Cab Corners, Running Board Flex Seal White Wall Tires Update | Sunday Driver

In this episode I show you how I made a cab corner and extend the running board on my 1954 Chevy truck. I also show what my tires look like 3 months after I use white Flex Seal to make them into white wall tires. Thanks for watching and please subscribe!

Thank you very very much for your experiment and posting thorough video documentation. I’m goofing around, I wanna make my Cub Cadet lawnmower into a “rat rod” lawnmower. I thought it would be fun to do white walls and since they’re going to get all stained with grass anyhow this might be good enough for me. Thank you very much and thank your dad for an incredible brilliant idea.

I watched the other video, and it occurs to me that you should have done this in warmer weather. Also using a primer coat of flexseal clear might prevent some of the brown carbon bleed through. Allowing the flexseal to properly cure will likely give you superior results. Just Sayin'

My brother and I did this with the white wall tires what's happening is the flex seal is actually absorbing the black from the tire underneath it

That could be what's happening. I didn't drive it much when it first started to appear so I didn't think it was dirt or road grime.

Thanks for the flex-seal update. I won't bother doing my m/cycle tires. I'm going to try those ring type, that are held on by the bead.

I believe that the tire material leaches oils and the worn look is actually the oils coming out from behind the white paint.

I think they actually look more appropriate on that truck, they look old. And the dirt shows more when you have such a huge sidewall of course, a narrower whitewall would be less dramatic. That's the beauty of this, you can make whatever you want. I stuck to period correct, so for example the late 50's is about 2 1/4" whereas early 50's/40's would be wider.

I had tried white wall paint on motorcycle tires. Within days it turned yellow then brown. I think the black of the tire had bled through the white. I saw your Flex Seal video and wondered how it would last. I’m currently fighting with a set of portawalls. Way cheaper than real white walls and they don’t change colors.

Use acetone to clean tires before paint. The mineral spirits is too oily

Sly is scrapping the Flexseal off the leaky water pump........ FYI tires also have petrolium products in them which leaces out over time it appears as a brownish oily stain. I wonder if a few more coats might help them stay white ?

Hello Nick. Thank you for sharing your video. Just a curious question. Would it be easier to use a bondo body filler to patch up those worn out areas? Very nice Illustration of your work. 👍

It would probably be easier to bondo it but I wanted to try and shape the metal and see how it went. It's just an old farm truck. You can't hurt it.

Hell I would just keep adding layers of the flex seal. Keep it white fill in any chunks that come out and just makes the tire thicker and more durable lol
