The Corvette has okay heritage..... It wasn't a good road car until the c4 generation and it wasn't a good racecar until Pratt& miller..... The Corvette was dominated by the 911 in IMSA/Trans Am as early as the Early 70s, group 5 and until late 90s and early 2000s......

@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo In all fairness, the Corvette started out as a kind of sporty cruiser - a big softie like the Thunderbird of the era. Over time it caught up, fell behind, then caught up again. Regardless, any name that has as many class wins at Le Mans as the various Corvettes is to be respected, regardless of how long it took to get there. That's more than enough heritage to surpass being merely "okay".

Yep, you nailed it. This is the everyday version. Take it anywhere, any time. Quiet, comfy, room for luggage - and owners in the US are getting just under 30mpg on the highway! Nothing wrong there! Though if you took the Z51 to the track, it would put down very serious times. But, indeed, the upcoming versions will be more "lively". Aren't we lucky to see a relatively affordable, real sports car we can actually put some serious miles on.

Interesting role reversal. From mid 70s to the late 90s the US emissions regs were more strict than Europe's so the European cars in US spec were very often less powerful than the European spec cars. Also US spec European cars back then tend to have more equipment as standard where in Europe it had to be optioned. Prime example being the E28 M5. Now the Euro spec C8 is less powerful than US spec because of GPF and they come standard with Z51 package and Summer Tires. How times have changed!

Another prime example is how Renault, Peugeot, etc. vacated the USA market because they opted not to spend the necessary money to comply with American emissions regulations. Not to get political, but the Trump administration installed a coal lobbyist as the head of the EPA, and he did away with many Obama-era emissions regulations. The Biden's MO is that "nothing will fundamentally change", and almost all Trump-era regulation curtailments have been left in place. Just to explain why the tables have turned recently.

Such a pleasure to watch this review. Really well done and hit on the points of the Corvette. Most sport cars will do the trick, it's more about the driver than the car. I've been driven in a van around a race track faster than I could drive a formula 3 car when I was first learning. I like the smoothness of the Corvette for 90 percent of the drives, the other 10 percent I would be in a GT3.

As an American, I offer my blessings to your digestive system and overall sense of well being after eating and drinking that processed crap. Highly recommend a trip to Texas for a fresh piece of cow and a local German-recipe brew. The new Corvette might be the best bargain that ever existed in a sports car. I feel it's the first affordable supercar actually. I've seen a few tooling around Texas. And I am amazed that they are instantly recognizable, from the front at least, as a Corvette. I came up on one at a stoplight and from the rear at a distance, I didn't know if it was a Ferrari or a new NSX. I suppose that's the point. Hey look everyone, a supercar you can afford! Pretty good trick. The only design-flaw I see is the air intakes on the side would have looked better inverted with the long piece on the bottom. Also makes me happy to hear that from a Brit's perspective the quality is good. I know American cars have a lot to compete with when compared to their German and Japanese rivals. And the best part is those LS Chevy engines are ultra-reliable. People are easily getting over 200K miles out of them.
