@johnthreesixteen316 The process still at work? Sedimentation. Turbidity currents at the edge of continental shelves for example or maybe rivers - you must have heard of them.
@Sciencebox201014 жыл бұрын
@micah1116 No you're right, to surround a large body fossil such as a whale or tree with sediment would happen rapidly over a period of weeks or months or even less due to a turbidity current. It's the rock formation that takes the time and that's what she's referring to. I don't know the term polystrate but I guess it means through many strata, again it is reasonable to expect that in areas of rapid deposition such as volcanic areas you would get these without resorting to religious nonsense

@johnthreesixteen316 You obviously don't understand how evolution works. It is not driven. It works on the survival of individual genes and groups of genes. For evolution a dragonfly is just as highly evolved as a human or for that matter any other organism alive on the planet today as they have survived or (more accurately) the niche in which they live has survived. Find out what evolution is first, then comment

The same processes that created the rock can be seen on Earth today. It takes a long time to create sedimentary rock. Radio metric dating is used to date the rock, a long established an accurate technique. Those of you who want to ignore science or make pathetic attempt to debunk it never have to justify their position - for example, if your flood led to the aquatic fossils in the high Andes and Himalayas then where did the water go because there isn't enough on the planet now to reach.

I know that this thread happened a long time ago...but johnthreesixteen316, I would like to request that you produce a list of references of scientific journal articles that support your claims. These exist by the hundreds of thousands supporting what Ian is saying. If anything you said is actually supported by science, it would have been published and debated by the scientific community, and the process best supported by the evidence would be the one we currently teach. Ian's.

@johnthreesixteen316 Rubbish - the dating of rocks and fossils is not done by assumption. It is only reasonable to predict that rock and fossil in the same strata formed at the same time - but both can be radio metrically dated. I wonder why your flood killed the many marine organisms which disappeared 65 million years ago eg ammonites
