Cab Ride Arosa-Chur (Arosabahn, Rhaetian Railway - Switzerland) train driver's view in 4K

In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - a winter train driver's view from Arosa to Chur along the famous Arosa Valley in Switzerland. You can enjoy this video in the resolution of 4K/60 frames per second.
The Chur-Arosa railway, also called the Arosabahn, is a Swiss meter-gauge railway, which is operated by the Rhaetian Railway (Rhätischen Bahn; RhB). It was built in 1914 by the former Chur-Arosa-Bahn (Chur-Arosa Railway; ChA) to connect the Grisons capital, Chur, with the spa town of Arosa. Since 1942, it has been integrated into the network of the Rhaetian Railway. The name of the former company is still used as a name for the line.
This 26km line contains many civil engineering structures, including a total of 41 bridges,19 tunnels, and 12 avalanche-protection galleries. The landmark of the Arosa Railway is the Langwieser Viaduct. The longest tunnel is the 399 m-long Lüener Rüfe tunnel.
Over its whole length, the line climbs a total of 1155 vertical meters.
Chur is the capital of the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. The railway station was opened in 1858 and it is the most important railway junction in Graubünden. The station is one of the most important stations on the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) metre-gauge network.

Thank you for this video and for all infos given. Globally it was a very nice cab ride, but in fact, this very nice ride is in the first 17 minutes. I've, particurlarly, appreciated the views over the two peaks at 3.51 and at 16.50 over the mountain in the background. Splendid at the end in the city of Chur, with blue sky and as the snow is in the heights of the mountains, we would tend to believe we are at the.begining of spring..Good sunday.and next week.

The Arosabahn! Too bad the Sousabahn doesn't exist! Maybe they'll build it sooner or later! I've been seeing this line on atlases for ages! I've seen both the summer and winter versions! On the summer version the names of the convoys and tunnels are missing, which you promptly updated in the winter version! Arosa is a famous spa resort in Grisons, while Chur is the city of Grisons, its true capital, but also an important medieval city. Its station is important because it connects Zurich with the Engadine, Sankt Moritz, and above all the Matterhorn lines up to Brig, which you have brilliantly illustrated. I really like the captions about the altitude and the route. The preview stimulates those who watch! It's the railway starter! When you arrive in Chur the road crossing of the city is incredible! Everything seems precise and punctual, but then again we are in Switzerland. Snow, mountains and railways. Spectacular! Thanku Thaku and again Thank u!

Great video!. Always nice to see this winding line. There is a small mistake in the captions. The two Allegra's that we cross during this video are not the 4/16 (four-car) version but rather the 8/12 (three-car) version. The 4/16 is AC-power only, has half the number of powered axles and less than half the available power. The 8/12 (AC and DC power) is commonly found on the Arosa and Bernina lines, where its' ridiculous power-to-weight ratio is used to haul not just itself but also additional passenger AND freight cars up the slopes. If Wikipedia is to be trusted, the 8/12 actually has more tractive power than the GE 4/4 III locomotive that the RhB uses.

Yes, the way RhB uses these Allegras (not to mention also cab cars that look the same) is crazy - 8/12 train, few additional waggons, old cab car and then few cargo cars. Very pragmatic, but that is Swiss for You - very practical and pragmatic.

Since I am in America and we measure our distances in miles, how far in miles was this journey? I tried to do some math on it, but the answer isn't making any sense. My math says you went 16.22 miles, which is impossible since the trip time was an hour, and this definitely seemed like it went further than 16 miles. EDIT: The channel owner has verified that my math is correct, and the travel distance is just about 16 miles. I guess the train was not traveling as fast as it seemed to me. As for the trip itself -- fabulous! I took the entire trip without fast-forwarding. I wanted to enjoy the breathtaking views of a country that I would not otherwise ever see, or visit. It was fascinating how when the train left its starting point, there was very deep snow, but by the time it arrived at its destination, there was no snow at all. I love your train driver's view videos, and I try to watch at least a little bit of each one, or as in the case of this one, since it was only an hour, I watched the whole video. I was particularly interested in the part still under construction, that had a crane. It appeared to just -- end. I couldn't tell where it would go, since where it ended was solid earth, nowhere to go unless it will wind up merging with the active rail next to it. Yes, I thorougly enjoyed myself, and look forward to your next video. Peace, and blessed be!

A Km is 0.6 mile. At 77 and a CE, this throws me also. Multiply kph or km by 0.6 to get approx mph or miles, very close. The average grade from end to end is 1155/26000 or 4.44%. Since the last 1.5 or 2 km is close to 0 to 1%, my guess is 1155/24000 or 4.8% average with 5 to 5.5% max. grade. The Bernina Pass has 7% grades without a rack. The Flam Line in Norway is 5.5% and standard gauge.
