    for those saying about the smoke, you tune the kart to be on the rich side until it gets to the high rpm and racing temp, then smoke goes away and you get the full engine hp. On the IAME Sudam we do thst way, finals are like 20 laps long.

    Most of the open foreign engines of this era and class were BM130's and Komet K99 BBomb engines. Saw one Burton Invader kart that ran K99's with two Tillotson carbs on the rotary valve and one carb with a reed valve on the fuel pump boss, on each engine. Klotz and Blendzall Gold Label oils were typical. Lake Speed was one of the smoothest and fastest drivers of the time. Looks like he still is!

    Power to weight ratios similar to CanAm car from that era. Raced against Lake Speed at a national event at Whitestone IN. Needless to say the boy was quick.

    Okay, so a 250 cc 2 stroke engine is legal in that class ? Or possibly, twin 100 cc engines. ...

    They start with 135cc engines, traditionally. In fact, the class used to be called "270cc Open."

    Just normal 2 stroke mix nothing fancy We did at one time use Castrol R. For class four but 60 years ago.
