    One of the best parts of remote filming is how much we get to see Saltzman now. All the little visual cut-ins with the head nods in agreement and such adds something for some reason. (Large head nod as I finish that sentence, so I have to assume he agrees.)

    The trivia about Kevin in Cabin in the Woods, who is not based on any existing property, is actually cool as shit. For one, he was one of the ones they almost summoned, being triggered by the film reel, and 2, they were extremely lucky to not pick him, because there was no chance in hell of surviving him, as he has the power to exsanguinate (remove all the blood from someones body) someone almost instantaneously. Or at least, that's his only known power. The quote from the novelization (edited to say not novel, so nobody gets excited for nothing) of the one kill during the purge attributed to him: "untarnished, but Dana had never seen 'anyone more dead.'" Oh, and he's just supposed to look like some guy. You might have passed him in the supermarket the last time you were there.

    Pretty sure Jango truly cared about Boba. He specified in his agreement with Dooku that he wanted an unaltered clone, he personally looked after him, taught him everything he knew, they seemed to enjoy their time together, and Boba in both AOTC and in The Clone Wars truly seems to mourn and covet his father: in one episode of TCW, he infiltrates the training facility to take out Jedi Master Windu for killing Jango (I think?), and in that one he stops himself from shooting a clone when his helmet comes off and Boba sees his father's face. Later he again refuses to kill a captured clone, presumably because he reminded him too much of his father.

    Um, actually, Sheng Long was a mistranslation of Ryu’s Dragon Punch special move, but was assumed to be the name of Ryu (and Ken’s) teacher. In actual lore, Ryu’s teacher was eventually revealed to be Gouken, who was thought to be killed by his brother Gouki, known as Akuma in the US. In the storyline of Street Fighter 4, Gouken was revealed to have survived the battle with his evil brother Gouki/Akuma, and is instrumental in helping his student Ryu not succumb to the same evil path followed by Akuma

    34:30 Um actually, although he is the antagonist of Alan Moore's "Watchmen," Veidt wasn't necessarily up to no good. He sacrificed a couple million people to save a couple billion. It's firmly in the "Trolley Problem" gray area.

  • @vincentrusso4097

    Doesn’t the comic leave it ambiguous if he actually avoided nuclear armageddon since not even dr. Manhattan could know what would have happened if (spoiler ahead) Veidt hadn’t used his monster’s exploding psychic brain to brain dead everyone.

    @pedrogarcia8706

    he was definitely up to no good. The comparison the book draws between Veidt and the protagonist of the Black Freighter clearly want you to see Adrian's actions as evil, even though he doesn't see them that way.

  • @greenredblue

    @greenredblue

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@pedrogarcia8706 I don't think the book has a definitive statement about the morality of anything - not even in the Black Freighter comic you referenced. And I think Alan Moore delights in exactly that ambiguity. Adrian himself acknowledges that he's one of the world's worst mass murderers, but from a trolley problem calculus his actions are indeed moral. Assuming he's right, which Dr. Manhattan points out is not a safe assumption. So, really, all we can say about it is there's a lot to talk about. There is no single clear interpretation. Edit: forgot to clarify the point about the protagonist of the Black Freighter. His actions in fact _were_ justified according to his understanding/assumptions at the time, even if without context they were unambiguously harmful/evil. The twist in the book is that he discovers his assumptions were wrong. But if his assumptions hadn't been wrong, then in a sense what he did was urgent and necessary. So how can "inherent evil" or "inherent good" exist if they can be changed by context? You could say that he went to such extremes that he could only be evil, but then that's arbitrary, and it leaves unanswered what we should think about the rest of the characters of Watchmen, *all* of whom do unambiguous harm to all sorts of people in the name of good. So then what are we supposed to conclude about any of this?

    Nah, choosing to murder millions of innocent people isn't morally right, any way you slice it. The answer to the trolley problem, especially when super heroes are involved, is you pick up the trolley and set it back down where there's no people, or you send the trolley down one track, and go free the person on that track, because you have fuckin' super powers. The problem is one guy thinking he has the answer to all the problems when he actually doesn't. The plan is flawed, because if the plan gets out, everything goes back to the way it was, which is what's doomed to happen thanks to Rorschach's journal. If that gets out, all those people died for nothing, and they didn't even get a choice in the matter.

    Um Actually, the Sheng Long rumor started as an april fools joke in the EGM magazine if i am not mistaken, and then akuma sort of tangentially originated from that as stated, but the rumors were that sheng long was ryu and ken's master, and in Street Fighter 4 they brought a character named Gouken, which was ryu and ken's master and has the spitting image of the april fools sheng long image from IGM. you can actually lookup in google and see how gouken and sheng long are basically the same character which was originated by a prank. and Street Fighter 2: Turbo if i am not mistaken was actually called Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting (but had the "turbo" elements such as faster movements)
