I'm a USAF Security Police Cold War Veteran (8 Dec '81-10 Jul '96), and on the military driver's license issued to me by my first unit (45th Missile Security Squadron/44th Security Police Group Airbase Ground Defense Flight)-- a document I still have in my possession by the way-- I am licensed to drive that vehicle! My hat is off to whomever (or whichever group) did that immaculate restoration. It is a work of mechanical art! And yeah, the most obvious concession to modern road-safety requirements was the removal of those original vision blocks. They sucked. Sunlight would heat them up and cause crazing to the acrylic lamination, water would get in and delaminate them, and they'd be hazy or foggy much of the time. Visibility through them (or their protection factor) was well-intended, but in actual practice in the field, turned out to be a mere "suggestion". Installation of dark-tinted plexiglas or lexan as stand-ins for the same visual effect from the exterior view, is an excellent idea. It lacks the ballistic protection, of course, but for a resto vehicle used mostly in parades or whatever, it's perfect! I LOVE the use of that pristine gloss zinc-chromate-colored paint on the interior, too, versus the weaker, less-clean egg-shell finish paint (or glued-on foam-rubber crash-pads all over the inside) on the original. I'm also SO IMPRESSED by the restorers having parts of the underbody and wheel wells either Line-X (or Rhino-Lining) ballistically-coated. I swear by that stuff. It beats ANY kind of original paint finish (or old civilian-version under-coating) and even the non-ballistic version is still far superior preservative for areas like that subjected worst of the dust, water and mud of the trail. Hell, the U.S. Navy even uses a thick application of the ballistic version to add safety to the hulls of their submarines, the stuff is so good! If only I had the available disposable income to have a USAF parapet-version M706 in my garage (with M60s to "accessorize" it of course), ready to rock-n-roll.
Why am I in tears? Memories.
Been a fan of the V100 since I was a kid. Will be looking to buy after I retire...

Look at all that flux core welding. You can tell...that which was pre fabricated and what wasn’t. Welded flat..or in a vertical position. Interesting. Thanx! My favorite. Very nice! Saw one close in the Airforce.
