C6 Z06 DRM Rack Bushing Upgrade, Brake Job & LS7 Oil/Filter Change

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This video is all about why having a pre-purchase inspection done is a good idea on most vehicles. I should have had one done on my C6 Z06! It could have saved me a lot of money, or at least gave me a bargaining chip during negotiations.
Instead, I had to eat some of the cost of parts that would have been extremely obviously in need of replacement.
In this video we go over the following:
-Brake Pad/Rotor Replacement
-Doug Rippie Motorsports Delrin Steering Rack Bushing
-LS7 Oil & Filter Change
The next video will be back on the Iroc-Z, so stay tuned for more!

You should upgrade the suspension on the IROC and make a autocross car.

Wow!! I am sorry about that mix up bro!!! I ran into that one myself with the WS6 store. They sent me a Corvette brake kit instead of a T/A set up. I had my car up and on the rack. Had painted the break Calipers and had beat off the old brakes. It was most disappointing to have to put the olds ones back on. I had to wait two more weeks to get them installed. Frustrating! It looks like you handled it like a bro, as always!!! Awesome job!!!!!👍👍👍

Nice video. Took me a while to figure out which brake rotors were the correct ones for my Z06 since there are like 3 different sizes that are made.Just a FYI, One thing that i found out too that you might be interested in is when i pulled my steering rack to intall my ATI dampener I found out that the high pressure line for the PS system was revised by GM later on. (my Z06 is a 2006). This was a TSB from GM about steering shudder or vibration. I decided to purchase the revised line and install it. It is a much longer line that runs in front of the return line and PS cooler. Happy wrenching man and keep up the good work.

The struggles you had with the suspension and brakes should have been a part 1 & 2 and you should have shown the issues you were having and the problems you encountered. This was still a very good video and you do a very good job with your music and bringing all of us content to watch and learn. Keep up the fight, you will have a rockin vette next summer.

I had considered doing it in two parts, but I didn't really have much more footage to use. It's hard to not just "fix it" when you are having issue after issue. The camera becomes a second thought lol. Hope that makes sense.

Dont forget the clutch cylinder fluid My 07 z06 at 8800 miles clutch pedal went to the floor and stayed there in the middle of traffic (hyd cyl went bad) Bought one from GM 125$ on the GM box said made in Germany i took the old cylinder apart and the pluger had inverted Just giving you a heads up bro I can't even trust the new part (but it works for now)

If I'm not mistake, GM has a newer version of the clutch MC than I have on this car. I believe it's black? I've done the ranger method on it quite a few times, and the fluid keeps coming back dark pretty quickly. I don't think it was almost ever done on this car until I bought it. That should be regular maintenance on these lol.

Great video! Curious if there were any drawbacks to the steering bushing? More vibration or anything like that? I’m definitely wanting to do it to get a bit better steering feedback but wasn’t sure if you felt anything bad out of it. Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't say theres anything for drawbacks with it. It's sort of a pain to install in my experience, other than that it's hard to say if it improved the "feel" on the car at all because the old bushing was shot.

Hey guys i'm a bit new to the car community but i'm currently working on restoring my dad's old 87 iroc z but one problem i'm having with the engine is that when the rpms drop down to 500 the car stalls. Originally when this started happening we took it to the mechanic and they just raised the rpms on idle, for the most part this solved the issue but every now and then the issue comes back. After they changed the rpm for idle it idles at 1000 but every now and then it will drop to 500 and stall, this also happens when in drive or reverse. Anybody have any ideas? Thank you guys for any help you can give.

  • @Greenlightfilming

    @Greenlightfilming

    3 жыл бұрын

The idle is set too high at 1,000rpm. They did that to keep the engine running when you put it in gear (forward or reverse). If you are mechanically inclined, I would pay close attention to the ignition timing. That's what was wrong with my car and would do the same thing. There's a black single wire "EST" connector on near the passenger's side strut tower. Unplug it after you've warmed up the car. This will take timing advance out of the equation, and run the engine on the base timing alone. See if it dies with that wire disconnected going from drive to park/into reverse etc and report back.
