I’m a teacher, and I’m so, so sorry that teacher abused her time with you. A teacher’s job is to ALWAYS see the possibilities in her students and in their dreams. A beautiful song was birthed from that moment, but that will never justify her words. Thank you for the reminder of the power of words...for their ability to harm and their ability to inspire. His inspiring words led you to write a song that took the power from her harmful words. Love it!

nancy homb i have never met a teacher who was up to the task nd many were just like this and i was a brilliant child......

I came out of a four-room tarpaper shack, back in the late '40s. We moved out of that rural neighborhood in 1953, and did a little better for a few years. Ten years after moving into the house my dad built, my parents divorced. But my dad bought me a 1954 Stratocaster that year, and my older brother put me into his band. And I eventually made enough money with that guitar and others, to pay my way through junior college, then Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, where my brother built a music store and an MCI-equipped recording studio. I got to have my dreams there, for three or four years. And later, got to work a decent job and build a house for my family and give my sons a good start on life. All because of a guitar. Sometime, the Lord opens different doors for us. We just have to have faith enough to put one foot in front of the other and get after it.

Ella Wheeler Wilcox is credited with having said, “There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul.” I first heard that line when I was a young father, struggling with a developing career, a growing family, and wearing heavily the weighty recognition that I really needed to make sure I got all of it right. That saying became my mantra.

Love Your story Ashley!!! Ever Since 7th Grade my High School baseball coaches said I would never even have a shot at playing high school baseball. I remember the coaches looking at my name thinking that I was a joke to even show up and one even told me to quit. I’ve been cut 5 years in a row from high school baseball. As my friends got to play school ball I remember that the only thing that would make me happy was going to the gym and to the batting cage to prove them wrong. Thankfully that paid off and now I am going to play college baseball now!!!!!

This girl is a diamond. True artist not like the Hollywood country wanna be bunch.. I am very impressed with her talent. This is what country used to be .. Honest talent.. Just a her and a guitar..

I cried like a baby when she sang this at country fair 2019 in Alpharetta Ga. She sang a song with one of her guitarist omg it had me balling too. She is so amazing and rocked that stage.

I've not seen her in concert and up until a few days ago I really didn't know who she was and you're not alone. I cried in my kitchen. When she sings never seen without a rod and reel it's my daddy she is singing to me about. He went home over 6 years ago.

I wish to God I had got my father's voice on some recording. Did you see where the lady had been texting her daddy's cell number for four years to have her text answered by the gentleman who had lost his daughter? I've kept my daddy's cell account paid all this time. No one knows but you not even my wife. I call just to hear his voicemail. I'm 46 and I feel like a little boy lost in a dark forest with no one to save me. I'm a orphan now and I'm not tethered to the ground. God bless you

Bad teachers are almost as bad as bad policeman. I went into law enforcement for the same reasons as you. A bad teacher can screw a kid up pretty bad. I go to a parent teacher conference to check out the teacher more than to check on my child

Im a Red Dirt girl. from Odessa Tx that moved to Ar. Spent the weekend in Springfield a yr later to see Cody Jinks and Whitey Morgan. Finally in 2019 for the first time I got to stand,dance,and holler out songs I love as they are being performed right in front of me. FFF

Love his song, and this Artist, she is wicked, when I was in grade 9, my math teacher, who just happened to be our school guidance counselor , said you won't amount to much???, your math skills are terrible, we'll 30 years later I run my father's family construction company, his house, my old teacher needs help, his septic system is giving him problems, after we fix it I need too add up his bill, would my math skills be able to satisfy him???? , I WON., LOL.

I have been a teacher for 22 years and I have never underestimated the power I have in the front of that classroom. I have always tried to use that power to empower, motivate, encourage, inspire, and enlighten the students. The mathematics I teach them will be long forgotten but the impact I make on them will not so I try to make it a positive one. I am happy you proved her wrong and you can sing songs such as this that will empower, encourage, inspire and motivate others to do the same.

My Dad taught me to play guitar when I was 11 and I just fell in love with Country Music. I continued playing and singing 🎤 and dreamed of being on a stage some day. I heard that a band was looking for a female vocalist. I auditioned and with the support of my husband we ended up performing as the house band at the same nightclub for nearly 8 years. My dream had come true.
