C5 Corvette Dyno Testing (A&A Supercharged/3 Pulls at Moh's Performance, MN)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

How much horsepower does the Toys4Life C5 Corvette make? I have been asked too many times to count. It is finally time to dyno test the A&A Vortech Supercharged C5 Corvette at Moh's Performance in Blaine, MN to solve the mystery.

@@Toys4Life incredible. I have a buddy with a beautifully built and tuned 350Z, and it does similar horsepower number but not until 20+ psi. Pretty beautiful and underrated platform in the C5, and the fact they can produce so much power at relatively low boost is so awesome. Fun to think you could run 5-8psi kind of indefinitely and be in the mid/high 400’s.

I may have missed it, is your tune scaled? Mine runs off the bottom row of the timing table. It hits 1.4 g/s air mass somewhere around 4500 wide open. I've got mine capped at 12 degrees, so I lose out on some midrange. But with 592hp and 520tq I can't be too mad, it pulls strong.

Amperage draw equals power loss IE: 6 interior bulbs sear belt warning light door ajar indicator on door/ key chime comes to about 30 amps check alt belt and see the increased tension. Your c5 horn draws 20-30 amps alone with a 20-30 second recovery time at 1200 rpms so next time engage seat belt behind the seat and shut the door as every little bit helps , ps it's bade enough the front parking lights are on with a 8-10 amp draw ....

@@Toys4Life In my area I would say an average dyno tune will start around 400. Cam swap tunes will be 550 to 600. Boost only is around 500. Boost plus heavily modded engine can be well over 600. The problem and I've experienced it first hand on multiple cars is that they rarely fully tune the car in a given 2 or 3 hour session. So you just paid a metric ton of money for a half assed job that may or may not run and drive well. I've got a few leads on some shops around here that are less than 200 miles away that will hopefully be willing to work with me some where in between a rental and a full dyno tune. In a perfect world my car would still benefit greatly from getting some slow speed parking lot manners dialed in on a loaded dyno.

  • @Toys4Life

I did not. Why? Before buying the kit I read extensively every thread I could find about going with a 2 bar MAP and modifying the tune vs ravaging the PE in the stock tune. A&A has had good luck with the 2nd method. I decided to try method 2 and if it wasn't meeting my needs - or- if I found my AFR was not staying where I wanted it at WOT - THEN I would go to a 2 bar tune. I keep a very close eye on AFR's and over the past 5 years it has always been very close to the AFR I desired at WOT. So, I see no reason to do so with my setup - although I may do it anyways so that I can log boost.

I have a couple mainly cosmetic mods in mind for this winter - but nothing drastic. Subtle is more my taste like the door sill plates and the polished aluminum coil mounts. If you have suggestions - I am always looking for ideas that match my tastes! Thank you!!

LS6 valve springs, injectors big enough to squirt e33 fuel. Otherwise bone stock.

Yes - except I have a Z06 mid-pipe setup that uses different main cats and got rid of the pup cats. That is worth at least 10hp (probably more) over the stock 2003 C5 midpipe.

@@Toys4Life you should try and find the stock Z06 cat back, little more noise but still stock appearing, obviously headers would render large gains

@@CPAJayhawk I thought about that, but since the stock exhaust weighs quite a bit more and is behind the rear tires I believe it gives me a bit more traction and I'll take any additional traction I can get.

LS1 engines handle extra power quite well. IMO 550 RWHP and under is pretty safe. Keep in mind, mechanical issues or and engine experiencing knock can take out even a fully forged engine pretty quick. Key is to scan for knock and keep everything in excellent condition.
