As the son of a preacher, I have always found my way back to listening to Dr. C. L. Franklin. Lately, as I've begun singing and leading worship, I have found it challenging to stand before people and get out of myself to minister effectively to the congregation. Preaching and worshippers have the same job. The call to the ministry and preaching is what I am called to, but the moments of growing stale and not being able to go into the text to read alone has been my latest challenge. So, songs are the inspiration for studying the word. Thanks for posting this lecture. I truly desire to be my best at preaching, leading into worship, and affecting change in lives.

Good to see this well thought out lecture. My father, Joe Von Battle, recorded ALL of the over 100 sermons and songs of the Rev. C.L. Franklin (even those on Chess and other labels). From this association, my father also recorded Franklin's daughter, Aretha, and produced her first, gospel records. I grew up steeped in the aural gifts of the Franklins, and honor my father's discernment to be the first to capture these geniuses for the ages.

Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate the legacy of your father. He was a genius and critical to African American history and the history of preaching. I have a PhD student doing her dissertation on Franklin. I hope I can connect her with you sometime. Thanks for connecting with me.

Reverend it is a good lecture. However, it is hard for one to follow if you are reading 90 percent of the lecture and not looking at your audience doc. Almost as if you are talking at them not too them very robotic. However, I was able to follow it because I love C.L. Franklin. Overall I see your efforts that you that you put into this Doc. God Bless you.
