"17 minutes of complete insanity" Rob Hubbard,2017

This is so EPIC !!!! I was Born 1970 the C64 was my first Computer 1983. I hear that Music and now i am 53 Years old and still love it. My kids always ask me "Dad what is that?" ;) I'm just saying that was music!!!

The name of the game was KNUCKLE BUSTERS if anyone is interested. It wasn't much of an experience to play it. This music, on the other hand, is indeed epic. Every time I listen to it and concentrate, shivers go up the spine!

This is a full-blown panic attack turned into music.

Rob Hubbard, Tim Follin, Martain Galway & Jereon Tel = Best C64 composers of all time!

@@dmtm I am with Chries Huelsbeck too. But fuck god damn it Rob Hubbard did some insane stuff with the SID. 17 minutes of a song for a game no one cared to play for more than 5 minutes. Holy shit. This is an epic masterpiece.

The bass riffs go deep in your brain and DON'T go away. Freaking masterpiece.

So glad to have grown up in the 80's with this amazing computer, spent hundreds of hours listening to the legendary music from the c64's amazing sid chip. If music was your thing back then, nothing else cut it such as spectrum or Amstrad. And of course the music maestro made it all possible with his amazing talent, that's not forgetting others such as Martin Galway, and Ben Daglish from memory. 37 years later and I can still remember sys codes, sys16384 and sys49152 lol, sad or what haha. Thanks for the post.

idk why but some instruments remind me of instruments of middle ages

the first 2.55 of this piece are so insanely great and one of the finest things I think I've heard from Rob Hubbard but truthfully it only manages this up to 2.55 where I think it becomes less great thereafter. An amazing technical feat of brilliance though by the master but one that isn't as good as it's initial opening three minutes. That's not to say it doesn't also have some very great moments as well throughout the remaining track but it's a little inconsistent as to it's greatness. I'm really not trying to shit on it but looking at it honestly. Special mention of 13.41- 13.45 which is a delightful variation And with that all said, there's the amount of time that likely would have been taken on this which wouldn't have been exceptionally long I guess. I have an orchestral work of around this mark and it's taken years on and off and it's still not what I would call consistently great structurally but I've had the luxury of time to make it so. So it's an absolute marvel this piece exists in the form it does frankly and I certainly do bow down to the man. People should also take a look at his youtube channel if they can where he has some tremendous orchestral works. Such a fantastic talent

I love that bass octave glissando thingy from 2:13 onward.

I've been listening to this stuff since 1986 or earlier and don't regret a second of it!

I swear, when I listen to this, I can feel the Wave Forms inside my brain, like a mix between a forehead massage, and mental alteration... duuuuuude, soooo totally trippy...!

This is THE BEST track for the oscilloscope. Some of the parts illustrate so well. :D

Has anyone ever tried turning sync on for all thee oscillators? I mean, think about it, if each takes it's cue to trigger from the last, would all the voices just lock up? It's like a bunch of people in front of a lift and all three are going "No, you first!"

I remember this song from an oddball demo, not a game. The demo was called “eyes of irius “ or something like that. 8 different coloured eyeball sprites moving in a circle, choreographed to this music. Anyone else seen this???

Hubbard MUST have been on the weed when he composed this... it's all over the place.

This tune is very special. On a standard device , the tune sounds horrible noisy. Just on the SID it sounds interesting caused by the frequency limit of that chip.

Yes I wondered this - There's been a lot of 'Monty on the run' Covers with guitars etc... But I have not not found one of this yet! There is a Hendrix influence in there!!!

perfection up to the 2.55 mark and then other than certain parts it loses it for me. Technically astounding though no matter how you look at it especially considering the conditions he worked with

I played the game, in 1986. Horrible stuff even back then.
