Lets hope book of boba fett s2 has cad bane training flashbacks showing a sort of care from bane as a guardain saving bobas life on multiple occasions would really show a side of him we never seen he obviously hesitated to shoot boba he had more than 5 seconds boba even closed his eyes but still he did not shoot

The "raise the brim above the eye move" is as old as cinematography...

I liked how they paid respect to both characters. They can't just have Cobb Vanth beat a renowned character like Cad Bane so they didn't want Cobb to be entirely focused on Cad, so they had him glance at his rookie.

And they didn't want to kill Cobb either but Cad could have easily. So again the rookie pulls double as a distraction for both. Cad knows the rookie will draw on him to so he rushes the shot on Cobb, the greater threat, incapacitating him instead of outright killing him to deal with rookie as quickly as possible. Very clever.

If you watch in slow motion, they drew at the same time, despite Cobb being distracted by the deputy. Had he been focused on Bane solely, I’m not so sure Bane would’ve won this. At least not without taking a round himself.

Call it the wisdom of experience.

It’s almost like Bane shot Vanth once so he could give him a chance…. But the deputy he lit up. Almost as if punishing him for making a mistake and ruining what could have been a dope blaster fight. But since th deputy kinda ruin things and made it unfair for Vanth, Bane didn’t like that. Remember in clone wars bane has a sense of honor and Justice, he saved Obi Wan when he was undercover for the citadel. So maybe Bane sorta immobilized Cobb, in the hopes one day they’d get a fair fight. Just a thought.

This makes me question how Vanth would’ve faired against bane 1v1. I know bane is a goat, but Cobb Vanth is actually quick on the draw. His deputy’s loss of composure took his attention away and he got forced to draw.

Vanth still would have lost in all likelyhood, but he would've probably got a good shot off, he's in most likelyhood quicker than Hunter when it comes to quickdrawing, and even Hunter was able to fire his blaster at Bane, in spite of being slower. End of the day with those kinds of gunfights, it usually ends up with the minute differences in skill and speed that decide the victor, and even in his old age, Bane is the quickest.

What makes this even more jaw-dropping is that Bane is an old man at this point. Duros’ have similar lifespans as humans, and Cad was already in his late 30’s/early 40’s at the start of the clone wars.

Probably right. I don't have an 1860, but I do have an 1858 belt pistol. Cad Bane's is lacking the more evenly tapered shape of the ram lever on the 1858, but definitely still has that sort of cap and ball look to it.

Most weapons in Star Wars are refurbished older guns. The blasters used by Han Solo and Jyn Erso, for example, are 1900-era Muaser C96 and Luger P08 pistols with added bits.

I call bull that Cob wouldn’t recognize Bane immediately. Cad Bane was an infamous bounty hunter in the clone wars, which there’s a decent chance he lived through. Disregarding that, word would’ve gotten around about a Duros bounty hunter wearing a hat and duster jacket called Cad Bane.

He didn't recognise him at first, but you can clearly tell that Cob figured out that was Bane as soon as the latter showed his face, you can see Cob's face go from calm to "holy fucking shit, this is bad"

this is a universe where the public knowledge of friggin jedi went from "galaxy wide known generals leading the biggest war in thousands of years" to "lmao jedi arent real" over the course of like 20 years. not that implausible that a bounty hunter gets forgotten, no matter how famous he used to be

You are wrong, by keeping them underutilized they keep you wanting more. So many characters have been ruined by over exposure. Once they are over exposed they lose their unique presence.

This was the most tense moment of the series by far.

2:18 I seriously thought I was going deaf.

One of the best scenes in all of Star Wars

I still think Cobb would have had a shooting chance (pun intended) had it been a clean uninterrupted 1v1. I took a ridiculously inappropriate amount of glee in Cad lighting up the deputy. 🙄

I think it’s been established that Cad Bane is one of if not the fastest draws in the galaxy, but still would be an interesting scenario to see play out. I’d still put my money on Bane, he’s beaten Boba Fett and Hunter on the draw.

Lee Van Cleef vibe is even more obvious in the live-action version, he have died a long time ago but his legacy carried on in the creative way

Jango Fett mentored Cad Bane and Bane even admits that he never surpassed him in the deleted unfinished Bounty Hunter arc in Clone Wars. It was the main reason why Cad Bane trained Boba in that arc so that he could surpass Jango. It's also the reason why Cad Bane was disappointed in Boba in this crap show since he doesn't see him as Jango's true successor.

Ok, we saw way too little of Cad Bane. The absolute cooest villain in a LONG time. I would be totally ok if they wrote a story line that the Pike also came and secretly picked up Cad after fighting Boba, and he TOO is healing in a Bacta tank somewhere. This would make me do the happy dance 🙆‍♂💁‍♂🤷‍♂🙋‍♂

I love how Cob Vanth's defeat was partially due to his buddy drawing early, forcing him to draw aswell.

Timothy Olyphant is brilliant here, the fear and worry in his face is in stark contrast to his usual cool calm demeanour. Been a fan since his Deadwood days.

Such an awesome character wasted far too soon, definitely should have been implemented more in this show.

I mean the spice trade has been a part of Star Wars since the original trilogy and was heavily referenced in the animated shows. Did Lucas get the inspiration for spice from Dune? Probably, but it's not a new thing for the Star Wars universe.

As much as I wish he was a darker blue you gotta admit they nailed his design

Imagine if we had cad bane in battlefront 2. You could put points towards a quick reload/shot build if you wanna go full wolf West.

The fact they got Oliphant to basically be a worse version of Rayland is pretty good
