Bishop Patterson was a man of God. Saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. When I was at the lowest point in my life. I wrote him a letter and he wrote me back. God rest your soul Bishop G. E. Patterson. I love you. I use to love to hear you sing and preach. You loved those old spirituals and hymns. I think about you when I'm playing my Hammond C-3 Organ.

3rd stanza..."Stumbling on the mountain..dark with sin and shame..stumbling towards the pit of hells' consuming flame..by the power of sin diluted and oppressed..hear the tender shepherd come to me and rest" My favorite verse! Listen at about 3:26 and hear those beautiful strings!

I grew up singing hymns and honestly feel they are foundations that we in a NOW day generation should continue to pass on to future generations. This is my most favorite hymn...ALOHA from Hawaii...

What a beautiful hymn! It had disappeared from youtube so I thank whoever re-posted it! The words are so uplifting! Note to young SINGERS AND MUSICIANS: There is a powerful message in this hymn...please learn the hymns, young people! Alot of what we're calling gospel these days is not really gospel ..AT ALL!

For a classical setting of this text, go to Nederland Zingt, where 25,000 Dutch congregants sing in Utrecht's Jaarsburg. KZread "Kom Maar Bij Mij."

Knowing this to be one of Bishops' favorite hymns, I wonder if anyone has video of him singing? Just wondering...and praying that some one does!

Does anyone know all the lyrics to this hymn? For someone unfamiliar to this hymn, it's hard to understand what they're singing... but it's beautiful! Thanks!
