Looks like there’s no way to do an oil change without taking a bath in it with this car. Good DIY video Brandon. 👍

Well done Brandon. Nice explanation to Z06 DYI'ers. Will further say, you are a man of taste. Love the color and spec of your Z06 and you aren't throwing non-value added gratuitous mods at it unlike other youtube presenters. Glad to see your oil analysis is on the money. PS. On a special car with special engine like the LT6, I personally would change the oil at 3K intervals.

Thank you and I’m probably gonna change mine more frequently especially the trans filter after watching HPOs experience w his and the shifting. Will probably send some trans fluid for analysis to see what that looks like. Thanks for the comment !

@@dbmracing2019 and if Brandon and others are looking for a reason for viscosity degradation at 6K miles....likely due to the RPM redline of the LT6. Reason this matters is, high reciprocating piston speed creates viscous shear contributing to viscosity breakdown in general and why race motors as an example require more frequent oil changes. Viscosity of course not only modulates oil flow and pressure in the engine but also regulates oil film thickness for adequate protection aka no metal on metal. So changing oil at less than 6K miles is less about contamination. I wasn't sure if this was Brandon's first oil change but break in oil has different properties as well conducive to cutting and bedding of mating parts and why important to get it out of the engine early including shedding of metal from mating parts at initial break in.

No matter what you thought about it, I think you put too much torque on the bolts anyway. The factory guideline values are what ALWAYS must be followed.

That plastic drain plug makes ZERO sense.......what engineer thought that was a good idea? My LS9 has two metal drains, and if you want to go the extra mile, disconnect both oil lines to remove another quart+ of dirty oil. 11.5~ qts to fill-er-up after if you empty everything.
