her, but I get the impression she's not all that comfortable with fame etc, your questioning was about her craft and I think it felt really relaxed and professional. You're clearly a fan of the show, but you avoided the stupid cliched questions that I'm sure these stars are sick and tired of answering. Also... I like you because you remind me of Tina Fey as Liz Lemon, so it was like a real meta moment for me; Liz Lemon interviews Caitriona Balfe!

OK, I am really surprised that she did not say feminine hygiene products like tampons or even a Diva Cup or equivalent. I love the idea of time travel and time travel stories, but when the women are the ones going back in time, their monthly needs are never mentioned. I think that would be the hardest thing to go without. Technically, women have dealt with that since the beginning of time. There is very little in history, though, about how women took care of themselves during that one week per month. As a woman in 2016, I would feel that loss most acutely.

If it's true that half the marriages end up in divorce, then half the planet have never seen what true love looks like. They, like Randall, are either shut down completely or know very little about real love. Randall does his best to try to express what he believes love is, which comes out in a psychically sick, distorted way. I appreciate all involved who explore the depths of this blissful, healing and powerful energy called love, which can be ignited between dimensions.

They've discussed in other interviews that they use "modesty patches" for the women (to cover the vulva) and "modesty pouches" for the men. In some scenes, they can also opt to use flesh-toned underwear if their lower regions won't be showing too much. Also, a film set is a very public place, and it would be odd (not to mention unprofessional) if either party were to try to actually have sex. Their focus would be on getting the right shots and following the director's instructions, not on enjoying themselves.

It is actually not a very comfortable situation. There are at least 10 other people present, there is no sexy music playing, there is a lot more light than we see, the director is giving you orders on where to touch, where to look, how to hold yourself so that you don't block the camera view or hit your head on the microphone, you get interrupted constantly so that your makeup, hair or limbs don't look wrong... It is so far from the finished product.

Really my only complaint is that the sex stuff is too much. It's just too much the focus

The story is a romance, can't really get past that. I personally think it's balanced well enough with the gritty scenes.

If there wasn't "too much sex" the graphic scenes would be overwhelmingly heart wrenching, not that they aren't now, it would be so hard.

I actually love the sex. It feels real. It shows passionate sex, making love, intimacy, rape, and rough sex. Not that I liked the scenes of rape but it definitely showcases a variety of sexual encounters. Lol. It doesn't get boring to me.
