Cafe Racer (Bmw R80 by Jerikan Motorcycles)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

(Legendado em Português) If you are a cafe racer enthusiast, you have to remember the TV commercial about Coco Chanel perfume.
This commercial was the inspiration point for the amazing project of the Bmw R80 Cafe Racer by the french Jeremy, owner of Jerikan Motorcycles.
Enjoy the video, and also the sexy Coco Mademoiselle, keira knightley.

    When I talk about Industrial Art, my Bachelor’s degree, the design, build quality and detail of this bike is exactly what I’m talking about. And Kiera Knightly, from Pirates of the Caribbean, takes this mere mortal’s breath away.

    What a perfect platform. The R80 motor was arguably the smoothest of the horizontally opposed twins and boasted an incredible power band. Coupled with what would have to be called an overdrive for 6th gear it was a remarkable machine. Modern suspension components round out a near perfect project. Nicely done. I've respected and followed this motor for decades.

But I agree that the twin headlights are a bit out of place, it does not look bad, just think it would be better with the single headlight that they also used during the commercial (maybe because they have the same opinion as me :P) The twin lights makes the faring look to wide.. Weird that they used different farings in the commercial and different seat

    RACER TV I was thinking of the essence of the word Elegant, if your eye rolls over its lines, like a beautiful woman, ie the E type Jaguar or Concorde, that is elegant. The BMW is Smart,robust, dignified, civilized sensible serious & respectable, even when stripped back, it will always be a police bike.

  • @RACER_TV

    @RACER_TV

    10 жыл бұрын

    Paul J Yes i understand your comment, and i agree. But even a hard and robust bmw bike, can be always transformed in something a little bit more elegant, but will never be elegant as a Jaguar E type for instance. Some times, even the change of color or stripes, can help the search of the elegance in a bike. Once again, thanks for your comment.

    At 3:05 -- RIP versatile, comfortable R80RT, a thoroughly sorted, sensible machine that could cross a continent two up without breaking a sweat. Excellent fairing, very comfortable seat for two people, vast touring range, integrated luggage. And what does this clown do with it? Build another ugly café racer with a hideous faring, stupid pipe wrap, and uncomfortable seat. Bravo. Of course we get stupid rider cliches to match -- at 2:40 overweight guy with flannel shirt, skinny jeans, and metal flake retro helmet with goggles worn as fashion items with Ray-bans. Honestly, these cafe racer guys are just so precious -- this whole fad has evolved into self-mockery. It's just a shame this fellow took a perfectly good touring bike and converted it into a latte-colored poseur-cycle.

    I really like your show. Well done. You are, for what ever reason, searching for a perfection that satisfies you. Like me, you have not yet found it, but are trying and trying hard. Know that our idea of beauty lies within our humanness, which includes our god-like proportion 1.618/1 in relation to most, but not all, around us that we find beautiful, and in some cases, stunningly beautiful. Is that what you are pursuing? This advert with Kiera, that you like so much. Of course the divine proportion was taken into account in the creation (and modification) of this particular bike (Guzzi got it right after all...). But did you come to think that the designers of this advert took it a step further? Look at the detail, the shape of her face vs. the camera angles, her haircut, the surrounding architecture, the color palette,.. in relation to the bike. Hollywood!. Still, there really is true beauty out there and I quite like the fact of motorcycle perfection as creating, quite literally, a face, a voice, a character... not just a machine. A perfect bike should in fact reflect its driver. Perfect, but imperfect. Aston Martin has indeed excelled at this. The DB5. If only Jag had offered up a car at the time, I wonder if there would have been a different man playing the lead role of James Bond, in order that he may match the car. So, Let us lake this a deeper level. Study this more. I would love to see the result... So I offer this idea to you. Ask yourself - What is most attractive to us by our own nature? The human face and the expression therein. yes?. It is the perfection and imperfection in symmetrical marks and flaws that make us unique. Matching that with our behaviour and attitudes completes it. Also, a bike looks and a bike performs - the two factors are unified. That is the real challenge in stunning designs. For example, what sound do we make? As with HD - the deep and reassuring tonality of voice.. Ugly but strong. Nothing pleases everyone mind. But when most say OMG, you have truly achieved something. So, let us pursue these things in a cafe racer. Many cars are said to have a face... an expression and personality if you will. Your comments on the E-Type were a perfect example... beauty lies in its perfection and a mole of imperfection. There are laws of beauty indeed. But in our humanness, we find the slight breaking of these laws hugely appealing. Do you agree? Such trivial things to be so fascinated by, but here we are, and there is indeed some degree of meaning in it. Best, Paul

    Your english words are so rich, that i had to read them several times to understand. I'm going to try to answer you with my poor english vocabulary. (I'm Portuguese) So, about beauty. Just like the great architect I M Pei, it is the location that tell us how the building should be. I like to think the same with bikes. Each bike is a different challenge, which means that each bike should had a diferent cafe racer solution, in order to obtain the top beauty that we want. A cafe racer project is finished, when the following quotation became totally true. Beauty is a summation of the parts working together in such a way, that nothing needed to be added, taken away or altered. by Elio Carletti When i made the video about the divine proportion, my intention was to achieve a technical method to help other cafe racer enthusiasts. I think is very important to have the right proportions in some parts of the bike. But the divine proportion can be applied in so many different ways, that does not guarantee the perfect beauty that we search. But i agree that imperfection can be also very appealing. That's what i bought one of the ugliest bikes in the world. Bmw K1. It can be beautiful and ugly at the same time, and i love it because of that. Thank you Paul for sharing your thoughts. Best regards, Vitor

    RACER TV Yeah! The way she played "Excitement" was not believeable! You know, the Rush of Joy, sitting on a Motorcycle. Maybe she should take a Ride with Orlando Bloom. Who is a Rider.
