Saguaro cactus have strong bones that hold it up. Here you can see the inside of a saguaro. Birds and small mammals sometimes live inside the plant. Fascinating stuff here in Mesa, Arizona.
An adult saguaro is generally considered to be about 125 years of age. It may weigh 6 tons or more and be as tall as 50 feet. The average life span of a saguaro is probably 150 - 175 years of age. However, biologists believe that some plants may live over 200 years.

Yes, and however many ridges are on the outside are how many "spines" are on the inside. They are actually called "Ribs" and are the skeleton of the saguaro 😊

You haven't made any large cactus cuttings yet have you. This is why you need a wood saw for the big cuttings. They're VERY hard, worse than some wood.

This is gonna sound real crazy but here on earth only the things with eyes and nerves have bones. The hard long stuff that is stuck to the ground with a green colour is called a plant and it had what we call "wood" instead of having bones like we do. All plants have a stem, even the weird ones with spikes called cactus. If you cut of the top of a pilar like cactus you will se the stem, it looks like a round ring or oval. It is there to shuffle water, take up nutrients from the roots aswell as being the support for the whole plant. The ridges around the stem are actually evolved from leaves!

It's basically a tree inside the cactus flesh
