Bypass Car Alarm Easy, Starter kill on 1999 Toyota Camry LE V6

Watch video for steps
Additional info to find box:
open the hood, look for the car alarm horn/ siren. I cut mine out, but you don't have to (but it makes life so much easier without that noise, and you can keep your battery connected while working),
just look for the wire that is connected to the car alarm horn, there should only be one red wire. (horn should be located face down near the top right).
If you cut the wire from the siren, you can try tugging the wire to find where it leads.
Now follow that wire all the way down (It should lead into the drivers side, above the gas pedal. around that area).
Once you have located the siren's wire, it will lead you to the alarm box, because it is one of the wires connected to the alarm box.
Make sure you have a screwdriver and have undone the basic plastic panel below your steering wheel, note you don't have to unscrew the metal plate below the wheel, just the plastic frame, so you can get a better look BEHIND it.
Stick your head near the gas pedal with a flashlight and find that car siren/ alarm wire (might be red), if you are lucky you might see sunlight through the hole of where the wire enters.
Also if the alarm box is way up in there and you need to cut a few zip ties BE CAREFUL not to cut the surrounding wires!!!

    I just removed the fuse 18 to the alarm system and disconnected the battery so the computer shut down, then hooked up the battery turned the key on and off 2 times. The third time I hit the starter. It worked and I left the fuse out for good. Now the ecm doesn't look for the alarm. Thanks for getting me to look in the owners Manuel for the control power for the black box. Most of the Toyotas are a little bit different and my manual told me the right information for my car.

  • @LordLoss

    @LordLoss

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Keith Turner the security system disables the connection to the starter, so you turn the key and nothing happens... if you are attempting to jump start, then you would have to disconnect the battery, so yes I imagine you would have this same problem (if you do not have the key with the chip).

  • @LordLoss

    @LordLoss

    4 жыл бұрын

    You are probably using a key without the chip in it, so unlocking the car without the chip and only the key will set the alarm off. But yeah, you can totally just cut the wires to the horn, as long as you are still able to start the car while the alarm is going off. I am no mechanic, but I cut my horn those years ago, and it was a separate entity from the alarm system.

  • @LordLoss

    7 жыл бұрын

    Well, you should not have pulled out any "wires", you should have disconnected the white plastic plug in cables from the black box (looks like a lego piece at 1:25 ).... The point is that you aren't pulling out a wire that can't be plugged back in. So what wire are your referring to? a specific wire? or the white connector?

  • @1963c10
    @1963c106 жыл бұрын

    Is this the dealer installed "TDS" alarm system? I recently inherited a 97 Camry with around 39k original miles and it has the TDS alarm installed. The key fobs were either lost or destroyed in a kitchen fire as were the original keys. I don't want to have to deal with this stupid alarm system once I try to work on the car and get it back on the road.

  • @LordLoss

    Follow the siren wire that I cut out in the video, it leads you to the alarm box beneath the driver's foot area. If the box has those two thick cables, it is likely a starter kill alarm box. Just unplug the white connectors and you should be good.

    I never had a remote for my car. On the black alarm box, you can look on the back side to read all of the functions the alarm box does and figure out if there are any remote functions. I think you should be ok, though. And it is not as if what I recommend isn't reversible. You can always plug it back in and check. :)

    Can't find the alarm box? Look at the video description for detailed steps. The way I found it was by following my "siren" wire. The siren is the horn which makes all the alarm noise, which is located beneath the car hood, upper right side, pointing down. Follow that wire connected to your siren, it will go from your siren in your hood into your car, near your foot pedal area. Then go inside your car and try and locate that same wire, then follow it all the way up to the alarm box(going towards your steering wheel above the pedal). It might be tied up with some zip-ties, so careful cutting it, you do not want to cut important wires.
