Didn't realize at the time but after their tender bed conversation, Cait and Vi actually spent the whole day together before going to see the council. (It was morning when they snuck into Cait's house and evening when they had the meeting) I wonder what happened in that time? Whatever it was, it prompted Caitlyn to ask "what about us?".

Another thing to note about the "rain breakup" scene is that, initially, Vi is able to look Caitlyn in the eyes while she explains why she is leaving. Once Caitlyn says "What about us?", Vi glances in her direction but not directly at her. And once Caitlyn says "You're just saying that.", Vi doesn't even turn around when talking. Because she knows that if she looks Caitlyn in the eye again, she won't be able to walk away.

I also wanted to include some detail about how she can even be fun and (jokingly) flirty with Jayce because of the love and connection she has with Caitlyn, but didn't really know how to word it 😅

@@katiecooke5438 In this relationship it matters what she told Jayce first : He was the one who Caitlyn trusted, whom she wanted to give the hextech back. She trusted himmore than her own mother, who is a council member too and Vi realizes that. Here is especially interesting that Caitlyn asks Jayce who he is when he wants to declare War on the Undercity but Vi just wants to be in. I think not that Vi is flirting with Jayce, she has other (sexual) preferences. It shows only her sometimes strange sense of humor as in standing at the Firelights behind the corner of the door, listen to Caitlyns begging for her and after it celebrates an inner party over it and calls Caitlyn in an totally exagerrated way " My hero" - my favorite scene in the show, I laughed my ass off about it

In the scene where Ekko and Cait are about to fight, it is very interesting how Vi pushes Ekko away and puts a hand behind Cait. It's as if she said through body language "don't touch her", a way to show how she protects Cait even without saying anything.

You know another thing people don't mention a lot? Cait's eyes in the bedroom scene. They are so intense as they are watching Vi. She is taking in every word and it's like she is trying to peer into Vi's mind and understand every part of her.

One thing I noticed while rewatching the show is Cait face during this small fashback when Vi thought Jinx killed her is different than in actual scene on the bed in Caitlyn's home. Her eyes are bigger and mouth is open, she looks cutier and more innocent showing how Vi sees her. Its a small detail but I love it.

I was soooo distracted by Caitlyn's dump truck of an ass that I missed a lot of little moments here and there between them so I am just eating up all of these analyses. I can never get enough so thank you for posting this video! Also, Vi being someone who has received little to no love in the past few years and Caitlyn being someone who has a lot of love to give is just *chef's kiss*

One scene that basically nobody talks about in any detail is the part on the bridge right before Ekko makes his entrance and Jinx turns her gun on Cait and Vi. Its hard to spot in real-time but you can see Caitlyn attempt to throw herself in front of Vi while at the same time, Vi pushes her away in her attempt to protect Cait. Which is probably foreshadowing the rain scene where she also pushes Cait away to protect her

YES to the knee pats it was adorable! But the bridge scene had a lot of small details that told a lot about our two love birds. Caitlyn was holding back the tears whenever Vi had to leave her and Ekko. And moments before the large flood lights lit up, tears were forming again in Cait’s eyes. Rewind back to Vi touching Cait’s face, it foreshadowed the bed room scene of her touching Vi’s face too. Damn the details of this show is brilliant!

Caitlyn kind of puffs up her cheeks when she goes in for a deeper hug - trying so hard to hold back her tears 🥺 she makes my heart melt

I love the moment when Vi decides to follow Cait's plan while they are trying to scape Silco and his gang. It pretty much sums up their dynamic as partners as well as their intimate relatioship with one another. Caitlyn is the one who plans everything and traces the strategy, the one who comes up with an intelligent plan and has the iniciative to start it; Vi is the one that comes up with the final blow that leads to the sucess of the mission - she's the clataclism. There's an old animated ad that shows a similar scene - Cait acts as the bridge that allows Vi to give the final blow and win the fight; that's how they support each other as a team. I loved you video and hope to see more of your channel soon. Lots of love from Brazil!

After watching so many videos on Vi and Caitlyn's relationship, I didn't think there was much room to add anything that hadn't already been said, but I'm glad you proved me wrong! _Arcane_ as a whole is an absolute masterpiece, but the fact that Vi and Caitlyn are not only good-hearted, strong female characters but also unambiguously into one another is what makes this show truly special for me. I really hope the creators of the show continue to show courage and allow this relationship to grow and fulfill all the promises that were made to us in season 1.

We're in much the same boat, Katie. I don't have anyone in realspace to talk to about Arcane either. It's only through amazing videos like yours that I get any sense of community with a shared love of this masterpiece. Thank you! (And for the record, my favorite pairing in the show is Vi and Caitlyn; I am Team Vi all the way, and I love that she has someone she can connect with as an equal.)

Great video!! Another severely underrated scene/s is at the Tea Party in ep9, Vi (very clearly) was panting and shaking very hard when she thought Caitlyn's head would be on the silver platter and when Jinx shoved Caitlyn to the table Vi tells Jinx to leave Cait out of it (multiple times throughout the scene). When Jinx gives Vi the gun, telling her to 'make her go away', Vi's eyebrows are upturned (which we don't usually see) and she looks at Caitlyn and says she can't do it in a shaky voice. When Jinx took the gun and pointed it to Caitlyn immediately after, she panicked and tried the last resort of leaving Caitlyn behind and running away with Jinx to protect her, knowing Jinx won't shoot when that offer was made. She is very protective of Caitlyn the whole scene, and Cait also can't bring herself to shoot Jinx when Vi says "no, no, no, she's my sister". This is all after their whole 'Oil & Water' scene so it goes to show Vi didn't mean what she said. Also with the last scene being Vi and Caitlyn holding each other, I'm sure we'll get way more Violyn content in S2. Sorry this is so long, I loved all the points you talked about!!!

It was grate observation the one where Vi for the first time trust Cate and follows her plan, but i kept on thinking one thing… it was her home. She destroyed her home to escape and I think it’s really strong thing to do such a thing. And also the last drop was in hands of Silco and she saw that, so basically all the homes she’s ever had are gone now.

Great video! I love your voice and the quality of the content is amazing. Great analysis too. Little things I noticed about them: Cait always lets Vi lead the situations they run into, just to show how much more trustful she is (stable attachment, like you mentioned). The reason Vi trusts her in the end is because Cait offered her trust first. The only time we see Cait take control into her own hands is the last scene, when she aims at Jinx, and she still listens to Vi when Vi begs her not to shoot her sister. I think the scene that really made it clear to me is when Vi and Jinx reunite. All Cait knows is that Jinx is a dangerous criminal, but she stands back, letting Vi talk to her sister without intervening too much. She follows Vi's way to the undercity, plays along when Vi puts her on the spot. All of these things are new experiences to her, but she approaches the challenges cautiously and takes them on. Showing us she's willing to step out of her bubble, even if it's hard and unfamiliar. In all of their scenes together, Vi is the talker and Caitlyn, the listener. It sounds absurd, giving how Vi is, but Caitlyn didn't share a single bit of information about her life that we know of, aside from having "a friend in the council". She actively tries to hide the fact that she comes from extreme wealth (someone on twitter noticed she hides her family crest that's printed on her handkerchief, and she never mentions her mom is a council member to Ekko) because up until that point, people only see her as a Kirraman, not as her own person. And after Vi finds out of Cait's heritage, it does affect the way she sees her ("go back to that big, shiny house of yours"). On a lighter, related note, Vi is the first person to acknowledge Caitlyn's detective work and talent. She's genuinely impressed by it ("you did all of this yourself? Without even going down there?"). She is the first person to truly SEE Caitlyn as she is, not as a part of a line of heritage and privilege, and that's all Caitlyn wants. Last one, you kinda mentioned it in the video, but it seems like the reason Vi breaks up with Cait is because she wants to protect her. Vi knows she's going on somewhat of a suicide mission, taking all of Silco's factories, and just like she did with Powder in episode 3, she leaves Caitlyn behind. Vi is used to protecting those she cares about, and Cait managed to reach Powder levels of preciousness in Vi's eyes. She's not willing to take chances with her and lose her. Ironically, thats the same approach that Cait's parents have regarding her and she hates it. Also interesting that Cait immediately saw Vi leaving as more of Vi's way of handling situations (she saw through her empty words) yet Powder thought she herself was the problem. The sisters are both so fragile and mentally fucked 😢

Dude I love all of this SO MUCH. All that talk about trust in the beginning simply got me thinking that Cait's crazy amount of trust in Vi began the moment she released her. And I love that about the recognition of Caitlyns's humanity - I think it's a reason why I found myself resonating so much with her and why she's my favorite character :) something about that steadfast integrity that only few people notice

Excellent analysis, Hagar! I totally agree that trust is one of the key issues that evolve Vi and Caitlyn's feelings for each other. And yet Caitlyn doesn't entrust Vi with her heritage, correctly guessing that it would be an insurmountable barrier at least at first. But inviting her into her bedroom definitely changes that! I also agree that Vi protects Caitlyn when she breaks it off in the rain, but I also think it's Vi lacking the courage to open herself further to Caitlyn, now that she knows exactly what Caitlyn comes from. Like on the bridge in the previous episode, she protects herself and Caitlyn by pushing her away.

You are right in the most things, but Caitlyn takes control in adressing the council when she introduces Vi, telling the members that they failed her and the Undercity in countless ways. Also adressing her mother, telling her Vi is not a stray, showing her that she is more than someone from down there. Great was the scene when Jayce asks who was responsible for the bombs at the bridge and stole the hextech. It was first time Cait was not telling the truth (after the prison scene where she took Vi out of stillwater prison) to a superior to protect Powder because she is Vis sister...and I liked the way Vi reacted to this with empathy, grabbing Caitlyns, declares the name is Jinx and not revealling that these Jinx is her sister. She realises that it is important for Caitlyn telling the truth about what had happened and helped her to save her face in front of the council, her friend Jayce and her mom

Good vid, and nice breakdowns :) Especially with Vi clueing into Cait's plan in the underground. Never caught on to that specific detail.

I really loved that moment, it’s something I took note of from my first watch, but I hadn’t really realized that no one was really talking about it in all the Vi/Cait specific videos I’ve watched.

Also, aside from partners, parents (most of them, at least) are often the comfort you seek when in very stressful (or in this case, deadly) situations, either physically like hugging or mentally like memories of them taking care of you when you were sick or injured. Her envisioning that seems to show that she was close (or already) to seeing Cait as someone to whom she be comfortable with, especially when seriously injured as she was.

To me, the ‘cupcake’ scene is all about Vi objectifying Caitlyn to show dominance. I think she is attracted to Caitlyn but her motives are about separating from her rather than flirting to establish a connection. I also love how you pointed out that the confrontation with Silko is the first time that Vi works together WITH Caitlyn. You are right that’s a big moment for someone like Vi. Well done! And, yeah, I don’t have anyone to talk about Arcane with either, obviously. Thx.

8:40 The knee pat scene is easy to miss cause it both suggest the two as trust pats. To Vi to pat Caitlyn means she meant every word to assure herself she's not leaving. The pat scene is important cause it's the most gentle she can. In act 1 when vi lashed out. She looks at her hands with blood looking at how she is not in control when she's totally emotional unstable but in this scene even when she's anxious she manages to keep calm and assured Caitlyn she'll try to see if she can get powder at least. To Caitlyn perspective when Vi pat her knee it means Vi made sure to place her the safest possible and is trying to go at ekko and Jinx. Cait fully knows what Jinx meant for Vi but the knee pat is assurance of "hey I'm gonna look to check for my sister I'll be back I'll guarantee you" it means she's definitely going back to get back at Caitlyn if the situation is not on Vi's favor. And the scene where Vi instead go get Caitlyn to the other bridge is enough for Caitlyn to trust Vi for it.srsly putting you first before her sister is already heart melting for Caitlyn especially she almost died and got injured by Jinx

Wow I love this!! Also, Vi can be calm about it BECAUSE she knows that Caitlyn will be calm about it too. They can be calm bc there's trust and Caitlyn wouldn't beg her to not leave like Powder did in the third ep. At this point, they've established that kind of bond and I guess that's what makes the scene so sweet despite the context

@@katiecooke5438 throughout arcane it is well established that soft touches gives comfort and Vi being deprived from hungry and comfort to be able to give that soft gesture means she comes long way from having to stop people showing concern after all she was the defacto Big sister and being able to at rely on Caitlyn and the trust they both have is enough to know for certain where getting there just few speedbumps, jinx rocket yeah I'm very excited to S2 cause we can get to see the pair at there most vulnerable state, I'm sure Vi has stacked up the guilt from it already we will get to see a constant shift of dynamic specially how Cait can holdfast and how can Vi steel herself not to blame herself nor break.

Nice observations! I liked especially the puppy eyes thing (ooh, I need to check this and see it with my own eyes) and the first one, haven't realized the connection and you're absolutely right about the meaningful pause that Vi does when thanking Caitlyn on the bridge ("... for everything"). And I'm glad I'm not alone in my belief about the moment the penny dropped and all the walls fell and Vi fell heavily for Caitlyn 😄 I mean... Just look at her face and consider the camera, they're showing it to us that close for a purpose 🙂 In Arcane, these choices are not random, they're fully intentional, that's what makes the show so good. All pieces cooperating and serving the artistic intention. You should certainly do some more videoessays. You've got such a nice voice 😊 Thanks!

About destroying the sign: I think it is symbolic. They want to dostroy Silco but not directly fighting with him but by hitting the foundations of his organisation. The eye sign stands there for his dominance over her world (it is build over her old home).

I didn't catch the thank you parallel before. That scene hit hard before and now it just slammed me into the ground. The merged plan I also didn't consider. I too was a big fan of that knee pat and watched it over 20 times now lol.

Two little details my brain picked up: The scene where Caitlyn returns to Vi with the Shimmer elixir, Caitlyn kneels down and the lights behind her form a rough halo (only briefly) like she is Vi's guardian angel. Beautiful. In the brothel, Vi stops Tim (?) in the hallway, and acts seductively to introduce Matilda (Caitlyn) to Tim. I don't think there is a more gorgeous image of Vi in the whole show, as she is trying to entice Tim to talk to Caitlyn. Good review

His name was Pim...and after all he asked for Vis name and she called herself Matilda and told him to call Caitlyn whatever he wants...then Caitlyn jumped in and used Matilda as her fake name..and what followed was a terrible way of "flirting" with him. I am not sure thats because he is a man or Cait was overwhelmed with the situation and what might follow this

I will go even further by saying that not only Vi acts (or rather speaks) seductively to introduce Caitlyn to Pim like you said but if you take a look at Vi body's language (and her body language is much more important than her words) you can see it didn't match her words at all ! She grabs Pim in a strong, rough way to force him to stay (you can see the animators highlight this) while doing the best she can to talk in that sweet tone

@@sabri3917 Vi was in a rush to talk to the Madam in private and to get poor Cait to be pre-occupied, and yes 100% what Vi was saying didnt match her body language at all- In addition all of the facial animations of Vi literally making Pim look at Cait instead of her were freaking god tier- her eyes catching Pims and leading the look to Cait plus the head tilting.. so good

I wandered here after falling down this lovely rabbit hole…again again again again again again. And oh boy did you deliver (and you did wonderful job I wouldn’t have guessed it was your first video of this type). What I learned from this video: 1.) Caitlyn DID CHANGE Vi (in a small way), but what is change but a series of small steps, right? 2.) BOTH OF THESE MF SHOWED THEY BOTH GOT IT DOWN *BAD*. 3.) THEY ALSO TRUST EACH OTHER enough for Vi to think first and act second, working against her usual behavior . (I’m only half way through too) Edit: 4.) oh boy the soft eyes my heart can’t take it 5.) I'm glad you add this scene (4:44). Because its one of favorite scenes where Caitlyn has not only come to care for the Undercity and its people, she manages to convince Ekko to pursue peace instead. Plus, I agree with you on the fact that this is where Vi, not only starting to fall in love for Caitlyn, but has to come to see the humanity, humility and sincerity in her. Even though she's a topsider and enforcer. If you're planning to make more videos about Arcane, perhaps do the one about the father-daughter relationship between Silco and Jinx or make a theory videos about Ekko and Heimerdinger's role in season 2 (kzread.info/dash/bejne/nIqr3JZxgpnQmco.html ), possibility about Vander being Warwick, possibility of Vi and Caitlyn's relationship blossoming even further, possible appearances of League of Legends characters and who could possible survive the explosion Jinx set off with her chem-tech rocket.

Vi has spent most of her life either in the slums or in prison, being attacked or outright physically beaten. She's lost so many people, and she hates herself for how she failed her sister. And then Cait comes along, the symbol of everything Vi hates and mistrusts. Topsider, filthy stinking rich, enforcer. And yet Cait is willing to get down in the trenches and see the world Vi's lived in, and to realize how much Vi's been through. And amid all of Vi's pain and self-loathing and mistrust, Cait treats Vi with such kindness and empathy and tenderness. I just 💔

Oh my god, that's so true, jadegecko! Caitlyn is an altruistic and trusting person, but who made her empathetic to the plight of the undercity? Vi! Caitlyn let her out of prison to solve her own detective brain rot and find Silco (plus, I think her boring superficial life pushed her towards adventure), and instead she sees the horror of a life that Vi's led. She's in desperate need of healing. And Vi realises what Caitlyn can and will do for her in that moment. Aargh, my heart can't take it! ❤️❤️❤️😭

I wanna talk about the scene after the explosion on the bridge where vi tells Caitlyn that she'll be right back while patting her on the knee. It's a little thing but it's cute

Well said. I love this show. And yeah, I've seen it way too many times also. :) One very small bit that stood out to me was when Caitlyn meets Ekko and realizes Vi is okay. Ekko says, "Vi tells me I can trust you." And Caitlyn looks utterly astonished to hear this. She and Vi were clearly beginning to trust each other, but this is when Caitlyn truly understood that.

Thank you for the great video! I have been thinking about the part of the brothel scene that gets over looked. Vi calls Caitlyn out for her expectation that people will give her what she wants based upon her privilege. In the next scene that they are together, the end of the fight with Sevika, Caitlyn rescues Vi. Vi may have never had a peer do that for her before. I think it is at that point, and for that reason, their relationship starts to deepen. Vi, and much of the Undercity, sees life as transactional. When Caitlyn ‘saves’ Vi, she is performing a deed that Vi understands and values. Vi starts to open up from this point. Caitlyn learns a valuable lesson in the brothel that she has been using her privilege, as much as she hates to admit it, and she changes her behavior. Caitlyn values the lesson that Vi has taught her.

Ooh I love this - it reminds me of a lyric in Playground (the undercity intro song) "everyone's gotta price round here" such a good observation

Great video ! Thank you for pointing out those details especially such as puppy eyes, pause between "thank you" and "for everything" (which shows how deeply she means it), Vi following someone else's plan (remember that Vi refused to obey Vander and decided to fight instead of leaving? she wants to fight first hand and with Cait it's the first time she decided to not fight with only her punches but also with her brain and with someone else). And that's surely thanks to Cait that Vi decided to not fight alone anymore, like when she went to Jayce and not only accepting but offering her help and to fight together. Cait changed Vi for the better, Vi is accepting to not be alone anymore. And even if she was somehow betrayed by Jayce because when he killed the boy, he decided to stop fighting and even demanded Vi to give back the gauntlets (which could be felt as a betrayal for Vi), Vi still has full trust into Cait, which shows how deep and real is their connection. They KNOW they can trust each other, they KNOW they'll never betray each other. Cait definitely changed Vi from a barking and bitting wild beast, to a powerful beast with not only a good heart but a heart accepting to feel something else than anger and hate. And who's able to have puppy eyes yes lol

Do you think Jayce is betraying Vi? I think he realized that he indeed did not know what war is, like Mel told him. He did not think to all what could follow an attack on Silco, was not ready to kill a kid which was used as a protective shield for the shimmer factory and stopped his actions at this point, was not hard enough to go over it like Vi telling that every day children are dying because of Silcos actions. I think Vi does not feel betrayed by him, in her opinion he is just to weak, to much topsider, to do what is necessary to fight Silco. Also he was to weak to take the gauntlets back, so she left and attacked Sevika in the Last Drop ( btw a nice name for a bar )

@@thomasewald7905 I don't think that Jayce betrayed Vi but that Vi feels betrayed by Jayce, because she's used to see people die, so to her it's nothing. She's not from Piltover, she doesn't knows how it feels for him, so I agree that she surely sees him as too weak, and feels betrayed by him because he is too weak. But that's only how I see it

Hello Katie, I have a different view of why Caitlyn and Vi's relationship, though I appreciate the fact you noticed the moment that Vi began to love Caitlyn. Caitlyn has a strong sense of justice, which is what pulls her into the profession of law enforcement. She isn't interested in some ceremonial position, like what her parents impress her to do. She wants to make a difference and is willing to go to great lengths, including overcoming social pressure, to achieve justice. That principle is actually what draws both Vi and Caitlyn together. Vi also takes great risks to secure a better life for those that she loves. She is angry at Piltover; the injustices levied by them, such as her parents being killed during the war, infuriate her. She hates Piltover and is suspicious and hostile to any of its representatives, including Caitlyn who makes possible her release from prison. However, over time, Vi recognized something within Caitlyn that she possessed: a strong sense of justice. This was most prominently shown in the scene when Caitlyn admits to Echo that Piltover has wronged The Underground. Despite these facts, she still maintains that it will be the best chance for peace if Echo willingly gives up the crystal. Caitlyn appreciates how difficult it must be for Echo to trust her, though makes her case anyway. Choosing to focus on unpleasant and dis-confirming facts about the moral standing of Piltover and changing her mind is what ultimately allows Vi to begin to love Caitlyn. That's why Vi and Caitlyn's relationship works. They both intensely share the same values and struggle to understand the truth.

@@katiecooke5438 Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. Though, I am interested into why you think I have ignored their romantic attraction for one another? Granted, they both are sexually attracted to one another physically. However, Vi certainly has seen other beautiful women, though she doesn't fall in love with them. In order to be romantically interested in another person, you need to be physically attracted and spiritually in admiration. Caitlyn satisfied both in ways that Vi did not even expect. Are you suggesting that I overlooked their physical attraction? I think I had, though I didn't want to emphasize on that, as I took that as the given.

Thanks for the video, good analysis of small overlooked moments! Like you, I've seen many of these (yum!)... I also noticed the thank you, really shows Vi's development. And I also like the moment right after when Caitlyn is walking further along the bridge with Ekko. She makes a small move with her head as if to look back towards Vi with a sad expression on her face, it really shows how hard it is for her to leave her. Another favourite moment of mine is the shower scene, wonderful music and emotions in there! Especially the lip bite at the end where Caitlyn's eyes are definitely NOT soft (like Vi's). Here we see almost a darkness rising in Caitlyn, her desire almost getting the better of her. This is a woman who has never been denied anything in her life. What she hasn't been given, she has just gone for herself (like approaching Vi in the first place). But these feelings and whether or not she can be with Vi, is out of her control. LOOVE that moment, that look in her eyes!!

@@katiecooke5438 Thanks 😊 The show is as you say full of parallels (part of what makes the show awesome!), and where Vi becomes softer, more trusting and less violent by the relationship with Caitlyn, Caitlyn becomes less naive and more inclined to do harm to those that threaten a person she loves. We also see this in the not so soft eyes in episode 9 where Caitlyn has Jinx at gunpoint. Shooting Jinx would save Vi and herself, so she seriously considers pulling the trigger, something she never would have considered before falling in love with Vi. The reason she doesn't shoot is that very same love (God, that is so brilliantly written, the whole show is!)

I LOVE that you caught on to these little nuances that have genuinely not been talked about in all of the vi and cait content I have been consuming!

Thank you for this video, same boat, no one to talk to about Arcane. And lots of small moments that stand out that seem to be being missed or dismissed. Caitlyn and Vi are beautiful, in this terribly toxic world, their relationship is developing on very healthy grounds.

SO happy to find this! first off, can i just say your voice is really relaxing to listen to? also, i really love the way you approached this video - first talking about them and their own individual experiences, and how it shapes them, and then how their relationship progresses. i just finished arcane myself (i know that's very late, but i was in college, give me some slack!) and i also don't nearly have enough people to rave to about it. one thing i brought up somewhere in the comments of another arcane vid: in the scene where caitlyn is talking to ekko (AKA vi falling in love before our eyes), caitlyn's words to ekko are: "i couldn't blame you. but if you keep it, the cycle of violence will never stop." mirroring the advice vander gave her on the bridge, when she was ready to directly attack the topsiders. :'x aaah

LOVE IT, YES. I did not realize the specific moment where Vi shifts from being attracted but guarded to attracted and vulnerable, willing to estabish a connection and camaraderie. It felt really well developed and your analysis shows how. Thank you so much, such a treasure of a story, specifically Vi and Cait's relationship. Can't get enough!

Great analysis that adds new insights to some of their scenes. Maybe a good excuse to rewatch Arcane yet another time. 😊 Also, as this seems to be your first video: Very well written, narrated, and edited. Edit: I found it touching that Caitlyn would immediately offer up her gun, the only weapon she had for protection in the nether regions of the Undercity. It was also necessary from the writers' perspective, I think. They needed her to have it to save Vi, but she had to lose it afterwards, because otherwise the encounter between Vi, and Jinx, and a rifle-wielding Caitlyn would have escalated even more. 😅

wonderful commentary! I too have watched an embarrassing amount of Arcane related content…from reactions to reviews to animation breakdowns and detailed character analysis (including Georgia Dow!)…just to go deeper and stay as connected to this masterpiece for as long as possible. Your observations were spot on & pleasantly on point. Noticing Vi’s consequent “soft eyes” after the exact moment she fell for Caitlyn…good eye! Vi taking Cait’s hand as the tower fell. The significance of Caitlyn’s “You’re just saying that.” line. And the knee pats!!! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Truly delightful. 🙏🏼

great video ! I am trapped in the post series depression as well as I just crave this content so much ! I hope you continue to do videos about arcane ! I love it :) So if you didn't see this one I can recomment it (it was uploaded 6.2.22- pretty new to this date). This is a very amazing essay about Vi and Powder/Jinx. There, you get a lot of information about Vi and why she acted in some situations differently like going with Caitlyn instead of with Jinx- e.g. many critized her for walking away with injured Caitlyn on the bridge and not going with Jinx instead. Five by Five Takes explains the behaviours very nicely with psychological background of disorders and why calming down Jinx in ep6 when Cait "joins" the reunion and in ep7 after the explosion is not possible to reason with her anymore. A lot of people understand that Jinx needs love and acknowlegment but don't understand her state of mind and if there is a possibility to act "correctly" in that situation and get through to her-after all, she has voices in her head intensifying her fears and negative thoughts - though her state of mind she is very unstable and can flip anytime which is very dangerous as she is used to kill people [see her killing Silco in ep9 even if she didn't want it she still did it]. One must understand that traumatized people with disorders tend to react differntly from common knowlegde. Five by Five Takes does a good job in explaining this with real psychological reference. kzread.info/dash/bejne/l4R2zZpycaW1epc.html One addition to the rifle Caitlyn gave up for getting the potion: This is not just some general enforcer rifle but her own rifle from her flashback(ep5) and in the family picture. The rifle has the Kiraman logo engraved on it and it seems that this is a precious rifle to her she holds dear for years (she probably got it as a present from her parents). Meaning this is not only her protection but a precious part of her being/past she trrades in that moment. Giving this up easily for Vi's wellbeing is a great feat!

I rewatched Arcane again the other day (yes, mainly for these two) and one scene of theirs I really love (and think isn't talked about enough) is Vi's looks when Cait is talking with Ekko! I'm so glad to see it talked about in this video because, although they have so many other sweet moments, it is basically as you said - you can see Vi realising her feelings for Cait, despite all their differences. I'm glad there's someone as obsessed with them as I am 😅 (Also, omfg yess the knee pats are soo cute, it's such a simple gesture but makes me squeal every time I see them lol)

As a boxer you get drilled to always keep your guard up, keep it up, don't be slacking! For vi to both be a fighter and have gone through all of the hardships she has, that scene, from not being able to say "thank you" to actually let her guard down and be vulnerable with Caitlyn on the bride show how much they do influence each other, and it gets me every time! Thank you for comparing those scenes, this was an amazing video! 😁👌 Also yes, those knee taps, but also Vi walking away 😏

Hello, Katie! You made a very interesting video about Vi and Caitlin, which I've watched twice now. Like you and others who have replied to you, I don't have anyone to discuss Violyn with. My husband is a fan of Arcane. In fact, he persuaded me watch the series, because I didn't initially like it. (In res media isn't my favorite way to enter a story, although once I got into Arcane the time skips no longer bothered me.) Although my hubby likes the series almost as much as I do, he wasn't as interested in potential romantic relationships as I was. So, I appreciate your followers diving right in and discussing the complex relationship that Vi and Caitlin formed, which (for the time being) Vi walked away from. Oddly, because Powder/Jinx kidnaps Caitlin, she inadvertently gets them back together for her party. Caitlin spends a significant part of the party out cold after Jinx feigns surrendering to her and then knocks her out; but in the scene on the docks after Jinx has launched her missile, Caitlin and Vi are clinging to one another as the rocket-propelled bomb flies toward Piltover. If Caitlin's mother is killed when the bomb detonates, I've no idea how it will affect the women's relationship in the long run; but I would expect Caitlin to withdraw from Vi (and possibly everyone else) for a time. So many possibilities!

I love this video. It was very informative.

Yes without a doubt this is the best show I've seen...their relationship is captured so well and i know for a fact that arcane presents some of the best female characters written in any piece of media..plus cait has my heart she is oh so goood and your videos are really heartwarming and on point with the analysis just keep posting more arcane stuff please thanks

This is what I love about the show. It's a masterpiece, but also, because of that, it brings out and inspires the creativity of it's audience. You never would have made this video if it wasn't for Arcane. There are a few videos I never would've made if it wasn't for Arcane. Sorry, I'm kinda tired right now, so I'm going to write in Spanish. Hopefully, the translation is good enough. Or maybe you know Spanish ;) Respecto a la escena en la antigua casa de Vi, Dios, pensé lo mismo. Hace unas semanas escribí un fic que es básicamente una reescritura de las escenas de ellas en la serie (hay varios de este estilo), pero lo menciono porque, para hacerlo, tuve que ver cada una de sus escenas con mucho detalle. Es por ello que me percaté de que, efectivamente, es la primera vez que trabajan juntas y Vi confía en la idea de Cait y la ayuda a llevarla a cabo. Y es hermoso. Espero que en la segunda temporada nos muestren más situaciones en que trabajan juntas, como un verdadero equipo. Amo mucho su dinámica, pues Cait al fin tiene a alguien a su lado que cree en ella y admira sus habilidades, mientras que Vi al fin tiene a alguien a su lado que es una igual y no alguien a quien debe proteger sino que ambas se protegen una a la otra. Y la escena en que Vi le da las gracias "por todo" es de mis favoritas también. Esa sí la noté desde la primera vez que la vi, pues me hizo gracia cuando Cait le dijo "¿alguna vez das las gracias?" y Vi ni siquiera se digna a responderle, cambiando el tema. Es muy significativo que le esté dando las gracias a una Enforcer, alguien que debería (y lo hizo) detestar por principio. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it!

Oh I don't know if you clocked it but I think just before the moment when caitlyn has the intimate moment with vi, cait started with concern and checks vi's eyes and then falls in to the "moment". Don't know about you but that's how I interpreted that.
