This video is so, so needed and in fact, I watched it twice just trying to absorb as much as possible. Such a great job pulling together something so scattered and confusing then packaging it in a well organized and digestible format and style. I love the 'Then' price premium and the 'Now' premium for comparison too. Bravo!

Thanks Dan! I ended drawing a "line in the sand" to my considerations of what to include in this video...As I mentioned in the beginning, had to be street legal cars that you could buy at a Chevy dealership (as "aftermarket" cars are kind of a separate thing). Otherwise this video would've been HOURS long LOL I love those Supernaturals, but they weren't available at Chevy dealerships, so that's why they weren't included. Incredible machines tho!

Now that I've seen this video I'm gonna do more research to make it as close to original as possible. I have one of the white convertibles with the somewhat overwhelming red interior. Oh...and I just read that in 1986 they produced a grand total of 4 Copper Metallic corvettes which appears to be even less than the 1994 run you mentioned.

Thanks! Regarding the 1986 Copper BRONZE Metallic...A few people have made that comment and wondered why I didn't include it. I was aware of it, but that color was available in much bigger numbers in other model years. So if you're talking ALL Copper Bronze Metallic Corvettes...Not really that rare/special. Whereas the 1994 Copper Metallic (a lighter/oranger hue) was ONLY available for that year and is very rare. So, very easy for carspotters to identify it, and a very rare color to spot on a C4.

Great video! I am the owner of the 95 Indy Pace Car featured in your video.......I bought it a couple of months after you made this video of it on the turntable at Vanguard Motor Sales in Michigan and had it shipped to Texas where I live. I love this car.....it is like the day it was built in all respects and a blast to drive. The current mileage on it is 1070 miles. I entered it in NCRS top flight judging and it received an extremely high score. Basically all it got counted off for was having a replacement non LOF windshield and the driver's window has the correct LOF logo but a date code that signifies a date 5 months after the car was built. I've talked to the previous owners and they claim they never changed out any of the glass, so that is a mystery. My guess is that it was vandalized at the dealership before it was sold to the first owner.

Nice video! I love the prefacelift style, both exterior and interior. But I love track days. So I made it pretty hard for myself to find 1989' (last year of prefcelift interior) but first year with 6 speed manual which was necessity. 89' had a lot of technical upgrades compared to earlier C4 years. There were only two 1989'with manual for sale in whole Europe. I ended up with buying dark red 1989 Coupe with 6 speed manual that had oldschool Paxton compressor, Accel Supperram intake and Z51 package. Drove 1000 km back to home without problems. This year, when I opened up the engine, was bit surpised - a lot of upgrades previous owner did not know about. Forged pistons, cam roller lifters androller rockers, screw in rocker stud conversion, 4 bolt main block, Accel standalone ECU, oil pump drive upgrade, and some other stuff. Really pleased with it.

There is a very rare Corvette C4 promoted by Chevrolet in the Corvette News Summer 1985 edition. It was several pages about a car called the LEROY NEIMAN COLLECTOR'S EDITION. The cars were specially modified to suit the world famous artist Leroy Neiman. The work was done at Lipman Chevrolet in Hartford Connecticut. 25 cars were planned but sadly only 9 were made, each one autographed on the drivers side headlight cover as 1/25, 2/25, 3/25 etc . Cars were white over gold, white interior seats with saddle carpet. The seats were gold leaf signatured and the door panels had "back lit" transparent slide of the painting done by Leroy .

I have a red on red 89 six speed. Not particularly rare, but it is the only year you can get the pre-face lift interior and exterior with the six speed, and being an early 89, it has the slightly sprinter 3.54 rear end. I believe the 3.54 wasn't around very long but correct me if I'm wrong.

I love 1989s...That ZF 6 speed is IMO a huge improvement over the earlier Doug Nash 4 plus 3, BUT you get to still have the super rad early styling/digital dash.

Not GM production, but the Lingenfelter modified ZR-1's were truly the King of the Hill. Especially the 415cid and Twin Turbo Lingenfelter ZR-1's. All ultra rare, less than 25 415's and only 4 twin turbos were made by Lingenfelter.

I’m surprised you didn’t talk about the elusive greenwood edition! I see one around town all the time and am curious how many were made and how it compares to other editions.

There are a TON of "bodykits" or aftermarket mods out there for these cars, so I had to draw a line as to what a "special edition" meant for the context of this video so it wasnt hours long! My line in the sand was it had to be available from the factory, Greenwood kits were all aftermarket. Really snazzy though!

This video gave me buyers remorse on my base C4 lol. Didn’t realize the rarity of these packages. Just thought people were insane asking C6 money for a C4. I always knew the story behind the ZR1 but never knew about the rest.
