2007 for me too!

Must feel pretty awesome. The man composed the song over 10 years ago and they never played it with Sonata. Then, when Jani finally has the oppoturnity to play his song, the crowd sings along in the very beginning, recognizing his work. I'm not a Jani fan boy but that was fucking beautiful.

Liiba, you dont know just how popular Sonata Arctica was here in Japan back then (personalyl I have no first hand knowledge of it, but from all the metalheads I know, between SA and stratovarius, SA seems to be the more popular of the two)

My missus is sure they played My Selene live when Jani was with them, I believe she saw them on their first UK gig and she believes they played it then.

Loved it when the whole crowd singed the into 🥺♥️

Sounds pretty decent in Kotipelto's voice. Jani looks happy to be playing it live, also. Good performance overall.

Great to finally hear this song live. Wish it was with Tony though. Tony's voice brings out the true beauty of the lyrics.

Man, Kotipelto makes everything even more awesome.

I want a Sonata Arctica reunion just to here this song live with Jani on guitar and Tony on vocals. Still this version rocked.

It's almost a year since I watched this video. Before that moment I didn't know that Jani had this band so that was pretty awesome to me. I loved his work with SA and Cain's Offering is amazing! I would like they release a third album soon!

If you want more from Jani I definitely recommend The Dark Element, a project with Anette Olzon on vocals.

Stratovarius with Jani, Jens and Timo what an awesome band lineup!

It's a good performance. Would love to see Tony actually perform this live too though.

Tony will never sing in high pitches anymore, he said :( That's unfortunate, I really loved Sonata in the old times. 9th hour was still alright for me, but the newest album is not really good. I'm still trying to get used to it.

@@dannylovell7876 Definitely. Saw them in NYC (2 months ago) & was sad to hear that most of their setlist was comprised of Talviyo & their later releases. Full Moon was literally the only song played from the Golden Age. You can tell Tony's voice is going though. The line in the chorus, " and.. heee's not a maaan anymooore", was almost a struggle for him to hit. He had to resort to strictly falsetto to be able to do it & even then it was meh. Time to accept they're getting older bud.

In 2014-2016, he was hitting ridiculously high notes in full voice, like this E5 kzread.info/dash/bejne/mJiAp7VtqMLOZKQ.html, but he burned his voice in 2017 Ninth Hour tour, and didn't rest enough. So during 2018-19, he lost his voice almost completely. So much so that songs during the 2019 acoustic tour were played in much lower keys and Kakko's voice still strained alot. Thankfully he has had time to rest now, and sounded better this year. Still could hear that he had damaged his voice, and it'll likely never sound the same as before. But the tour in Finland was fantastic and although they played some songs in dropped keys, they played many older songs, 9 songs from the first 4 albums. This christmas he had also some christmas gigs, and sounded very good and clean kzread.info/dash/bejne/g2Gd3NSfnZrYZ8o.html

He was inactive for a long time so Ibanez probably stopped endorsing him, then when eh finally got really back into making music, ESP approached him and offered him a cool guitar in the SV :) I own the exact same model, it's awesome.

Angel Ozuna Jani se fue de Sonata porque estuvo preso, en finlandia el servicio militar es obligatorio y jani no fue por lo tanto tuvo que cumplir una pequeña condena. En ese momento sonata estaba lanzando unia y decidieron reemplazar a jani ya que tenian un tour mundial y no podian esperarlo. Stratovarius sigue siendo una banda, en 2015 salio su ultimo disco y se espera que este año salga otro. Lo explique a las apuradas, cualquier cosa preguntame o googlea

It's really fucked up that tony never allowed this song to be performed live with sonata just because jani wrote it. So damn disrespectful.

i have always thot this song was tony who written and composed but actually it was jani. n this is 1 of my most favorite. well with me tony and jani is like a very couple (my opinion n imagination only) that will rule the metal world. but jani lost the role controlling tony's mind and made he went too far (as the ppl say). but jani, u rock the entire metal band u join

Such hype in the beginning. It starts out okay but I'm sorry, this isn't a good performance. I wish it was just the keyboard solo missing but: 1. They mess up the lyrics multiple times. 2. Imagine having this long a rest for your voice and still not doing the line justice 5:25 3. out of tuuuuuune 3:56 - 4:10 ; 4:32 ; 4:45 ; 5:45 ; 5:54 ; 6:00 ; 6:08 4. 4:01 At this point it's just Jani lol I feel like if he isn't there to guide the song back in the right direction it quickly turns into a shitshow hahaha

Yeah Timo is frustrating. He sounds great on the albums but he is all over the place pitch-wise when performing live.

While Tony did write nearly everything, it is undeniable that Jani had a big influence when it came to how guitar driven the songs were. Now its a joke that they have a player as good Elias but he's buried in the mix only playing power chords.

I had almost only SA to listen to. Last 10 years i have almost nothing new to listen, there is almost nothing i would appriciate as much :'( Where can i found such good compilation of high voice range with interesting voice color, energy, melody and so on nowadays... World has dropped to hell 10y ago for me :)
