You should climb onto the door, I agree :) meaning you "don't need an invitation." It's common sense to anyone, man, woman or child. Even if someone told you: "no" lol You don't need their permission or an invitation. So now it becomes: _What did Jack Dawson know that we didn't._ The character Jack is presented to us as smart and competent. Therefore, *1.)* either his body was frozen *2.)* he had a concern (such as, if he climbed onto the door, he risked weighing down the door and drowning them both).

The water is freezing cold. You would most likely suffer a trauma and be unable to move. Sadly, you can’t always trust your words. Try to jump in a water that’s probably less than 10 degrees Celsius.

Although, there have been efforts to create a Titanic 2 (a ship) that’s very true to the layout and features of the first Titanic. Funding has really been an issue for years though, so it’s stalled multiple times. So maybe they’ll have another crack at it. 😅

Emily Cronan if you watched the movie, you'd see that he did try to get on, but it tipped and almost capsized. Secondly, you have to take into account that the titanic had just sunk, and the force pulled them underwater, requiring a lot of strength to swim back up to the surface in freezing waters. So, it is possible that he didn't have enough strength to hop in even if he wanted to

For those who actually paid attention, Jack initially did attempt to climb onto the panel with Rose, but this nearly flipped the panel and dumped her back into the freezing water. Immediately following this realization, Jack nodded to himself and accepted his fate (not that he would necessarily die, but that he'd have to mostly stay in the water, which made it far more likely that he would die, which he did). Whether it would have worked in real life is irrelevant, as it was *shown* to *not* work in the movie itself, and that's good enough.
