@@lordpain6000 Correction, some people in the island had Carnival, not the island. Most Jamaicans aint a fan of Soca nor Carnival, thus the lowest turnout among Caribbean islands even though we have one off the biggest population. The difference between Us and you is that we appreciate other people culture, we dont appropriate it. Do we claim or take credit for Soca or Carnival? Trinibad renamed Dancehall, have you ever seen a Jamaican do this? Colonization in its truest form

@@NativeNomads10 bajans hv bashment soca, dominica have bouyon soca, grenada have jab jab...it's nothing new. It's called trinibad because it's not from jamaica the orginal birth place of dancehall. It has it's own identity and if u don't care about soca ill give u another example with rap and drill which is 1000× bigger than dancehall yet still Americans don't cry about it. Your government choose to spend more money on a culture that is not ur own y? Because it bring alot more revenue. Nobody flying to there to see reggea sumfest or Sting but they will fly for carnival.
@NativeNomads10
Жыл бұрын
@@lordpain6000 Fun facts, the word bashment is a Jamaican word and it means Dancehall. And Jamaican created rap and influence Uk grime which influenced their drill. All the soca you mentioned are branch of Soca and you all in the lesser Antilles seems to be ok with appropriating culture instead of appreciating it. Regardless of what you might say, Trinibad is Dancehall even using our language and accent to sing then renaming our genre. Its not up to you the culture vultures to determine whats disrespectful, its up to us the creator who should determine that. Which government spending more money on another culture thats not ours? Which culture is that? Do you think our government keep Carnival? no thats a few people in Jamaica who mostly went to uwi and includes people from other Caribbean countries. Do you know how many people who comes to Jamaica and caused blocked traffic for Reggae sum fest, dream weekend and sting? are you this misinformed to be talking crap?
