C-Skip Example #runningtips
Ойын-сауық
The C-skip running drill is a dynamic exercise that helps to improve your running form, specifically your hip flexor strength and flexibility, knee drive, and leg turnover. It is a variation of the A-skip drill, but instead of driving your knee up and forward, you drive it up and out to the side. This helps to open up your hips and improve your range of motion.
To do a C-skip, start with your feet shoulder-width apart. Take a small hop forward, driving your right knee up and out to the side. As your knee comes up, swing your arms in opposition, bringing your right arm forward and your left arm back. Land on the ball of your right foot, and then repeat on the left side. Continue alternating sides, keeping your arms moving in opposition.
As you do the C-skip, focus on keeping your core engaged and your back straight. Your head should be up, and your eyes should be looking forward. The C-skip should be a smooth, fluid movement.
Here are some tips for doing the C-skip correctly:
Keep your core engaged and your back straight.
Lift your knee up high and out to the side.
Swing your arms in opposition.
Land on the ball of your foot.
Keep your movement smooth and fluid.
Start by doing the C-skip slowly, and then gradually increase your speed. You can do the C-skip on a flat surface or on a track. If you are new to running drills, start with a few sets of 10 C-skips per leg. As you get stronger, you can increase the number of sets and repetitions.
The C-skip is a great drill to add to your warm-up or cool-down routine. It can also be used as a standalone exercise to improve your running form. If you are looking for a way to improve your hip flexor strength, knee drive, and leg turnover, the C-skip is a great option.
Here are some of the benefits of doing the C-skip running drill:
Improves hip flexor strength and flexibility
Improves knee drive
Improves leg turnover
Improves running form
Reduces the risk of injuries
Helps to warm up or cool down before or after a run

When I do these before any speed work it's crazy how the pace picks up and feels more natural than forced

Thank you for this comment as I am a newbie and didn’t know the reason for this exercise
Honestly I love C skips they’re kind of hard to get used to but once you do they’re just so fun
Tip: say why C-skip is useful for beginners or for would-be runners.

The best teacher out there can’t wait to see all the future gold medalists dominate the next Olympics
Could you tell us the benefits / reasons for training the A-B-C skips? Just a warm up or training your gate and mechanics??

I do these daily and aside from helping with gait and mechanics, you also get incredible activation and mobility in your posterior chain. They are great if you have difficulty firing up your glutes, hamstrings and hips before you do some heavy lifts like squats/deadlifts etc. (but ensure that you dont fatigue your muscles out before hitting the weights). My hips have also become extremely mobile because of these and I can bring my knees to my chest while standing straight with ease.
Chari, I hope YOU know how much YOU are appreciated! YOU are such a gift to track and field and to all of us! Every tip, drill, video YOU share is exceptional and so very helpful! Thank YOU so much for everything YOU do! YOU have an AMAZING day and week of training!

I am hoping we get through the alphabet by the end of the year. :-)
What's the benefit?
When you say hips tall, do you mean like tail tucked? What does keeping your hips tall mean?
Friendship
In what way does it help ?
What brooks shoes are those?
Which pair of shoes ?
Radhe radhe
What is this used for again? Sprinting or jogging?
What does this train? Besides straining my groin? I have zero run training.
Benefits ?
Aha so that's the C skip! Thanks.

I tend to drag my feet as my legs are still sleeping when I'm fully awake so this exercise is most helpful, sort of like those exercises footballers do when playing soccer
C-skip requires good flexibility, if you're dead stiff like me it is really hard to do 😅
❤..
C skips are used for warming up your muscles, these exercises are not going to drastically improve your running style… Training is specific… you want to be a great c slipper do these… you want to be a good runner? Run
Ok now do the C walk 😜
hardest part of running is having the discipline to spend time you could be running on doing the drills and exercise that improves running!
I don’t understand how move the arms in the C-skip 🙄
What is benefit or purpose of this exercise? ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
